Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Darwin game dumped

The issue isn't our collective performance. Comparing it to past years when we have lost is pointless because we were crap and would have lost regardless. This is about conditioning and unnecessary physical strain during what is already a long marathon. Yes, let's travel to Darwin in round 15 ffs!

I'd rather be playing these two games one after the other, leading into a bye.

If you can find me one sports scientist or professional coach that says that playing in Darwin is a good idea (and by that I don't mean a neutral opinion) then I will agree. Football is a game of inches and we need every advantage we can get.

Playing in Darwin is not an advantage.

If you can find one that states the recent game caused the 3 most recent injuries I’ll eat my hat.

How many injuries did Freo pick up this week?

find a post by me that says it caused the injuries ... no you won't find one.

Playing in 28 degree heat and 80% humidity is not conducive to maximum fitness for a Melbourne based team. That's what I said.

We go for the money... there is no other reason whatsoever and it is time it stopped.

Same reason hawks play in tassy.

Gives the opposition a massive fitness advantage.

When?

We won the game in Alice Springs easily.
We won the game in Darwin easily.
We won the game after Darwin easily, running away with it in the second half.
It's a long bow to suggest Darwin will still be a factor this weekend.

Where's the massive fitness advantage to the opposition?

Maybe you haven’t been in the Red Center.

I have and it changes the bodies metabolism, even for a short time.

I would rather those 2 HOME GAMES were played in Melbourne

Yeah, like spending the past 50 years playing in Melbourne has proven so successful for us.   We ought to protest at these away games

Do you understand the difference between anecdotal evidence and actual research? This is not the first time this week I’ve seen you call on your very narrow personal experience to draw a very wide conclusion.

If we get less than 24000 at the G for a home game it actually costs the Club money. That  is break-even in the existing structure.

So transferring  home games to NT where we are given a Sh*^tload of cash makes perfect commercial sense

To be fair, it's not like we've been playing at our rightful home ground, Fortress Docklands

Oh FCS, I've walked the Larapinta trail in July and the weather is very pleasant. Not much different to physical activity anywhere else.

Utter Rubbish, and everyone would rather those two games be played inn Melbourne but there was and is a very good reason why that is so. I don't know why people keep questioning it.

We've been winning at Docklands since last year I think, because of our contested ball winners, and our ability to defend and 2 way running.

We've won at Alice Springs and Darwin.  And the follow up game.

It's not all about revenue for the club.

- - - - - - - - - -

But it is about exposure on TV. To attract new supporters and Kids.

And it helps break public perception of a white-Australia elitist sort of club.   Which we need to do.

The club has drifted away, over the past 50 odd years, from being an open club, to be too heavily focused on members and elitism's.

This needs to stop, because its a roadblock to many Aussies. And new Australians, and Our Original 1st people Australians.

IMO as we've become an easy beat team over the decades;,,,  we've gradually lost our 'Outer' Fan base of normal Aussies... and only held our rusted on members mainly in the North,,,  like the Mcc.

This inturn effects all the Board decisions taken over the past 50 years... as the majority of directors have Mcc approval and references from our very own high profile supporters who frequent that establishment.

This inturn does not help to Re-grow our outer fan base,,, by reopening the club to allow access to the outer fans.

This desired exclusivity is just that..... exclusionary.

Past seasons we've been on free to air.  Alice was free2air.

I don't watch foxtel, unless its put on in front of me.  I will never; never pay, for TV !!!

.....   if free2air dies,  my record and DVD collection beckon, as will my little boat. and the garden.

No, it’s a Rupert Murdoch subscriber Network

I didn't realise a TV knows where the signal comes from when someone watches it.

So, how many people watch an AFL game on Foxtel? Do you know? What about all the people who might watch it on AFL Live (like me)? Or who stream it otherwise on an internet channel? What about everyone who watches Foxtel in pubs and clubs?

You need to update your idea of "television" in terms of exposure.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
