Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Our handling of Preuss is puzzling.

We played him with Gawn (in the role he was brought in to play) against Collingwood in the practice match and from all reports they worked well together and he was a good forward option.

We then played him on his own in JLT1 in a role he is not suited for (sole ruckman) and he was unsurprisingly exposed.

We then dropped him for JLT2 and went back to Gawn as the sole ruckman while Preuss was injured paying for Casey.

Gawn hasn't been at his best so far and was worked over by two rucks in round 1. He did better against Geelong but having another big option forward to captialisse on all our forward entries wouldn't have hurt.

Essendon are going with two ruckmen tonight in a bid to work Gawn over.

We cannot afford to run Gawn into the ground any longer and Preuss should be playing in the role that we brought him in to play.

Post of the year.

Really interested to see the replay and see how he fit into the side.

But looks like there's some concern over his shoulder - said in his interview with Jude Bolton after the game that he'd hurt his shoulder, was strapped, and he couldn't raise it in the team song after the game.

I thought once he did it, it was dislocated. Wouldn’t be surprised that it was popped back in, in the rooms, then jabbed and strapped up to come back out. I reckon he’ll be forced to miss a couple unfortunately. But I hope I’m wrong.

I think it works and we should continue with it. Just means we dominate the majority of hit outs and also have a big tall either back or forward.

They showed the heat map and Gawn sat back for a large portion of the game. That is exactly what we want, he can out mark any forward or bring the ball to ground for our backs to mop up.

To think our backline had no May, Lever, Jetta or Lewis there......

Early days, but Preuss is looking like a bust. Not fit enough to play for a team that is crying out for size and physical presence. Meanwhile Tyson is playing regularly at North whilst our depth is so non-existent that we are playing Lockhart and two Wagners this week.

Goodwin will have to play Preuss at some point this point to avoid Gawn being battered and bruised to the point he gets injured. Sadly that will mean Simon admitting he is wrong with his initial selections and tactics, so I can't see that happening any time soon.

Preuss looks like a bust, but Tyson is playing regularly... interesting.

Big Preussy did alright tonight, while Tyson has been dropped from another 0-3 side.

I honestly reckon he just got a stinger to the shoulder. Hopefully with a 10 day break he gets enough recovery in.

Agreed, reckon it was a stinger. Hope so anyway. Changes the whole dynamic of our stagnant forward line. Lanky inhibitors aside...the bloke gives his all.

Goodwin said in the press conference he'd be playing again and that they would stick with the set up. Goodwin did um and err and talk about team balance, he said Preuss is playing from now on.

Many on here had been calling for it before round 1. I think Goodwin was playing it safe and it's cost us wins.

Great first quarter with 2 great goals, not sure how often he'll reproduce them. Hard to judge him after the shoulder knock though.

He did free up Weid, T Mc, Petracca and Melk all to play better than they had been.

But how many coaches will allow Preuss just to sit forward and occupy an intercept defender like Aliir? It took Alliir 3/4's until he started running off Preuss and hurting him the other way.

Keen to see him play again, but I'd like it to be with a fully healthy shoulder. If he's not right then I'd probably look at either Keilty or T Smith, we can't afford to carry him if he isn't plucking some marks and able to really dominate in the ruck.

Thank goodness Goodie reads Demonland ?:

This is where Pruess could be well utilized. If he is planted in the goal square with the instruction to either stay there (thus taking one of the key defenders off the other team, which softens the opposition on Weid and Tmac) or lead out and smash into anyone (with eyes on the ball of course) who dares stand in front of you guarding space looking for the easy mark, then we have a beast of a guy there who the opposition can not ignore. Meanwhile TMac and Weid who are both more mobile are free to roam and the smaller guys can get around all this timber looking dangerous for the spillages which will inevitably occur.

Simplistic I know, but it has to be better than kicking it to Trac over and over again

Check out the post match interview on Channel 7 with him and Gawn.  They must have measured him incorrectly when he came to the club, as he looked taller than Max and way bigger in the body.   Hes a monster.

And also check out Clayton Oliver on Roaming Brian.  He is an absolute unit,  made Nate Jones look tiny.

Should have played R1 I wonder if port would have gone as hard at pruess, as they did with gawn, Ryder would have been sore.

Quite a few people said this at the time. Port played two Ruckman and took out Gawn to a large extent off the ball.

while we have had player injury / form problems IMO we have lost at least that game at the selection table. It appears we ignored changes that 666 would bring to the game.

Yep we all thought it, unless he really wasn't fit that was a baffling selection decision to leave him out and let Max get hammered.

Preuss straightens us up and allows TMac and Weed to roam.

Loving Hunt up forward too, I think we are more likely to kick a winning score and make the most of our inside 50s as they are both hard match ups.

There was a bit to like about Big Preuss, great frame can hit hard though I was a bit [censored] that he was wandering around at one point holding his shoulder, the wrecking ball wrecks [censored] it doesn’t get wrecked so he needs to sort that out.

Hit outs were irrelevant last night it didn’t matter who we had contesting the ruck Sydney were useless, in the middle and around the ground, Preuss worked it out early and was just running in and grabbing it something Max started doing late as well.

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim
