Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Yep, he seems to be very reliable at VFL level, and gets amongst the goals when he goes forward. I would've thought he'd be handy depth with that GCS experience. Not necessarily for us as we have a fair bit in that role.

Considering this was equal or probably the worse lineup Casey has been able to put up all year given the injury list atm, not a bad effort in the first half. hopefully we get some guys back next week for the first home final

Does Viney qualify?

I believe he does. Played 1 vfl game but not more than 6 afl games before july 1st. Plus seniors are still playing.

Viney is able to play because he didn’t play last round of AFL, but won’t.

You don't reckon they'd play him for a half to get some match fitness?

(Albeit not sure that'd be that helpful to Casey).

TBH I don’t think they would risk him in the VFL and he has said he has worked on being ready to play in the first final.

How many AFL listed players do Willy have? I assume NONE and we still had 9 but lost by 5 goals!

A lovely day at Casey with the faintest Zephyr blowing towards the (what do you call the end furthest from the sea.)

The first half was close with great and frequent tackling by the Demons preventing the Seagulls from breaking away. Garlett played well and honours were shared between both teams.

At half time it seemed that the Seagulls switched into another gear. They found space around the packs and their short kicking game started to take its toll on the Demons. In fact in the third quarter the Demons had few forward entries. The opportunities for Garlett dried up but the Demons managed to stay in touch until the last ten minutes or so when it seemed that it was free kick Seagulls time. What was particularly disappointing was the ease with which Willy got into scoring positions from behinds kicked by Casey.

In the last quarter Williamstown took control of the air as well as the short kicking arena and kicked away.

I'll leave it to the experts to discuss the finer points of who contributed what but I would say the Garlett's first half was good bordering on very good. His second half was much quieter but that reflected the team as much as him. A good first VFL final could see him back in the mix.

The bacon and egg rolls weren't bad but I'm afraid I must rank them behind the Burra burger and the Frankston sausage sizzle.

My first time at Casey Fields. Could do with some more trees but otherwise a decent ground lacking the heritage atmosphere of many of the old VFA grounds. From my time walking the field the ground was very soft which surprised me given the lack of rain. It was one level off near mud in some spots.

I look forward to heading out again next week (especially since I now know where to turn off the main road to avoid what was a very pleasant drive through the new suburbs) and with the return of some key players

Disapointing los today, but in all honesty, not that surprising given we only had 9 listed Melbourne players available. So here are my observations of said 9 players today.

Cameron Pedersen: Started like a house on fire and was the most dangerous player on the ground in the first term. Faded out of the game for the next 2 quarters before getting involved again in the final term. Kicked 3, and was alright without being great.

Mitch King: Battled, but that's all I can say. Beaten comprehensively by Messes with little impact.

Harrison Petty: Could give an identical summary to the one I gave of him last vftime I saw him. Solid, but not having the impact he did before his AFL debut. Seems down on confidence.

Jeff Garlett: Although his stats wouldn't have been high, he couldn't have done much more then he did, given he bagged 4. It's an oppotunist type role, and that's what he did.  Pass.

Dion Johnstone: Thought he was one of the better Melbourne listed players. Defended well and used it nicely. Something to work with.

Tim Smith: Played a great 1st term, but then faded out of the game pretty drastically after that. Big few weeks required from the Bull.

Pat McKenna: Arguably his best game for Casey so far, spending a bit more time in the midfield then previously. However still not convinced. Want to see a bit more.

Josh Wagner: Very solid game, and was the general off half back. Seems to have established himself as a very good VFL player.

Declan Keilty: One of Casey's best today IMO. Marked & defended well and played his tight game with a sense of calmness. Really hope they keep him on the list.

On a side note I thought the three best players for Casey today were Jay Lockhart, Corey Wagner & James Munro. Lockhart I believe is a monty to be drafted this year, and hope we use our first pick on him.

Further, after speaking with people associated with the club, it appears the AFL are very keen for a Saturday Night Final week 1 of the VFL finals for the broadcaster (Channel 7). Now although we've earnt the right to host Geelong, don't be suprised if there's pressure put on us from both the league & broadcaster to host Geelong in Geelong! You ask me, if Channel 7 want a Saturday Night VFL Game, the lights at Casey are good enough!

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
