Means we can concentrate more on McCrae and not them both.

Huge out. Hope the players don’t relax due to it tho.

Bontempelli out after appendix surgery....

Great...I can hear the sigh of relief in the demon camp, the players thinking it will be a walk in the park, ala St Kilda and they all forget to turn up.

Yes, a bit of MFCSS on my part but it is just so Melbourne to repeat the (lack of StKilda) effort and not be switched on.

They will probably have McCrae back who is in Brownlow form and very damaging.

We must bring our A game and not let up.

Snap!!!

Spot of luck but this hasn't really worked in our favour too well in the past...(except maybe for Fyffe and Sandilands..:).)

That means they'll need to find 30 odd possessions, 3 goals, 20 contested gets, 12 clearances, 5 goal assists and 8 marks

Big out

Not forgetting the GOY after dodging 5 attempted tackles

Would like to see JKH come in. I know he has struggled at AFL level, but his VFL form has been solid. Perhaps a HFF with Frisch on the wing.

I agree we can't afford any more games where we don't come with full AFL intensity from the opening bounce. If we can't win this week with the side the Doggies will be putting out on the park (kids really) we aren't serious and don't deserve to play finals'

Keep Spargo in the team. We hardly ever lose when he plays. Let's give Baker a chance. He's got a bit of dash and flair and he's a red head. Our other one of them is okay.

I'm partial to rangas. I have two brothers and two sisters with red hair.

LoL, you sure your not  a Taswegian pd?

That is a good way to look at it; the Bont is the go-to man, getting the Doggies out of deep 5H1T many times per game, scoring ocasionally and clearing in the midfield for fwds. Play tough, we win.

Needs to be a 10 to 15 goal win, especially without Bontempelli.

If Smith is out they’ll definitely bring Vince in. I’d like to to see Baker though.

If Stretch is injured (big If) I would give JKH a go. Not a great fan but there isn't much else at present at VFL level.Baker perhaps but I think the result would be the same as Petty...not quite ready yet.

Tyson anyone ?

JKH for me. He’s earned a shot. Big stakes for him though. If he fails I doubt we’d see him in the jumper again.

I actually wonder if bont out really helps that much? Bont is slow and we are slow. If they bring in a fast player i will worry a bit. Sure we will get our hands on the ball first and turn it over.. what happens then. Hopefully we are clean this weekend with our skills!

I’d like to see Kent replace Stretch, more speedy than Stretch but unsure if two games back in the VFL is enough for a recall.

Yep, by far their best and most influential player. Also happen to be a star.

Honestly we need every win and every goal at the moment to make finals, so I'll take whatever I can get to give us an advantage.

Hunter was injured last week and MacRae seems to be coming back very quickly from a Hamstring.

Unless theyre going to switch someone else from the inside to the outside. His two games on the outside have been very disappointing

Being it sounds Smith trained, Stretch for Baker would be the only change I would make. More speed on the outside please. JKH has had his chances and has not shown a want to really run without the ball.

Petty is a first year 18 year old key back. Baker is an outside player who is 3 years older. Hard to compare the two.

For Kent, anything is possible.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
