Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Collingwood will move back to Victoria Park, Dees will build a base at Goschs, everyone happy. Pert pulled out as he and Eddie have been discussing it, Government funding plus AFL funding the whole thing. The End.

IF Colonwood did return to “their ancestral home” then would not the Olympic Park oval and facilities become vacant ...... I realize it would feel dirty for a while, but ....

In the meantime the small size of our training oval at Goshs could being an issue, surely be modified to match the G with little or no disruption to trees and other amenities.

It wouldn't be to difficult to do some late night missions to 'adjust' the fence line around Gotch's over a period of 3 - 6 months. Something I hope Pert is planning with Mahoney and the boys as we discuss this topic.

I'm sure we could get a priest, rabbi and imam as well as an exorcist to work together to cleanse the area. Might need some heavy duty steam cleaning as well.

It's more than that. The whole ground of Goschs would need to be re-profiled to give it consistent, industry standard camber. As a reference, this oval surface in Royal Park has just been resurfaced and has taken approx 5 mths so far and is still cordoned off with temp fencing while sufficient grass returns.

Which in turn begs the question: have we looked at one of the ovals in Royal Park as an option? Could lease and/or develop Brens Pav or similar nearby as the sports development centre of RP. Could co-use with hockey/netball which is next to the zoo. There are 3 ovals here and 5 off Park St next to the crappy golf course. Thoughts?

I played cricket at brens with parkville cc for a number of years. The local residents (all 100 od them) made putting nets up difficult. Super militant. And rich. Pains in tbe backside.

This subject makes my gut churn.  Every year we see state and Federal govts Hands out money to clubs to build or enhance facilities.  The latest promise is to Geelong again!  What the hell is going on at MFC?  Geez this is infuriating, always the lost and poor club.  I will be long gone before our mob does something on this front.  Why are the MFC so inept!!!

Not really. The monkeys are able to pass their peanuts to each other without dropping them, or landing them in the lion's enclosure, unlike our inability to handle a footy.

I love Ding's mock up Gosch's Paddock ideas. Storm and Victory have a perfectly good purpose built stadium to train in.

If we move out of AAMI Park, then they benefit by gaining more internal space. We should benefit from more external space.

Good luck with that, we had a perfect stadium to train at as well, except 4-5 clubs call it home so does cricket and no side is allowed to train on it.

If you get a chance check out West Coast or Fremantle training facilities.  Even Essendon, two ovals ample space Hawthorn is building the same.

We need to face facts, we will not get what we want to keep up with the competition inner city.  I reckon ideal spot close to the City, the ovals along the Monash past Kooyong, starts with the Baseball field, soccer/Athletics, then you have 5 or 6 football ovals along the creek towards Malvern.

Just a thought - I understand that the Elsternwick golf course is to be closed and used for "open space".

It is right next to Elsternwick Park cnr Glenhuntly Road and Nepean Highway; close to Elsternwick station and also trams.

Would that be worth at least exploring?

couldn't the other aami tenants actually just train on aami itself?

There is room on Gosch's Paddock,  for our Mcg sized Oval...  and a Rectangular Pitch (which i would position where Ding had the building in his first image)...  the only difference to how things are positioned right now...  is where does Our buiding fit onto the plot.

That's what I was trying to get Ding's help with,  but he hasn't responded to my description.

I’d say the most likely area to house the building would be in the triangular space between the freeway, gosch’s  and Punt Road (not big enough)

That was an old suggestion rumored to come out of the club, wasn't it.?   That could work,  but is a little far from the Station,  in my book.

If they shifted the Oval from Ding's placement in his First Image...  25 Mtrs toward Punt Rd...   Then there would be space to build above the AAMI Park carpark,  and the Tringle of land, bounded by AAMI Park's car-park,  the Back-Pocket boundary fence-line,  and the exit loop of the Freeway.

And a stretch of space Western End of the new Oval position,  up to the Olympic Boulevarde.

That area of Gosch's,  near Punt Rd and just Nth of the exit loop, is where I imagine the Rectangular Pitch would be located.   Which would give more exposure to the Melbourne Storm when they're training.

Elsternwick Park was my very first suggestion,  way back Mono...  prior to us getting into the AAMI Park complex.  It could make a very very good training complex.  Including the bowls club into some sort of social facility,  incorporating the bowling greens.

We have members at the bowling club.

PS"  I would still maintain connection with Gosch's Paddock training Oval as well.   A Gosch's Paddock Complex is better for Pre-games and Post-games. IMO.

If Gosch's were to be our preferred option, we'd simply have to have our presence on the Punt Rd/Swan St corner.

If space and inner city location were the key requirements then the Westfield Ovals in Yarra Bend or the Kevin Bartlett Reserve in Burnley  should be considered. (Obviously the second option would have to be re-named.)

Both spaces are highly under-utilised and are surrounded by bushland so have no locals to upset. That said, it makes them less attractive for a social club to be located.

Do you think the building has to be on the corner ?

Yes...  but the people who control these things won't allow it there,  because Gosch's is predominantly Green-space.   But if its the Oval on the corner,  that should suit the primary use of the land better.

If we build down the back corner and also along the west end of the oval I think we could achieve enough space.  The building might also need to creep around past the Back-Pocket along to the Southern Wing.

Essentially we would have one wing of the building,  from Olympic Boulevarde,  along the Oval's western boundary,  joining to the Main building in the Back-Pocket area,  and a further wing of the building, wrapping around the Oval to the Wing position.

Where the building meets Olympic Boulevarde,  could be the place for the Demon shop and cafe ?...  and it's just across the road from the Richmond Station.

Thanks to the Australian voters a number of clubs won't get their 'promised' $15-$20 million Federal funding.  eg Hawks, Cats, Bulldogs. :D

OD, don’t we have to actually have to put a valid proposal forward to the Govt to be reviewed and then money is perhaps allocated if the proposal is valid?

I’m not aware we have been proactive enough to do this formally as yet - or at least recently.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
