OMac was good against Adelaide but otherwise his form has been down the last two months. Some will put it down to Lever being out of the side but it is more than that IMO. I am not an OMac bear and can see him being a good AFL player in time, but I think Pedersen might be a better option at present. Especially this week against McCartin.

Letting the Sexton goal from 80m bounce through (and getting behind Leslie who would have kicked the goal if it didn't) was particularly poor play from OMac.

Pedersen has the turning circle of the queen mary so will be caught out even more by those balls that get over the top. In general OMac's strength in the last few weeks has been that goal keeping role where he is the last man back, that Sexton goal was a freak event that in the same situation would be lucky to go that way 5 times out of 100 (blaming OMac is drawing a very long bow).

I've asked but no one has been able to really give an answer on what Ped's role at Casey has been, has he been playing as an intercepting 2nd/3rd type tall or as a main key defender. I know we've got Petty and Keilty down there as well, so he might come in as a direct replacement for Smith if playing a 2nd/3rd defender role but I don't think he'd come in to replace either Frost or OMac as a main tall role - especially against Sydney who rely on Buddy and smalls.

The Sexton goal would have been terrible play even if it had missed. OMac misread the flight of the ball and then was so slow to get back that Leslie beat him to the goal line despite starting well in front. OMac started the year well but has been poor since mid year.

Suggest you watch it again, the ball carried well over their heads, which was happening a lot during the early part of the game due to the wind, as they turned Leslie put an arm across OMac which checked his run but in the end neither managed to get back to the ball. OMac had one very poor game against Geelong, but has been very good besides that and won't be dropped on the back of the 2 games since then.

Our number one key defender on their number one forward is funny?  Righto.

While I think Frost is the better matchup, I'd be more than happy to see Oscar get first crack on Sunday afternoon.

Exactly.

Omac has taken the oppos number 1 forward all season.

At the pointy end of the season we are top 4, so unarguably one of the best sides in the competition.

They may well go with frost because they think he is a better match up (ie pace and strength). But given our ladder position they are just as likely to stick with a winning formula.

On a related note, suggestions he might be dropped are absurd.

In -     Pedersen,  Melksham

Out -  Gawn (inj) Smith (inj)

Pedders to play in the ruck like last season when Gawn was out.

Isn't Demons 11 the bloke who claimed Gus was looking elsewhere and that we are right into Hannebery?  If it is then I'd be reticent to believe him, although I guess with this one he is a 50/50 in being right.

Who comes in for Max?

Pedo was likely to come in anyway as a defender/relief ruck.

All of your threads of opposition watch 3 weeks out have cursed us, I blame you.

Thanks Mr know it all.

Have you not heard this week Hannebery’s name being floated that he will be leaving Sydney.

Did Melksham train today?

Melk and  Hibbo were training separately from the main group. I saw them doing leading and kicking drills with Crossy. Both looked to be moving well, no sign of problems but they never joined the main group and left early so looks like another week or so.

Great.  We aren't even mentioned in being interested in him, which you said we were.

We have a pretty good habit of not making those things public.

So you can prove we are not interested?

I just got told your full of it, unless your very close to the fd you wouldn't be told anything factual at this stage.

Goodwin seems to think he will play.

The burden of proof isn't on me, it's on you.  You've been wrong a few times now, it's not a good look.

Feel free not to read my messages, I don’t have any tolerance for people like yourself.

Not touchy mate, just sick of the garbage that is continually posted on this site.

The bloke didn’t train on a Thursday before a game and reports were a calf issue and wouldn’t be playing.

Was just passing on the info as I’m sure others would be interested as I was.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
