Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Oops sorry about that, stupidly trusted wiki which gave dimensions fence to fence not playing surface. Ground is definitely narrower though.

Is it? Weird they would build a brand new ground and not make it the same dimensions as the g.

If it is indeed narrower that really helps u as the width of the g makes our aggressive press less effective as an attacking weapon and more easily penetrated by opponents on the rebound

Nasher, something is causing this, stress fractures in feet are rare but we seem to have a number of these, we have 3 out now.  To me it is foot wear, surface and training loads that cause these types of injuries.

There MUST be data available re type of shoe and ground hardness.

IF necessary we need to urgently engage a podiatrist to get to the bottom of this.

Ground?

Footwear?

Training loads?

We have doctors, surgeons, physios posting on this site - any podiatrists / exercise physiologists?

It is extremely depressing and mentally exhausting supporting this club. Not to mention financially draining. Sigh.

For 2 years now I've forked over $700 for a membership that comes with guaranteed finals tickets access. Smart move that was.

Foot injuries don’t just go away either, Clark, Trengove, AVB and Viney have gone on for years. Let’s hope it’s not the case with Stretch or Hogan too. Something not quite right for sure

Meth Coast KPD's Mcgovern and Barrass aren't great at ground level.

As others have said be less predictable Tmac and a medium mobile forward line may be the way to go if not bring in Weid to play deep on Barrass and try and force Mcgovern to do what he hates and run with Tmac

Would be ok if we had some decent small forwards.

We're struggling here and it's one reason our forward efficiency isn't great.

Definitely no Pedo, but I think Weid has to come in to take the 2nd ruck role...

Max has been cooked for a few weeks now and he needs a good rest during the game.

If Tommy was our only key forward he wouldn't be able to give a chop out and I wouldn't like to see Harmes having to do it again.

Okay

No hope for Kent or Bugg?

Leave Jeffy in - I'd try Tyson down there, too

Hannan? But, he's been out of form...

it's important to get games into Weid, but Pederson IMO will give us more output at the moment

I dont think either of them are viable key forward option at this point unfortunately.  Decoys for T-Mac at best

Just go with T-Mac and a medium/small forward line.

As unfortunate as Hulk's injury is, sometimes things happen for a reason.

The impending return of Melksham and and an available Kent kicking a few goals on the weekend might be just the tonic we need to get over the Eagles & the Greater Western Circus and secure a finals berth.

Well if we lower our eyes when entering the F50 and TRY and pass to a team mate, instead of the perennial long bomb, we are a chance.

Numerous posters on here have been saying for weeks lets give Hogan a week off and get him right. Unfortunately the idiots in charge didn't do it and now this is the result.

The mind boggles.

I've got a vibe that he is out of the club, no info, just a vibe - not that he isn't wanted, but the pragmatism of the horse trading at the end of year, is to get some value, but him leaving would be for him on his terms - back to WA of course.

Personally, I'm happy to have Hogan at the club, and I'm also happy if he chooses to leave - as I am sure what we would get in return would be of great value.

And the only thing I have to base it on is his demeanour - mind you - it may not be about Melbourne (place and club) he may have that demeanour no matter where he is - that is - looks aloof/disinterested/ when he presents in the media.

Anyone else feel the same way?

Yeah I feel the same and you couldn't blame the guy after last year. He looked uncomfortable when asked last night, but maybe that's just me. Anyone else see him on TV? Happy to have him if he finds some consistency against the better teams.

I don't see any reason to believe he is leaving the Demons...  but Id love to get Lachie Neale from Freo if Hoges did want to go home.

Hes a couple of years older than Hogan though, so they can throw in a 2nd rounder.

Either way, while it's a real shame to lose Hogan regardless of the what the negative nellies say, our season is far from done and we have the depth to cover it and still make our push for finals.

If it was just Hogan, maybe. But it's not. You cannot take 3 of your key players (Hogan, Viney, Lever are about as "key" as it gets) out of the team and expect to get anything like the same level of performance. If that was the case, then you could argue that Carlton should be in the 8.

I'm as optimistic as they come, but I'm also a realist, and this is just a bridge too far.

Didn't he mention on Monday night that he now has more family in Melbourne than he does in Perth and although he likes to get back to WA every now and then desire to get back isn't near what it was.  If you are Fremantle and West Coast you would be mad to trade for him, there is so much uncertainty with this type of injury.

This is the least to be worried about, getting him over this stress fracture is main priority.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
