Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - ED LANGDON

Seems premature considering he's contracted until 2019.

FREMANTLE young gun Ed Langdon may still have 18 months to run on his contract, but that has not stopped Victorian clubs from chasing the explosive 22 year-old.

Melbourne has been pursuing Langdon for some time, although there is no suggestion the evasive ball-winner will seek a trade at season’s end.

The Demons may have to bide their time, as will St Kilda, Collingwood and North Melbourne, all of whom have showed interest in the former Sandringham Dragon winger in previous years when he has been out of contract.

Foxfooty.com.au understands Demons national recruiting manager Jason Taylor has long been a big fan of Langdon.

I suppose that is the reason he would be offered for trade this year if he wants to go.

If Freo wait until next year he could just refuse a contract and put a price on his head assuming his desired club finishes low enough on the ladder.

BTW I assume the draft picks for the delisted players etc are not tradeable. Would not be hard to manipulate the system if they were.

PS: I'd never heard of Ed Langdon before today !!

I had literally never heard of Ed Langdon until the weekend when I saw a quarter of the Freo game. Just assumed he was from WA and a relative of that white haired muppet who used to play for West Coast and now makes a living stirring s*** in the WA footy media.

Brother of Tom at Collingwood, however very different players.

Does anyone know if the bloke is any good?  I've heard of him but have no idea if he can play or not.

He's good. Great link player with a good tank that can win the hard ball when required and kicks goals.

how many more times can we burn Freo?, Colin Sylvia didn't set the house on fire over there. I reckon Ross would be a bit suspect. Most of our offloads recently haven't had a dramatic turnaround. Those that we lost unwillingly are a different story...

Hes a good player who wins a lot of the ball.  More of an outside player who would compliment our big ball winnings mids.  Hes doing well at Freo but would go to another level in a great midfield as the icing on the cake and outside run.

I would take him for sure. Lewis and Vince are almost done and Jonesy is just into his 30's...  we must continue bringing in talent and midfield depth.

And at 22 Langdon is the same age as our mountain of young talent coming through.  If the club know they arent getting Gaff,  this may be the backup plan as he does look a bit like Gaff 2.0.

An expression of interest over a longer time is healthy recruiting when availability is not current. Heard about this fella; it seems like he is a pretty tasty recruit and one whom we should watch for, as long as it takes. We are always going to need good disposers of the football from those with reputations of 'outside running'.

Then again, despite his enormous talents and occasional application thereof, Colin had more that the 'normal' training footballer and lifestyle - and decision-making - to contend with against the more highly committed that we see in most others, and these combined factors did little to bring him to the potential and longevity that might otherwise have taken place.

In strong drafts, we could do a bit with a number of 2nd Rnd and 3rd Rnd picks.

We could trade up fairly well.

I would be looking to trade off Kent back to the West, if we could get something decent with tour returns.

Wet Toast might be looking to top up their list, as they think they're not pretenders. They might like some insurance for cover, as they're window opens in the breeze.

Big fan. Creative forward who can play midfield link role.  Good skills. Draft bargain at pick 54 in his draft year.

Had hoped we might grab him in his draft year, but Oscar ended up still being on the board at pick 53 (Oscar was potentially a 2nd rounder, thought that the Bulldogs might grab him earlier). Can't really fault our selections in 2014, but sounds like Taylor really liked Langdon as well.

A small forward who was projected to move into midfield, looks like he's developing into the player we hoped JKH might become

What pleases me it that we are openly active in seeking out new players. Another characteristic of a destination club.

I also think players would be actively seeking us out as a club to join as well.  Why go to Norf, Carltank, the Druggies or the dodgy pricks from Moorabbin when you could join a gun team on the rise?  The choice is easy.

Opportunity, of course

But if you think yr good enough to be best 22 - and I think part of the confidence of players is such that they absolutely believe they are - then yes, yr preference would be to go to an emerging club as opposed to a lower level battler

Accchhh!! Another stuffed up draft selection. We picked up a dud the pick before he went and got O Mac when we could have had him. :)

But seriously this was definitely one of the better trade and draft periods we've ever had.

Traded pick 23 for Frost and what became ANB and O Mac in the draft. That's got to be one of the great trades of all time.  I'm happy to admit I was one squealing at the time that we'd given up pick 23 for Frost who was on our radar but for a much later pick. But what they did with the picks40 & 53 we got as well was sensational. Both expected to go in the 2nd round.

Also traded in Garlett & 83 for picks 61 79

Also upgraded a player who had been delisted and redrafted onto the rookie list...............

........Neville Jetta.

Interestingly Pat McKenna is only one of 4 up to Langdon's pick 54 in his 2014 draft who hasn't played a game yet.

Not to mention drafting a couple of handy players with our original picks 2,3 & 40, Petracca, Brayshaw & Stretch.

Up until this year he'd butcher the ball relentlessly. Now he's starting to hit his targets.

Reminds me of Harmes, but a little smaller and faster.

I think he'd play half forward or wing for us and add a hard runner.

Freo aren't giving him up in contract though, he's one of their bright spots, so he's a target for the end of next year.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
