Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - ROUND 14

I'm comfortable with the changes because I trust our Match Committee to make the right calls, but I hope we don't regret being relatively short in the back half (compared to PA who have some decent talls to play through there).  Having said that, their small / medium forwards are in excellent form and need to be covered, but I think we have a group who will match them well..

Looking like Garlett's papers are stamped

The difference between his best and worst is just too far apart. Whilst his good games are good, his bad games effectively render us down to 17 on the field, such is his lack of influence. Not good enough for a now senior member of the team.

We're definitely too small and too slow down back. Lewis and Vince in the same backline is getting exposed for pace. No talls other than O-Mac could be exposed by a tall trio of Dixon, Westhoff and Ryder. Hopefully our midfield is on top and restricts the supply getting down there. If their mids get on top, it will get ugly.

Dees by 11 points.

No Frost or Petty???

Cox monstered omcd last week

who gets Dixon???  Omcd???

who gets Westoff???  J Smith ???

both too small , just my opinion

I thought Frost in to take Dixon and omcd gets westoff

True, but Cox is a different player to Dixon.  Oscar was beaten by his height, not necessarily through his strength in the contest, something Oscar has improved upon this year.  I think he is a good match up for Dixon.

Their forward line looks pretty darn good though so we'll have to be at our best to contain them, and that starts with the improvement through the midfield and our clearance work.

Unfortunately I agree. Too much of a liability. Wish it were different but what can you do?

Seem a bit slow up forward. Thought Jeffy in if Spargo out, but as another poster said, Harmes has to play more forward, same as Nibbler.

Add Vince, Lewis & Tyson feels like we will be slow across the ground.

Hopefully I’m wrong. At least most of our bigger players in TMac, Hogan, JSmith and even TSmith cover a fair amount of ground.

About time Spargo got rested.

Vindication for the weeks of misguided focus from many I guess.

Backline is a real worry. Hope the selectors know what they are doing.

If it starts getting ugly I can see T.Mac down back.

I reckon (hope?) their defence will have more trouble blanketing our forwards than we will blanketing theirs, but yes, this game will be won and lost tn the middle and around the contests.  Tyson is an excellent inclusion in that regard.

The idea of resting him was always stupid, but I was in favour of dropping him on form this week. I thought it would be Jeffy in to avoid a forward line restructure, but can see the logic in adding midfield grunt.

Smith or Weideman for Pedersen was inevitable.

We are going to miss Frosty's height, run and improved kicking - and his strength to match and face off Westhoff who is now relatively immobile in comparison to previous years; that match-up may have ignited Frosty to drive from CHB. I have just seen that Hibberd is expected to occupy that role - he's far better from a flank and it might be like MtBulla vs. MtEverest! Anyway, good to see Tyson back in to accumulate - let's hope he can deliver.

I’d confine Frost to stopping roles only now, ie only plays if OMac is injured. I know it feels like a bit of a waste given his athletic traits (huge, strong and fast), but unfortunately he has the footy IQ of a tree.

I’ve given up on the notion that he could be a damaging weapon in attack.

Tyson is a good choice and let us hope that his form has returned, alongside improved kicking/delivery since we have spent so much time with him, dropping hints at this area of focus. Can Viney match Wines in the centre? Can JV bring back his old clout and disregard for opponents?

It's funny how people say "I have faith in the match committee" when it's as clear as day they got it wrong in round 1 playing Maynard and Wagner who are nowhere near it.

I don't understand why you'd have faith in the match committee.

Neither Pedersen or T Smith are up to it. They only get in the way of Hogan and TMac up forward, are ordinary rucks, and give nothing at ground level once it's bounced. Why wouldn't you bring Frost in to provide the run you don't get from Lewis, Vince, and Jetta, the extra key position depth if Oscar and J Smith fail again, and a back up ruck that is quicker than all our one paced mids who watched Collingwood moonwalk the ball out of the middle?

I can't even be bothered talking about Tyson, who now takes us to 10 inside midfielders of the starting 22 and does nothing for the balance of the side.

Very underwhelming ins.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
