Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

More seriously though regardless of team performance how is it possible that some players do not show considerable improvement from one season to the next. As John Kenneddy said, "just do something" improve your strength, your speed, your left foot, your handball., your tackling, the list is endless. At least then we supporters can say, 'he did something"

Kids I don't think we have any players that have improved over last season.

I’m not sure that anyone at Melbourne speaks to Tom Morris. It was him who broke a story about Goodwin last year - whilst being employed by the club as one of the podcast presenters - and didn’t have the balls to turn up to the podcast the following week, when Goodwin was the guest.

Tom Morris is a Tom Morris fan.

So did Mark Neeld at Collingwood.  Big deal.

Ask Kobe Stevens about how he managed his milestone game.

There's a bit of smoke, but you can keep playing with daddy's fuel can.

If well paid professional footballers blame their poor performance on a single bloke trying to do his job they can all go and get stuffed.

If it is an actual issue then by now Mahoney should’ve well dealt with it.

Stuff it. Let’s blame Mahoney as well!

Pass me another jerry can.

Salem definitely, should be leading the BnF atm

I agree Salem is probably our best & most consistent  performer this season. I do not think he is any better than last year, he has less competition.

It's scapegoat time unfortunately.  Macca is a great fella but he's old school.  I don't think there is anything wrong with that but obviously somebody does.  Our players need to harden up and understand the requirements of a professional athlete - in and out of season.  Our players are mentally weak unfortunately.  I think more time with Macca is probably what is needed however the opposite is the more likely outcome.

And 2 years after McCartney left they became a rabble again in 2017.  Still are.  Not necessarily the coaches - Club culture, I reckon.  Coaches come and go.  Culture just hangs around.

Along the way there was a two year hiatus when they managed to fluke a premiership.

Fluke is precisely the right word.

Without BM there would be no doggies flag, even if he wasn't there when they eonbit. He helped set the foundation there.

The work he has down with Harmes has been fantastic and I honestly believe he can have that impact on any players who are willing to listen to him and put the work in.

He left in October 2014, 2 yrs before the flag and the place was a basket case. Lost their captain and one of their best players, their coach, the CEO left..and others. Great foundations

So you don't believe its necessary to eject some senior players,  in order to crack and then change an  non-winning  culture.

You must believe they can all be turned around...  and follow the messiah.

Tom  Morris reporting on On The Couch there are issues resurfacing which were discussed last year with Brendan McCartney.

Disconnect between some of the players and coaches with him including Goodwin.

He mentioned he is a backline coach in conjunction with Chaplin,  that's the first I've heard of that.

Not shooting at you HB, but Tom Morris is a $h!+ stirrer of the 1st order. I think he models his media game on Purple...

He left after Peter Gordon overruled the football department and recruited Tom Boyd himself, forcing Ryan Griffin out of the club and Mccartney resigned.

Two off the assistant coaches in 2016 when the dogs won the flag were close friends of my daughter and son in law and they advised me that it was the work done by Mccartney that enabled the dogs to win a flag.

If fans are looking for a scapegoat, pointing the finger at Maaca is not the answer. From personal experience, the bloke is as straight as a schoolboy at Christmas. If the players are after him, it's because he's delivered a few home truths.

I've never heard this metaphor before. While I think I understand what you intend it to mean, for the life of me, I can't understand how this expression ever came to be in the first place. In fact, the more I think about it, the more it seems to express an anti-logical position. Nevertheless, as an expression, I love it.

This has always surprised me. Fundamental skills can always be improved. Outside of official team training sessions, I wonder how many players take themselves off to practice their skills on their own. In the old days, many footballers from top line to kids would go to the local oval and repeatedly kick for goal on all angles, off both feet or just kick to kick relentlessly until dark.

I suspect that most of the time, official training is for the most part the only time players work on their skills. The motivation is team based but how many players are sufficiently self-motivated to work on skill areas themselves?

I think your right  'hw',  Re the 70's and 80's... possibly not much before that...  and maybe not so since the mid noughties.

Skilled on both sides seemed to take a backward step, maybe around the advent of the flood...?

And also,  going full time Pro,  they are inside the club/gym for so much time,  do they have less free time.?

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim
