Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Brayshaw's disposal was shocking unfortunately.

Since his necessary layoff, Brayshaw's disposal is the next thing in a list to be rectified. He will be a new man and a great footballer when all is done. Learns quickly, too. Onyer, Gus!

I’ve seen stupid and pointless stats, but this takes the cake. As if Robbie Flower’s and Kevin Murray’s legacies have been somehow diminished. Idiotic.

Stats can't be "idiotic".  Stats are stats.

How you interpret them can be idiotic.

It doesn't seem all that fashionable to like Jordan Lewis, but I thought he was very good again today and is having another good year.

He'd be fairly happy with his career move too, he chose us over 10 other clubs, and it didn't really work last year. He would be thinking flag #5 is at least a genuine possibility now.

How was that check-sided kick of his off the Clarry back half clearance that opened up the ground under extreme frontal pressure. Pretty sure it resulted in a goal too.

Thought he was really, really good again. Has been great since the Hawthorn/Richmond debacles, where he kept losing his feet and was out-positioned too often.

Great win Dees. I love the consistency we are at last showing. I thought a really good all round performance.

One question....I am trying to work out why with Max dominating the ruck, why we were very clearly beaten in the clearances. This has been  one of our strengths this year, along with contested possession, where we have been almost off the charts. Doesn’t seem to add up. More importantly, what should we do over the next 9 days to make sure it doesn’t happen Monday week where we will be up against a much better ruckman.

They sharked off Max all day. That's how they won the clearances. We're very aggressive at the stoppages and if Max doesn't win it, we tend to struggle on the inside. The pleasing thing was we murdered them on the outside yesterday, which has been a weakness of our for a few seasons.

I thought we were very disorganised at the clearances anyway. Particularly, early on.

Your challenge next week is to watch him entirely with rose coloured glasses and report back. Not saying he’s been great, but I reckon you’ve let a predisposition creep in and poison your perspective.

I've only watched the replay but I thought the Doggies were up and ready and pretty organised yesterday. They would have beaten a lot of sides the way they played yesterday. Not having a decent forward apart from the Wanton Bontom hurts them though. There's something settled and organized about the Demons this year. It's like they've turned a 'mental' corner. Our forwards are basically just very classy...

You may be right. The only thing I’ll note is that he’s still in the side - not a bad effort for someone mostly awful.

Who would you say would take his place? He's playing games on experience at the moment and a lack of back half depth for kickers.

We're getting away with his iffy kicking and decision making under pressure, but I'm sure Goodwin would much prefer another Lewis.

It’s strange you would ask me who to replace him with: I wouldn’t replace him at all, it was you who said he was awful! But I guess if we’re playing that game, I guess I’d be keen to replace him with anyone if he’s that bad.

I’m only engaging you at all on this one because I enjoy your posts mate. Normally I just ignore posts that I think are excessively critical (or excessively gushing). Just saying, next week as an exercise, deliberately put yourself in the frame of mind that you’re actively trying to pick his contribution to the team. I just want to know what you see. If you still think he sucks, we’ll agree to disagree.

Bernie Vince has played some excellent games as a shut down defender over the past month.  He still has the odd brain fade, but to say a bloke has been 'mostly awful' during the best 6 weeks we've had in a decade is strange.  The fact we've had close to a month of no changes is an indication that no one has been close to awful in that time.

What? Who said that?

All that stat shows his how many losses Nathan Jones has been through to get to 75 wins. When compared to someone like Joel Selwood, who debuted a year after Jones but raised his 75th win in around 2010 or so, it just serves a nice reminder to non-MFC supporters of how hard Jones' career has been.

Vince has been nowhere near horrible this season. He’s been good in most every game, very good v Adelaide. The odd [censored] kick clouds too many people’s overall judgement. Guilty of it myself.

Yes it’s interesting the way some of our best kicks occasionally have absolute howlers sometimes: Vince is certainly one although generally I think he has been a lot better this year than last; Salem is another. His kicking is a real asset most of the time but has had two or three times when he has tuned it over in the back half through poor delivery and selection.

Let's not forget he's also played some very good games as a run-with players as well (at least once this year).  He offers some versatility.  I wouldn't be surprised to see him run with Sidebottom on the weekend.

Another fantastic win - was really proud of the boys how they overcome the early setbacks and just powered away to win comfortably.

Hopefully, just another game to add to the bielf -  that success is a combination of hard work and a positive mind set.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
