Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Vanders- What a Gun, Tough Story

A very moving story.

What an incredible character to deal with rehab, studies, losing his father, keeping the family business running.  A very resilient young man.  It was really good to have Jessie around to support him, to know what he was going through.

Vandemon has done an amazing job for us since coming returning from nearly two years out of the game.  He only had a few weeks at Casey and came into the seniors raring to go and hasn't blinked.  Adds so much to our team by playing his role and the pressure he applies.

What a load the poor guy has endured.

And what credit to him for coming literally back better than ever - attests to his character and dedication.

It sounds as if Jesse's support has also bee pivotal.

Great work. to you all.

I don’t know him too well, but I know enough to know he is a modest person who works hard and has a lasting relationship with former teammates and coaches (I think this says a lot about an AFL player - last week a he was at a local footy match in Bayswater because a few of his former Ainslie mates were playing for South Croydon).

Has been through a lot and is getting rewarded.

It’s life affirming.

I regard him as a secret weapon in this campaign. I've always rated him. 100% all the time, no excuses, just endeavour and effort.

Expand on this pls Dieter. Secret weapon is a big call.

For me, I've seen so many finals influenced by physicality (1988 and 2000 come painfully to mind), and that causes me to look at the current list and smile, as we, for the first time in my 50yrs, have a list capable of physically matching any other side. More than that, with players such as Vandenberg, we have many who will have opposition pausing when they are in the area.

We finally have the team to not just match it when things get tough,  but a team who can set a standard of their own, and do the bullying ourselves for a change.

Just on Vanders - do any of you Telstra subscribing folk have access to his heat-maps over the past few weeks? I'm curious as to where he's been spending the bulk of his time and if there have been any tweaks of late. His ToG% has been jumping up and down quite a bit since his return and he hasn't really been in the goal-scoring frame the last couple of matches.

Well he has only had 3 touches in the FWD 50 in each of the last three games. Lot of ball on the wing. Averaged 17 possies in last three games.

That's crazy. So we solved our issues with pace on the wing by adding Vanders? Kudos to the big fella. But?

Secret weapon: simple, he emphatically makes his presence felt. His opponents are aware there's danger lurking.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
