Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Did Jetta look alright with his shoulder issue? Moving freely?

Looked fit and well.

Loved the little banter between him and Salem right in front of me though!

Salem sprayed a kick on his right foot with Jetta right on his backside and Jetta yelled "ahh thats the pressure right there"

Salem: "[censored] off mate!" ?

He also pulled Dion Johnstone aside to do some one on one body positioning and contest work too.

Ready to go.

Training thread in mid September! Love it.

I have visions of a random Melbourne supporter whos been living in the jungles of Bolivia for the last 12 months logging on here and wondering why preseason training is starting so early this year.

Woo hoo, they were looking good. Clean and doing the basics well in challenging conditions with a gusty wind a-blowing.

Rehab had Lachlan Filopovic and Corey Maynard.

Michael Hibberd was late on the track. He was running laps with effort, then did a little ball work but finished early.

No sight of Dean Kent or Oskar Baker.

The emphasis for the drill work was definitely goal kicking, with some tackling thrown in. The basics during ball work was very good, clean by foot and hand as well as decision making.

No surprises for the line squads (Cam Pederson remains with the forwards).

The simulations were based around rebounds off the halfback. Angus was a bit out of sorts. Goody dragged him and when he participated again he was switched on (responded well),

Simulations included Joel Smith, Jayden Hunt and Jay Kennedy-Harris.

After simulations the players gathered around with Jordan Lewis leading the talk.

Bernie Vince on track. Stayed with the Casey Squad when they split during simulations, as did Jeff Garlett, Cam Pederson, Tom Bugg and Josh Wagner.

A little physio on the field for Oscar McDonald and Angus Brayshaw, they will be right to go.

Jack Viney, fitting in as if he had been there all year. Aaron vandenBerg, vocal and training well. Max Gawn doing everything right. Sam Wiedeman kicking beautifully, getting to the ball, marking and crumbing well.

Christian Petracca at last kicking goals at practice (the coaches putting some extra time into helping him).

Last to leave were Tom Mcdonald (kicking goals) and some backs including Neville Jetta (working with Dion Johnstone).

Go Dees.

May i just add that it is [censored] ridiculous how big Aaron Vandenberg is.. i have absolutely no doubt these blokes that get crushed in tackles by this brute would be feeling it the next day.

Whilst he is mature-aged (26), he has played only 33 games. Tonnes of development left in him!

Vandenberg just brushed Viney aside with ease..

The man cannot be stopped!

I just want to see Vanders go seriously through a couple of highlighted Hawk players on the day - take possession and play on....

Just reported on SEN thatHibberd is doubtful for Friday’s game with a knee injury?‍♂️

Joel the mole Smith in, then? Saw Hibbs grab at a knee cap area in the Geelong match but seemed to be OK after seconds of recovery. Hope he is OK for the game this week - Mr very handy Take no Sheete.

Dazzle, does the Weid have a slight more aura of self confidence about himself?

I truly hope he gets a slight swagger from a Friday night, belief in himself should be high.

Weid was last off the rack after completing some extra ruck simulation with a group of 5 which included Viney and Oliver. Other midfielders left a bit earlier.

Hibberds lap running was strong, and not idling by. Was taken out of main group early.  His running strength suggest its precautionary.

Hibberd is partial to a bit of soreness, so it’s probably just general management. Fingers crossed. While losing him wouldn’t be ideal, half-back also happens to be where we’re best equipped to cover anyway with the likes of J.Smith and Hunt primed and ready. It wouldn’t be a game changer.

Great to hear Bernie’s firing. If he’s ready it’s hard to see him getting selected in the firsts, but Casey have a huge PF this week and having him in would help enormously.

Disagree mate. An enormous out if he doesn't get up. Smith can tackle and that's about it. Hunt can run and on his day defend quite well, but Hibberd is a mile ahead of either player. He refuses to be beaten in the contest and is one of our better kicks. With Hawthorn's small brigade, I reckon we'd miss him massively, not to mention the drive we get from him.

Totally agree, he is our most important defender.

Not disputing that we’d miss him and that Smith is a downgrade - that’s why Hibberd is a lock 22 and Smith is on the fringe. Just that I doubt it would be the difference between losing and winning as the loss of other players who are completely irreplaceable would be. The gap between Oliver and our next available midfielder is nowhere near as large as the gap between Hibberd and Smith, for example.

If for your life, you had to choose one from the following players to get injured, which would you choose?

a) Jetta (best small)

b) Hibberd (best flanker)

c) Oliver (best mid)

d) Gawn (best ruck)

e) TMac (best tall)

?

Hmm. We'll have to agree to disagree then. In a tight finals game, the difference between Hibberd and potentially Smith is so critical it could be the difference between 2 or 3 goals.

I'm still keen on your answer to my quiz though :-) (You're not allowed to say d) though or I'll have to slap you)

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
