Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Just watched the reply.

Jesus christ he was horrible. I'm sorry but Goodwin needs to swallow his pride and drop him and actually be made to earn a game. Such a bad look when a suppose leader is making horrible mistakes and then turning it back on blokes like Oliver who had the ball to call him out on it.

Leadership my [censored].

Jordan will play out the year and then i hope he becomes a coach.

I'd really like to see Jordan coaching right now - not playing - and so doing at the quarter, half and threequarter-time breaks as well. His marshalling is everything whilst his playing is such an obstacle at this point. He has even lost his footskills to a noticeable extent. But, as an authority and wise footballing asset, he is also almost impeachable.

This is what I want to know. I don't want him in the side, but need to know who we'd fill his spot with or what we'd do with a non like-for-like player. Very willing to discuss alternatives. The idea of on-field leadership is great (if it's actually happening), but we're hardly original recipe GWS having to field Power, Cornes, Brogan and Junior to help the kids.

I think you’ll find that once Lever is back in the side, Lewis will be out. Lever reads the play as well as anyone, full of leadership will impact many contest as that extra defender.

In the 2018 preseason and 2019 season he was an on-field tutor to Lever in defence structures, tactics etc.  Had Lever not been injured there is every chance Lewis would be playing less games now.

There is still some teaching to be done and Lewis is the only one that can do it.  He will stay in the team (unless they manage him for the long-distance games).

That Lewis is in the side for his leadership and ability to organise and marshall the troops is a real indictment on our on-field leaders.  Even when all our co-caps and vice caps played lack of on-field leadership was deplorable before Lewis came back.

Also, if folks criticise his disposal - look at Jones whose DE% was a mere 45%.  Jones' DE% has been poor this year and hurts just as much as Lewis'.

You can't build this into a solid joint... without the glue.

He holds the structures together,  as this sides main physical structure is so raw.  Lever, May, Frost, Weide, TMc, &/or  Keillty/Preuss.   Plus our Mids are on rotation, with some aging.

We need the glue and wisdom for this year...  to get this teams act together in the back half of 2019.

It seems a trifle, to rifle, a gun. Those who do are without patience. Let him weave his wisdom. He has contributed to many a win. The win today was yet another example. Let that stand. I stand with Jordan Lewis. So should you.

Some here are still of the mind frame... that we are better atmo,  than where we are truly at.  We are  'infants',  Re finals, still building,  and forming.

We are still forming our Spine, let alone filling out flanks.

We still need to add pace and skill to this young forming side.

In a sense Lewis is our Pediatrician.  And Goody is our 'GP'.

Can Salem and Hibberd not read the play and react to it across half back? Their play over a number of years tells me they can. And just how dumb are Oscar, Frost and Wagner is they don’t know their set ups by now?

Same goes for the midfield, surely they can work out between them where the wings and mids go. Any of the 7 defenders should be able to yell out if they are leaving gaping holes at the corridor or goal side of contests.

Lewis isn’t Hodge, Simpson or McVeigh, he’s a ball winning inside mid not a sweeping flanker. Matty Boyd did it for the Dogs in 15/16 but he was dropped and then retired quickly after that because the pace was too hot for him in 2017. I just don’t know how we are still plugging away with it in 2019.

Goodwin more or less assured Lewis of continuous gifting of games in his press conference.

“He’s earned them.” Something about being a champion of the game

So has Ron Barassi but I haven't seen Goody running to re-sign him....and give him a game.

The end comes when it comes, last years Prelim was the final siren and should have put an end to a great career.

I'm sorry, but you are blinded by stats if you believe that.  Is there a disposal efficiency under pressure stat?  If there is, Lewis rates with Cale Morton my friend.  Jones busts his [censored] at every opportunity.  Jones shows leadership by "saying" watch me boys...and exemplified it in quarter 2 against Sydney and in some parts yesterday.  Jones goes to hard places, and rarely has time and space.

Jordan's kicking errors, weren't helped by Omac waiting for the next train.  But bloody hell, oppositions don't rate Lewis and leave him go.  His kicking invariably is performed with time and space.

Jones getting dragged into the Lewis-veteran debate is a disgrace.  Jones is an asset; while Lewis has been a bone-fide liability.  He was past it years ago, but his body of work from PF 2018 to yesterday is putrid.  Furthermore, real leaders take feedback, which he clearly can't.

Similar with Froscar.  Omac has really dragged Frost into the kryptonite spotlight.  Frost is an asset with pace, and the simpletons had no idea calling for his head.

Agree he was terrible.

I just re watched the last play of the game, where Frost spoiled a Wingard mark 20 out, then tapped the ball on and then threw himself onto the ball, scooped it up and hand balled it to Lewis, who promptly fumbled it and dropped it and if not for Perracca grabbing it could have lost us the game. This on top of his multiple turnovers throughout the game. Lewis was diabolical and if his name was Bill Smith he would not get another game with us.

He was a great player but not anymore.

Then had the nerve to fire back at Olive after he called him out on his weak effort on just letting the ball over the line.

I bagged ANB for his fumbles but this bloke is borderline horrendous with his inability to keep his feet and fumbling at crucial stages of the game.

Letting the ball go over the line is being kind. That was right below me. He had time and more than enough space to collect the ball and take on the tackler.

If he had done so and beaten the tackler he had the option of a handball to Oliver or a kick down the line. A throw in gave us nothing.

But he didn't want to get tackled. And Oliver called him on it.

Late in last weeks game against the tigers he pulled up from a contest. He seems to be picking his contests, which leaders don't do.

It’s difficult to drop him at this stage only because our defence appears more organised with him back, but boy he is looking slow and unskilled. Those dinky kicks that used to be his bread and butter that would get us out of trouble are now becoming a liability.

I think he’s got one last chance with no one able to directly come in for him at this stage.

Also had a glaring moment early in the last years final against Geelong.
Having said that he got knocked into the next week a few years ago while going back with the flight.
Massive hit that may still play on his mind.

I’ve been a Lewis supporter but if he continues to cause turnovers and miss targets we cannot afford to have him in the team even with his leadership

Hawthorn moved him on so y is he still being gifted games. He said himself that this year he's prepared 2 play @ Casey so if the selection committee had any balls that's where he should be next week. I saw him also choose not commit when the ball was virtually at his feet - very disappointed with him at least Jones has a go.

On Yobbo 360, he admitted that he hasn't been great with ball in hand, but been pretty good when he hasn't got the ball.

WTF?

Also said Goody is sticking fat with him; which makes Goody the guy who looked like Col Sanders on the Titanic.

I'm paraphrasing, but he said on 360 last night that he's not that concerned about his substandard form and that there were more important things in life like his family. That's great, but I'm sure if I wasn't performing at work, my employer's stakeholders wouldn't be pleased to hear that. He is a man who has already checked out of footy.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
