Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We are still breathing ..... that's the first positive.  All the changes improved us ........ that's the second.  Tracc (in particular) and Hogan returned to form big way ...... that makes three.  Max and Clarry continue to star.   Fritta continued his rise ......... etc, etc ......... and the cognac is very smooth!  Well done Dees!

Positives and negatives to take from that.

We absolutely dominated them for 95% of the game. We were clinical through the middle, we out-ran them, our press held up, and we clearly tried (although didn't always succeed) to lower our eyes going inside. Oliver was outstanding, Brayshaw great, Petracca improved, and both Stretch and Garlett were welcome additions (Stretch in particular, his side steps were excellent). And our percentage jumped nearly 3%.

On the other hand, too many of the same problems were still there. We still press so high that our opponents score too easily in the space out the back. We still don't convert enough of our inside 50 dominance (+50 inside 50s should be a 154 point win, not a 54 point win). We still commit horrendous turnovers (Jetta to Mundy in the first quarter).

Good to get the win and the percentage boost, and I think most of our selections worked out for the better, but clearly still plenty to work on.

Was inside 50 count 78 to 28?

Lots of useless long bombs again, forward congestion, perfect opportunity for a specialist zippy little forward to show his class and get 20 possies and a handful of goals.

If the best compliment we can give Jeffy is to say he laid 6 tackles in slippery conditions, then we need to seriously reassess his value to our club.

Did you watch the game Moonshadow, or are you just going from the stats?

Fremantle's plan was to congest our forward line. There just wasn't room to move. It wasn't like we had oodles of space and Garlett wasn't able or willing to use it. He had little room to move. He ran, chased, tackled and pressured more than he was before he was dropped and certainly more than our forward line was doing the past three weeks. And he gave us another dimension to the forward line.

Okay difficult conditions but we still over do the handball.

We do but some of our more experienced dish off too many bullet handballs to players in close.  Especially in greasy / slippery conditions.  Soft hands?

Also lHogan needs to stop handballing to the opposition for the sake of handballing to anyone.  Crazy.

Sure I watched the game, Uranus.

Jeffy was underwhelming in perfect conditions for him to kick a handful and remind us of his capabilities. But I guess we should be happy with 'he ran and chased'

Agree Petracca showed good form with 130 supercoach points. Shows his potential. The critical commentary has been valid.

We are still a year or two off bring a top 4 team in my opinion. Mostly a lack of coaching experience more than the players. Need to sort out the best backline line up.

I'll take it.  Obviously a 100 point win with better accuracy would have been nice, but we absolutely dominated a team that we should dominate.

It looks like Joel Smith might be on his way back to Casey.  He's still a work in progress, but right now his lack of game sense is hurting the side too much.

We need to get rid of the Darwin game ASAP.  The players are going to be stuffed next week.

No they weren't. It was greasy, and our forward line had almost 36 players in it at times.

And we can be happy with "he ran and chased". People jump over each other to heap praise on Richmond's small forwards because of their running, chasing, tackling and pressure. We need that from Garlett just as much, if not more (given our other avenues to goal) than we need goals.

I wouldn't throw the baby out with the bathwater on the topic of accuracy just yet. From 15 games this was only the fifth time we kicked more behinds than goals (and only the second time since Hawthorn in Round 5).

Interesting that we had to play J Smith as a forward cos they were flooding so hard back and he had no match up

It was ugly, ugly UGLY to watch

But we got it done, thank god, and no major issues with injury from what i could see

Coulda been better, coulda been worse...

Thought he was pretty good early, then was glad Goodwin made the move because otherwise the only other option was to just leave him on the bench. Hopefully he's judged on his early have play not as a forward but think he would have learnt a bit going there

Good win would have been a great win if we kicked straight.

The inclusions were great especially Stretch best game for a long time.

Trac found some form.

Gawn, Oliver, Brayshaw and Viney fantastic.

Hopefully this gets us back on track, big game against the dogs.

Improved as the game wore on. Goal kicking a worry. Missed a chance to bolster our % back up a bit. Got a handy win but should have won it by 75 + points . Need to win strongly next week now and not sit back and bask in this win. There is still a heartbeat and it may get even stronger for those who desire it badly enough.

Not a bad return tonight after 10 weeks out.

Would like to see him work harder at getting front and square more often though in coming weeks if he is to impact the scoreboard more often IMO. A few opportunities missed in that regard.  Hopefully that will come with improved AFL match fitness in the next few weeks.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
