Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Today this pitiful record will finally be overtaken.   Thats a woefully low record high score for a foundation club.

Probably will be more like 14G 28B - 112 with the way we’re kicking for goal atm ?

Interestingly the most scores (goals+behinds) we’ve kicked this year is 41 against GC. The record above is 42 scores, not as big a stretch as one might think ?

GC will out to prove a big point now their captain has officially said cyas. Danger game IMO

Yeah, this could even fuel them to score a goal in the first 5 minutes.

Good luck to Bernie Vince for his 100th game today. ❤️?

Great pickup for a club without leaders. He has served us well and will forever be a Melbourne man.

Largely an irrelevant game as winning will tell us little and losing .. well we know what happens then.

Dees by a disappointing 36.

On a more positive note looking for good games from Petracca and the defence generally. Would like to see the defence work as a complete unit with Smith giving off the ball to a designated kicker. If we can do that we should beat Sydney next week and then who knows.

Suns are fielding half a side that wasnt very good to begin with.

Add to that the reports that they have been fighting with each other since Lynch's announcement.

Today will be a Dee-Stroy-ation.

MFC by 10 goals+,  and me with a hangover tomorrow.

6 goals is disappointing?

We are shooting for finals here - 4 points is the objective, no matter if we win by 10 points or 10 goals. Why winning by 6 goals is disappointing is beyond me. Losing will be disappointing. Winning by any margin at the pointy end of the season is always a good thing.

6 goals is disappointing. This is barely a VFL side we are playing.

How do you think we stand a chance against three top 8 teams if we cannot demolish a 17th ranked team with most of its top 6-10 players out.

Worrying lack of respect for the opposition here today.  Melbourne supporters, more than anyone else in world sport, should know that no win is ever certain.

The following wooden spooners have beaten us in my time following the club:

We drew with Sydney in ‘92 and lost to them in 93 and 94, lost to Western Bulldogs 03, Carlton twice in 06, Richmond in 07, West Coast in 2010, GWS in 2013, StKilda in 2014, Carlton in 2015, and the Essendon reserves in 2016.

We missed the finals with final round losses to Brisbane in 95 and Collingwood in 2017.

StKilda ran all over us this year, in a match where the final score did not reflect the extent of their dominance.

Talk of ‘record’ scores and margins is very premature.  We should respect every contest and bring 100% ever time we play.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Objective should be to win every quarter - one quarter at a time.

Agree, lets not drink our own bathwater. Remember we are playing the same GCS that beat Sydney a couple of weeks ago. We need to be play with intent, be disciplined as a team and ruthless in the way we go about it, contest by contest, quarter by quarter and game by game for the next two months. Go Melbourne!

I’ve never been more certain of a win. That said, I put $10 on GC.

Aim high.

10 goal minimum for me to be happy... 6-10 is my "satisfied" level. Anything less than that will be a poor result IMO.

GC are terrible and have nothing but draft picks to play for.

Time for a flogging.

I want this to be true but the amount of times i can remember the dees getting complacent before 'easy' matches and then stuffing up is too overwhelming. I hope that the demons of old don't turn up at the ground today and as you say we do emerge as a premiership threat.

For the life of me I can't fathom why anyone would be concerned by a winning margin when it comes to the Dees.

Other than the St Kilda game we've pretty much smashed who we should have.

You do realise we've got the second best percentage in the league ?  You do realise we're the only team in the league to average 100+ points per game in 2018 ?

If we win by 100 points or 40 points I won't think any differently about Melbourne come 7pm tonight.  The fact that you will I find extraordinary.

Our last 3 games will tell me much.  This game won't tell me anything.

You have to be concerned with ‘winning margin’ as this game is the only chance we have to increase our percentage. Although we currently have a healthy percentage (second highest), the teams around us are closing the gap and, at the end of the season, it may well prove the difference in finishing Top Four or even scraping into the Final Eight!

Matt Thompson on THE ROUND SO FAR  on  afl.com.au said about today’s game against GS  something like “Like its Melbourne.. mumble mumble ur...surely....surely....mumble mumble um.....you just never know”. Inarticulate but on the money as anything said about us.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
