Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Petracca in a rut?

Has been average all year and wouldn't have a problem if he gets dropped.

Petracca's looked really slow, and I'm half-hoping he's been carrying an injury - a groin or a knee issue, maybe - otherwise I'm pretty worried.

Clearly recall seeing him wrench his knee against Carlton. My guess is far from 100%.

Petracca can obviously do better  but today however his 15 possessions were minimal but mainly quality unlike some others who looked slow and look cooked so called. Quality players get themselves out of a rut  But Petracca is not in a rut. Furthermore if you doubt his ability l think he would be a waste down at Casey. I am glad that the doubters don't pick the side.

It’s in his head!

He needs to be habitually spending tons more time thinking seriously about his on-field play (as i bet TMac does).

Instead it seems he thinks about fun social things like Col Sylvia used to (and Sylvias best games beat Traccs best so far).

His mind needs to be full of a million abstractions about best handling every on-field situation. The rest will flow from that.

IMHO without this slight shift in mindset, Tracc will never become the huge star many of us think and hope he will be.

Or to put it all another way, he needs to pull his finger out and focus on work!

I did notice him quite upset with himself when he missed the shots on the footy show. Not a big deal, but did remind me of how young he is. Reminded me of the Hogan from two years back, losing confidence and getting down on himself. A bit harder to see it on game day compared with Hoges though

Needs to reset. Perhaps dominating a game or two at Casey will do him good, and remind him that his spot in the side isn’t a given, which I feel he might think is the case.

With a few players knocking on the door at VFL it’s unfair to let players who are down on form keep their spot based on reputation. Then what incentive do guys at Casey have to perform?

Yup. He has a choice to make -   put in the work and become great, or be Sylvia 2.0

Yep.  He should be Traccing DeGoey by now who has gone past him at a rate of knots.  Tyson pls.   A good stint in the McGoos to work on his tank, 2 way running (especially defence) and goal kicking off HFF.

We cant afford to carry half baked pretty players who wont go when it's their turn under heat in finals.

McGuire knew exactly what he was doing when he invited him onto the footy show before this game it's all gone to his head.

We got built up to be knocked down by all and sundry, we looked tired today no excuse  i hope my observations of today are right and we come back after the bye firing on all cylinders.

Smart post. McGuire has done this before; Introducing him as a "...Superstar..."

Really?

I have felt he has been overrated all year and was showed up in endeavour by Joel Smith, spargo in tight spots ,  and a few others.

I'm not sure what his tricks/strengths are either.

Seriously worried if he can make it.

Perhaps the way to handle this is to sit him down and outline how they think he can be a really good player and play 200 for the club.

They might outline that at the moment he is not playing to his capabilities and here is a list of X, Y and Z he needs to work on.

Tell him he has the bye to show a real commitment to X, Y and Z (assuming he is deficient in X, Y and Z as some commenters here infer) and if he does not he will be in Casey without any thought.

Perhaps also indicate he has until end of season to prove that he really wants to be a football player. Also clearly indicate his KPIs and relay the fact that if he continues to lack focus and worry about social media etc etc then he will be traded. Also indicate it's ok to have interests A, B and C, and he's young etc etc, but he is paid a lot of money to be a professional football player and attitude and application should reflect that. Oliver is a good example of what to do right after going off course a bit (who could forget the epic trolling of Martyn last year.)

Assuming of course he is not injured (why playing if so) and he has deficiencies and isn't just "off" (we dropped Tyson and others for being off), and assuming the club doesn't already do that. (I only say the above that there seems to be a lot of coasting going on.)

I turned the game off at half time as it ruined our family day (wife Collingwood). My 3YO son had the presence of mind to realise I was not ok, and took me out on our deck to play. Which was a smart move. So, bearing in mind, what I saw of Petracca, both yesterday and year to date, has not inspired confidence at all.

Still not fit enough, still doesn't get enough possessions, still doesn't hurt teams when he does get the ball.

He is possibly the most talented player on the list, but on performances he is a borderline selection at the moment.

If he wins the ball within 60 metres of goal he should be having a shot, not passing sideways and backwards.

Sadly De Goey has gone way past him as a player. De Goey takes the game on and backs himself in to make things happen. He looks super fit and wins the ball in important places. Petracca seems happy flitting about on the periphery.

I think everybody associated with the Demons have gotten ahead of themselves, we were ripe for the picking yesterday. Mcguire and Co saw us coming from a mile away yesterday, pitting our downfall while we soaked and bathed in the Sunlight and our own bathwater.

Im kind of glad this hype game is over, great cause, great man because it was all a out Melbourne feeling good about ourselves, did you hear anything about Collingwood in the build up? No not a single thing and thats how Collingwood like it.

We got hustled yesterday by a Yankee and the rest of the Collingwood Football Club and thats what hurts most.

Put him on the half back line as a Vince replacement.

It's probably not as silly as it sounds, he's actually a poor shot for goal so worth a look I reckon, unsure if they will try it at 8-4 though. He's a good mark and reads the play well. Just needs to stop trying to kick the wind out of the ball every time he has it.

I was serious.

He is a strong 1 on 1 player.  Reads the play well and is a good strong field kick.

Good overhead.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
