Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I would happily lean towards that way of thinking SW...

If we were coming off a strong successful base and some recent (say last two decades) success with say 70k plus members.

If the cost of doing so weren't so prohibitive (CBD and nearby region) AND....

IF the MCC were right behind us and showing signs of supporting/backing us in eg; ....

?? allowing us to return to the G to train again

?? Concrete evidence that the MCC were looking to step in and help in any said discussions with local council (or the MCC Itself) to redevelop an area at our around Yarra Park....OR similar support (direct $$/helping to find or raise $$ via high level MCC backers etc) if that is not viable.

It's a nice romantic thought SW but where is any eveidence of the above from the MCC??  If you can show it to me i will happily sit up and take notice.

If not then after 35 years since being kicked off the G and just having an affiliation, like many other big clubs have with the MCC now and the Pies taking over the G and the surrounds as the main player, it's time we found our own identity.

Members / Admin / the FD and players will be much better off once we have that identity.  And part of that identity is physical bricks and mortar where you walk in and can see / feel / breathe the culture.

At this point i cant see that ever happening while we are talking Pollyanna/Walter Mitty type piece together pipe dreams in or near the CBD,  where there are just too many obstacles and financial hurdles for us (as a struggling smallish club) to go through.

Time to look elsewhere before most have gone past us in a big way and we are left in the wilderness to bemoan our inability to bite the bullet and move forward with a viable option further out.

Time to look forward....not back SW IMHO.  And part of doing that means being realistic with regard to our genuine options.

Where is there any evidence of the MCC not wanting to be part of the future??

Don’t make things up to suit your agenda.

Neither the Club or the MCC have said anything is off the table yet, and i believe Pert when he says this is a long term project, because it is.

As i said earlier, we have already cut ties with the MCC once before and it was a disaster, ultimately leading up to the dreaded 1996 Merger options

i don’t want to go through ANY of that ever again...

I will have another play when i get home.... i have no life and a kids imagination so, what the heck.

I was imagining trying to get the Large Building block,  away from the street frontages as much as possible, for Local amenity reasons.

Is there a chance you could give it another go...  with the buildings around the Southern side of your original concept Image, but say move the Oval 25 Mtrs toward Punt Rd.?

Don't change your orientation of the Oval,  as it's almost the same as the Mcg.

This would mean a Building block South-West of the Oval,  around the Full-Back to Back-Pocket area of your Image...  and also Built  'above'  the AAMI Park car-park...  & joined together with a 2nd building block,  around the Southern Wing of your Image.?

What do you think,  Ding ?

I was asking the question SW.  If you are happy with none (so far) then that is your position and you are more than entitled to hold it.

That could possibly get up if the car race was traded for it. Give the local sports clubs back their facilities the entire 365 days. Give the residents back (most of) their park.

Seem to be a lot of ovals around there regardless of the race track.

Correct, and they get thrown off in January to make way for Ron's Folly. Puts a bit of a dent in the cricket season. Also the indoor sports clubs get thrown out. We need your netball court for 80 spare tyres.

Nice digs, shame about the race.

Not the mention the people who live and work around there just love the race. Absolutely live for it.

Someone who came along and promised no race in return for all year access to sport facilities, upgraded ovals, oh ... and an MCG-sized oval, pool, gym, offices, convention area, social club, iMAX, theatre and helipad might find considerable local support.

Might be a bit tough to get over the line, but this whole situation is tough. Ripping park land from well heeled East Melburnians is a hell of a lot tougher.

Ding, did you do this modification on this Image ?

This is brilliant. Now just imagine Richmond station being moved closer to the city around about gate 1 and opposite the tennis centre along with Hisense and Storms home ground.

We need to speak to both the storm and the rebels, and see if they may be willing to relocate near Marvel.

The place i think they wanted us to build a base, i know it's a long shot but hey you never know?

couldn't the other aami tenants actually just train on aami itself?

It's not just having to find a new home for us; it's also getting rejected by our government ever time we ask for help.

Yet all other clubs have been given money and help form the government.

Why does this keep happening?

At this rate we might as well build a floating oval over the Yarra.

I like Goschs Paddock because it's both close to public transport and near the MCG.

I don't see why we can't use the MCG for the admin staff and move the demon shop out from where it located at the moment? Maybe where the MCG shop is located and have both our demon shop and MCG shop together?

Because it is even smaller than our current allocation of space, and is too small for our current needs and there is no more room at the MCG. .

South Melbourne played at the Lake Oval which is within the Albert Park precinct.

I's now called Lakeside Stadium.

"Lakeside Stadium is a sports arena in Albert Park, Melbourne, Australia. Comprising an athletics track and soccer stadium, it currently serves as the home ground and administrative base for the South Melbourne FC, Athletics Victoria, Athletics Australia, Victorian Institute of Sport and Australian Little Athletics. Interesting that so much money is being poured into a stadium that is only used 8 odd times a year. You would think that someone would be insisting it be used more.

BTW... Corio which includes the metropolis of Geelong is considered federal Labour's safest non metropolitan seat.

Bugger Eddie McGuire. Give me Brian Cook, who wiped out Geelong's debt with one phone call, has helped the Cats go from strength to strength, has governments falling over themselves to splash around money, and doesn't put his foot in his mouth or make a fool of himself.

I love Ding's mock up Gosch's Paddock ideas. Storm and Victory have a perfectly good purpose built stadium to train in.

If we move out of AAMI Park, then they benefit by gaining more internal space. We should benefit from more external space.

During the week the MCG has rooms and plenty of them not in use, it seems such a bloody waste to me.

We have been trying to get funds from our government and they just keep kicking us in the guts, saying no every time.

How the hell do the all the other clubs get funding?

I would love to find out why?

I think this will be about the 4th or 5th time around every other club has had new club rooms, new locations given to them.

I remember Travis Johnston saying back when we were at the Junction oval, that at the time if we had what collingwood had we would have won 4 flags.

We are so far back from all other clubs, with everything, we will only be in the AFL just to make up the numbers.

It just makes my blood boil, that you hear of all the other clubs given money and help, and all we get is zero.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
