Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

If you don't know what his role was then why did you say he played it...?

You're getting worse and worse.

I'm getting worse, Goodwin at his presser said he was impressed with the clearance/stoppage etc work, as Tyson was part of this group I assumed, how terrible of me,  that Tyson had played his role, it is my opinion Mr Righteous, which I am allowed to have

As your little schoolyard group is busy orgasming over the thought of Mr Accumulator Gaff joining the club, I can forgive your lack of comprehension or your inability to accept my opinion, of course it is not as infallible as those espoused by your little group

Didn't you watch the game?

Assume it was to chop out in the ruck and be the 3rd tall forward, adding pressure and tackling in the forward 50, again my opinion, hard to take for your little group, stress the word little

Set the tone for forward pressure in the first quarter. Competed well in the ruck and we lost nothing with Gawn off as we often do. Kicked a goal.

Forward pressure is vital to our backline being able to compete. I wouldn't drop any player than does the job with pressure given how badly we've lost in games where our pressure is missing.

I don't know what his role was, do you, if Goodwin was satisfied with the team and the intent, surely that means he played his role, if he didn't then he won't get a game next week

What was his role then?

You are doing it again, misquoting, you do know that all posts, apart from those that are deleted by mods are kept in perpetuity, I didn't lie in the Gaff thread, others attributed that to me

Ohh dear... you said he played his role, and now  backpedaling big time saying you dont know what his role is..

I'm not the one claiming that he played his role like you did. But if I go by his performance on Friday night, I would say he was quiet poor.

You know it's funny how you say Gaff is just a accumulator and does nothing with his disposal, yet quick to defend Tyson who has no awareness and shocking disposal by foot and yet you have the guts to say he played his role? You honestly need to take your fan orgasam glasses off and see it from a footballing perspective, something you struggle from day to day basis unfortunately..

And you 100% lied on here and you know it. I will happily bring back the Gaff thread and tag your name in to prove this. Its actually about time you get pulled up for what a fake you are.

I too saw what he did. I wouldn’t presume to know what role Goodwin gave him although it’s easier to see with some (Jetta, ANB) than others. I’ve no idea what role Tyson was given. Nor does Saty.

I heard what Goodwin said.  He's right, our clearance/stoppage work was terrific.

He made no mention of roles, let alone Tyson's, so we don't actually know if that's the role he had.  Did he have a run with role?  Was he there to give a chop out to other players?  Did he rest across half forward?  Play on a wing?

We don't know the answers, and neither do you.  You said he played his role, without knowing if he did or not, and when asked by Vogon you instead turned it in to what it is now.  You didn't answer the question, as you often don't, and instead made it very clear that you're just going by what Goodwin said and twisting it as best you can to suit your thoughts, which is what you usually do.

I thought Smith's one hit hout and one mark game was pivotal.

Without getting involved in some of the [censored]breast for tat arguments.

Because Goodwin indicated he was happy with a lot of the other nights performance doesn't mean no changes this week. We did after all lose the game.

A couple of things I noticed from hearing him on SEN the other morning were that we are a work in progress (long season) and that Bernie has had a couple of quiet games.

Bernie may get a reprieve but it probably depends on the work in progress part and what they have in mind.

For me Weid comes in to take that 2nd ruck/forward role from Smith who whilst working hard sometimes looks a bit lost.

Do we roll the dice on Jeffy, we really do need him around goal. The conversion rate is evidence of that.

I would like to see Petty get a run, the Lever mix is not settled yet and I think he is a better prospect than going back to Frost although Frosty might get the one more Trengove/Grimes shot at it if his form is good.

I want to see Petty get a game. Don't like the under-sized backline. Put him on McCartin who is also a young player.

Either Spargo or Garlett also in, whoever performs better at Casey this weekend.

Agree the backline is undersized. Must play Frost who brings so much to the table , we MUST have someone to play on a second big forward. And despite Garlett's ordinary form in the twos, I would play him. He is a genuine forward, not convinced that Spargo is--he's better around the ground.

Unless your name is Goodwin, would love to see you tell him he is rested

You have taken out a high half forward and a half back  and replaced with two tall defenders and a wingman?

"A lot of the groups for drills were mix and match, so fwds with backs is irrelevant." This is a quote from you critical of my opinion in a training thread from 19th june. Now you are critical about positions. "You have taken out a high half forward and a half back and replaced with two tall defenders and a wingman?" Which is it, positions irrelevant or important?

My main point was to blood a few players in the big show. I'm a bit of give everyone a go kinda person. I know it is unrealistic and will not happen but I believe it is a good time to bring at least one of them in. I like having over the top opinions at time and I stated my changes won't happen. "So many changes which I know will not happen."

[Out; Mitch Hannan, Alex Neal-Bullen, Christian Salem (all need more game involvement), Neville Jetta (rest, been hit hard a couple of times this year) and Tom Mcdonald (rest).

In; Sam Wiedeman, Harry Petty, Dion Johnstone, Sam Frost and Oskar Baker.

In a game against St.kilda we could blood some new players and shake up the team till we establish the best 22 and later create cohesion for the finals (hopefully). The next week give Harley Balic and Dean Kent a run.]

Salem has been picked in the back pocket though hasn't played there. Bring in Petty for him. Dion for Jetts. Weeds for Tom. Frost off the bench and Oskar forward and mid. Makes our backline taller and the hunger from the young ones may improve our attack on the ball.

"Unless your name is Goodwin, would love to see you tell him he is rested".

Jetts was staggering after a hit on friday and he has been wacked a couple of times this season  He is a rational person and no different to others if asked to rest. Do you have a special relationship with him (other than talking to him at the end of trainings) to make statements like that . You can rest him for his own good.

Why are so critical of me and seems I am not the only one. Opinions are opinions and mine might be wrong but you seem to believe yours are correct. I think your are a contrary, if I say black you say white. I've been told if you are critical of someone then you need to praise them twice as much otherwise they won't hear you. So to finish, you are a good devils advocate and have plenty of energy to give. Good luck to you.

I don’t think there is too much wrong with the backline. Only change is possibly Vince. I think the weed 4 Smith and Garlett 4 ANB. Stretch may be worth a go especially against the saints or dockers. Oh and those talking about dropping Hogan need to see some one in a white coat.

An old fashioned goal umpire?

Nail hit on head, though wouldn’t be surprised were Petty to get a run.

And Spartacus laid 9 tackles which is something the match committee and the coach like. Maybe for ANB

I think we need to inject his "get a goal from nothing" talent, even though he hasn't set the world on fire at Casey.

I get the feeling he has a few issues off the field, which he has had in the past and they are distracting him.

I would tell him he has to apply defensive pressure all the time and irrespective of goals, that is his minimum expectation. Create run and options. No time for star gazing and drifting in and out of the game.  If he fails to do that, if given the chance, I think he may not be on our list for too much longer.

I have been desperate for Garlett and Hunt to excel in the VFL, as their speed is needed.

One is injured and the other doesn't seem to have fired a shot.

I wonder if it will get to the stage where Goodwin just has to roll the dice on Garlett.

Im quite concerned for Jetta.
He's had history of concussions and has spent some good time on the sidelines recovering.

With the recent media attention on Jetta, we had learnt abound his 'keeping his feet' philosophy. After the clash of heads I immediately thought the worst,  so seeing him get up and try to lay a tackle (and give away a free/goal) made me feel uneasy.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him rested or out with injury. Certainly hoping he plays.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
