Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

While we’re all rejoicing about the prospect of Nathan Jones’ return to finals football in the coming week and some are feeling good about Jack Watts missing out, it’s worth sparing a thought for former Demon work horse Lynden Dunn.

He was nudged out of the club a couple of years ago and went to Collingwood where he worked his way into the position of their senior key position defender destined to play in his first ever finals series before rupturing his ACL.

As much as I dislike the club he’s at now, I have to feel for the bloke who came to the club a year before Jonesy, made his debut in 2006 but didn’t play finals that year.

He played 165 games in the red and blue and is stuck on 196. I hope he gets to 200.

Couldn't care less about him all the talk about us celebrating 2 hard after Weagles game, I remember the over the top celebrations by Dunn last year when they beat us & denied us a chance 2 make the finals. He celebrated like he won big time at tattslotto & did it for a long time. Sod him & his mate with the tatts who loved Bucks so much he had 2 go 2 the scum

I support the club. Players come and go. Yes Dunn stuck with us and it wasn't his decision to leave us. When he is finished playing I will remember him perhaps more fondly.

Dunn I remember sending out a barrel against St Kilda at Etihad and Roos went apoplectic. Dunn I think never played again for us. Refused to follow instructions and thought he knew better.

I remember his wild celbrations when the Filth knocked us out of the finals in rd 23 last year. Over the top.

In the infamous Richmond game where Jordan McMahon kicked the winner after the siren, it was Dunn who led the player revolt in the middle of the ground and later created mischief for the club in the tanking investigation (along with Brock McLean the nowhere man - or Carlton legend ha ha).

So maybe in 20 yrs I might forgive Dunn. But not for now.

Not a Demon anymore so don't care about him...harsh but that's footy

Same here, I’m more upset about Hogan, Lever and especially Bernie missing out this year.

That is true. Hogan and Lever have plenty of years left in them but Bernie looks like he has cooked his goose. I feel for him as he has been an influential experienced player for our club.

The Dunn decision should remind wide eyed supporters that coaches and Clubs often make wrong and stupid decisions.

Why on earth he was dropped in 2016 to make way for Oscar McD remains one of the great mysteries along with:

Darren Jolly being dropped for the finals

Richmond trading out Graham Teasdale & St Kilda trading Ian Stewart

Barassi wanting to drop Malcolm Blight after the drawn Grand Final

Melbourne declining to sign Doug Wade after he did pre season training with us.

100% agreed. I saw footage of it again a few weeks ago and it's hard to have a soft spot for anyone who acts like that, especially when the game had little relevance to them.

The way he carried on after last years win against us was simply uncalled for and childish.

Therefore he can enjoy whatever success collingwood get over the sideline.

As someone mentioned before.. i actually feel more sorry for Bernie Vince and Jesse Hogan..

We all support the Club.  One of the problems at Melbourne over the years is members blindly supporting coaches & administrations that didn't have a clue about what they were doing.

And to suggest Dunn should be delisted because he made a mistake & kicked a "barrell" is not very rational.

He seems to have no trouble following Buckley's instructions.

Well, lets just put this on a merry-go-round and go mad.

If Dunn were still at the club, would we be playing finals? Or pehaps more pointedly, would we be one step behind where we are now in terms of setting up a squad for a sustained crack at it, with an 'only adequate' 31 year old holding a spot in the backline and keeping presumably O.Mc out. Would Oscar have developed the way he has without the AFL-level experience and responsibility?

It is great that his role at Collingwood has worked out well. Good for him and I hope he works his way back from injury for a couple more seasons.

Honestly, except for a torn ACL, the situation worked out best for everyone involved.

The player I feel for the most is Colin Garland who was cruelled by injury but who stuck fat with the club; if anyone deserved to play finals, it was him.

Hogan and Lever, and possibly  Vince, will play finals next year.

Wow, people really feel that about Watts? A bit pathetic.

Nothing wrong with having a giggle at Watts's typical 8 possession nothing games at Port, but to actually have a sense of satisfaction with Watts not playing for us this year. I reckon he would've loved nothing more than to play a final at the Dees - regardless of his off field attitude.

His kids wear Filth Jumpers now....

Yes i feel a little sorry for him, i also remember MFC applauding him in last years QB Match More than once.

His Round 23 celebrations don’t sit well, but that is his choice. We all saw it

we are there....

You can add Kevin Sheedy to that list as well. According to Tom Haffey we told a young Sheeds at preseason that he wasn’t up to it and try somewhere else!

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
