Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

If we are going to have a sub story within a story why shouldn't we discuss not having Melbourne Officials, players appearing on the Footy Show until Newman has been removed, especially as how well Sunday's Celebration went by everyone.

Too true.  A poll on at what point in the game did you stop being anxious would be interesting.  In my case a few minutes into Q3 (which is a record since the 1960's).

I did a victory lap around the loungeroom when we broke the chris sullivan line right before half time.

Second half spent with my feet on the table. Pure luxury

That was it! Thanks!

I’m really chuffed with the way we are going. Love the women’s team, the anti gambling initiative, the NT development work, Casey, and the way we are playing.

Kudos to Bartlett, Jackson and all the people who work at our club.

What a fantastic performance overall. And after watching the game again via replay, all I can see is upside, because we made a number of fixable errors that cost us during the game - although obviously not a lot!. We gifted the Crows goals (think Salem twice) and butchered goal opportunities ourselves (think tmac and Hannan). Certain players disposal are works in progress (think Jones and Brayshaw - especially Gus - and for this game Salem). Unfair criticism after a great win? Maybe, but fix these skill errors and we become a premiership side.

I had a quiet laugh to myself when Melksham kicked that goal after a Crow fumble a few cm from our goal line.

It reminded me of the sort of things that regularly happened to us in the bad old days, I remember flinching more than once when our ineptitude was exposed in the back half.   (Matthew Lloyd and Al Nicholson standing, wrestling with the ball on the goal line and Lloyd nonchalantly pushing it backwards over the line)!

Thanks. Thought you meant we had decided not to appear on the Footy show, didn't realise it was a suggestion to Newman's comments

Gerard Wheatley this morning on SEN said we remind him of Geelong of 2007 (we all know how that story played out).

I actually looked at the 2007 season after the St.Kilda win wondering if we could somehow mirror something similar. Geelong were 2-3 & all sorts of questions were been asked after a home loss to North. Similar to us. The cats then went on to storm the competition and win 15 on the trot. I’m not saying we will do the same but the style we are playing atm flies in the face of what everyone else is doing... As Gerard said Geelong was doing the same in 2007

The opportunity is there. Up to the players and how much they want to be Premiership Winning players or just AFL Players....

Not correct sorry.

They would be crazy to do running before the game, need to be ready to play if a last minute injury.

Cant hide the fact they are doing training, anyone at back of grandstand would be able to see them. They have to do a solid workout, as no game this weekend (every non playing emergency does it at some stage of weekend) and footage was in first quarter, Bruce said they were still at it at half time.

They have to do the full warm-up and prep as if they're going to play. They're only free to do their own work once the game starts. Standard practise.

Gus doesn't register a single vote in todays Age.....

Shows how little they know - perfect 10 from the coaches!
10 Angus Brayshaw (Melb)
4 Michael Hibberd (Melb)
4 Jesse Hogan (Melb)
4 Jack Viney (Melb)
3 Max Gawn (Melb)
3 Clayton Oliver (Melb)
1 Jake Lever (Melb)
1 Christian Salem (Melb)

Interesting that other than Gus and one of Hibberd, Hogan and Viney (one of must have 2 + 2) the coaches saw it quite differently.

Max is now 4th overall:
51 Nat Fyfe (Frem)
46 Patrick Cripps (Carl)
45 Trent Cotchin (Rich)
45 Max Gawn (Melb)

How proud must Gus' family be after what he went thru and they went thru.  Its the heartwarming side of footy.  Terrific to see him up and about in every way.

Yes, Adelaide was missing Sloane, B Crouch, Walker, McGovern and Seedsman (and Smith for the year).

But they still had Jacobs, who was destroyed by Gawn. They still had Jenkins, Betts and Lynch. They still had Talia, Doedee (who they've been fawning over all year in Lever's absence). They still had M Crouch, Gibbs, Atkins, Laird (3rd most possessions in the league to date).

That line up would beat many sides this year. Indeed, with the Crouch brothers and Sloane missing large portions of the year, they were still 6-3 going into the game.

We've now got wins over North (6-4, 120.49%, 5th on the ladder, and at a time when we had injuries to key players and they were close to full strength) and Adelaide (6-4, 109.68%, 7th).

That puts us at 2-2 against the current top 8, with one of those losses by a kick.

We shouldn't get carried away, and we have a much harder fixture post-bye than we do pre-bye, but maybe the narrative around us, that we haven't beaten anyone good, deserves further thought.

I  dont recall the media fawning over are shocking injury run last year.

So true.  It happened week in and week out.  I used to tell my little boys one day we will be like the good team and kick easy goals like they do and lots of them..  For years I told them this.  The last five weeks have been a joy.

This is the best it's been for us since the Crows game last year. I had a sneaky look at that game, and at a couple of other highlights, and the thing that struck we was it's clear to the naked eye that in the last 5 weeks we're playing better than we did at any stage last year INCLUDING the Crows game, which was probably our best win of the year. And by "better" I mean our game plan is way more lethal. Since Goody swung a few changes and allowed the side to spot up leading targets and get over the back, not just go up the line Neeld-style, we've got the whole footy world talking about us, and for good reason.

Can we just play the Crows every week?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
