Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I just like the fact that we obviously had a plan for the trade period and have executed it cleanly and (compared with most other clubs) quickly. I assume much of the work was done months ago getting the players interested and negotiating terms, but the deals with the other clubs (ie, Freo and Hawthorn) still had to be done. The club deserves credit for its ability to achieve its desired aims.

It’s been mentioned a couple of times, but the fact Langdon is always on the move and at speed, will improve us instantly. For a team that relied on chaos, we were very flat footed in 2019.

The way Richmond run the ball is purely due to the fact that at any given point, 80% of their side is trying to run to create an option or space for someone else.

If we can get back to running for each other, it will go a long way to helping us jump back up the ladder. Both T-Mac and Weid are lead up forwards, so they should be licking their lips at the thought of genuine movement on either wing

Just watched the highlights package on the MFC website - he’s always sprinting, looks unreal.

Wish we could’ve landed two of him.

He could actually be the blue print for Jayden Hunt (on the other wing). Over to you Mr Burgess.

Can’t help but think Langdon and Jayden Hunt are very similar players.  We need to get these two using their pace and run.

Hunt can be wasted down forward and I’d like to see him also considered for the wing position.

I’d like to think Langdon on a wing has the licence to run.

Nah, Langdon is an incredible endurance runner, extremely consistent, and does everything you'd want an elite outside player to do, just has iffy disposal at times

I think Langdon has better vision and sees how the play will develop quicker than Hunt.

They are both quick, but Langdon is able to run all day.

Langdon has speed and elite endurance. Hunt has speed, does he have elite endurance required to play on a wing?

2018: Oliver wins contested ball and fires out a pinpoint accurate handball to a running Harmes who doesn’t break stride and instinctively every player breaks hard.

2019; Oliver wins contested ball and handballs to Harmes knees who fumbles a handball to Brayshaw’s feet who under pressure turns it over. While the whole team second guesses do I break or defend? Too late turn over, flat footed witches hats look like amateurs. Rubbish game plan ect ect.

Improve the basic skills over the preseason will turn the ship. But if we don’t, running machines will do little to improve us.

Agree.

We have too many players whose hands go to hips after being involved in a play.

We need players that can run all day. Langdon looks good, Hunt needs better endurance.

Fair point, although a little too much blame resting on Oliver's shoulders in this example for my liking!

Sorry wasn’t meaning to single out any player. All of the names could be interchanged with any other player in 2019 example but the 2018 example had to be Oliver, as some of his work was pure poetry!

Exactly. We have plenty of runners on our team. We win the ball but it's quite literally handball the issue to someone else. like my work!

Definitely a fair comment, but our running issues don't just apply to spreading from stoppages.

Turnovers in our forward 50 and the ball rebounding quickly out the other way require midfielders who are able and willing to run two-ways, hard. Similarly, generating turnovers inside our defensive 50 requires options to release the ball, and they in turn require run.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
