Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Such amazing news to wake up to in Lisbon this morning. Great result.

Nev and Omac I assume are regulation signings now. Brayshaw probably will sign soon too.

Wouldn’t it be awesome to get Jesse to sign an extension before the year is over? A flag might help this.

Oh how I miss Lisboa!

Indulge in a few Pastéis de Natas and your day will get even better! Resistance is futile!

PS Very happy Tommy put pen to paper today - sparing us all the inevitable and boring "will he/won't he" press narrative for the remainder of the season. Good work Tom!

I remember when he first went forward and i thought, oh dear....clutching at straws here, i didnt think he could kick straight. Wow talk about an elite forward. Just gets better.

I called for TMc to go forward and to ruck... when both Gawn and Spencer were both injured.

Genius move in the end. Interesting that Mahoney stated Tom was drafted as a forward/ruck who then had to play back

Which game was it when we first trialled him in the forward line in the second half of a match, and he suprisingly kicked a few and always looked like a solid lead up target? At the time it seemed kind of odd and gimmicky. Oh how times have changed.

The same thing is said about Oscar Mcdonald playing forward in juniors. Are you thinking what i'm thinking? Don't need a defence if it never goes down there. :roos:

If my memory is correct it was v WCE in Perth, we won after he kicked the sealer.

Pretty sure it was against Adelaide the first time.

That was definitely the break out game, but we did experiment with him for one last quarter i believe in an MCG game. Doesn't matter though, just curious.

Sure you're not confusing him with Garland or Rivers vs Essendon in 2012?

Found it. 2015 Round 15 vs Essendon. Paul Roos saying he threw a few things around with Tom Mac up forward in the last quarter. He kicked a goal and he missed 2 set shots. Video "sprayed shots cost the Dees"

http://www.afl.com.au/match-centre/2015/15/ess-v-melb

And in the highlight video as he marks Derwayne R saying: "Of all the people to go to, and Essendon have left him free"

Long time ago lol, sorry about that. It didn't cotton on that he was going to be a dangerous forward at the time, but he did take some good marks on the lead, which felt odd at the time, seeing our CHB up forward.

Great news! i used to hate this guy in the past as a backman with his poor foot skills and decision making, now I love him as a forward for his straight kicking. I love the turn around!

It makes me wonder why he wasn't trialled as a forward earlier in his career. He was a forward as a junior, and whether we needed key position defender is irrelevant when he is a lot better as a forward.

Last week at the dogs game, I noticed Oscar Mcdonald having shots for goal and he was slotting them beautifully with great technique. I wonder whether he could go forward in the same manner. On the other side, I wonder if Weideman could play back. He has the speed  and aerial prowess but he wouldn't need to mark it. Simply bring it to ground. Food for thought.

Weidemann reads the play well and certainly shows courage into packs.

I guess the match committee have at least considered this.

Question for training watchers : is Sam still working exclusively with tall forwards?

just watched tom in his media conference. he speaks very well and intelligently.

he won't be, but i could easily picture him as a captain. maybe the club could use him more in the way jw was used.

Thanks, well done. I couldnt remember when he first went forward, but yes it was under Roos. Just another feather in the Roos cap i guess. Its a stroke of genius now.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
