Only place I’ve travelled to that was worse was Nice.

So over rated, other than The Louvre and the catacombs, Eiffel Tower was ok. But seriously has nothing on places like Kyoto, Edinburgh, Lisboa, Corio... ha ha

But you said it was nice?

The thing I love most is that we seem to have finally developed a killer instinct like a shark that's got the scent of blood in the nostrils. I think it was Healy on On The Couch who said the mantra at the club is to step on the necks of the opposition. That's a ruthlessness I've never seen at the Demons in my time. We have developed a hard edge but have talent on every line to really dismantle sides and not just grind out wins.

All this positive press makes me uneasy and I want to see us do it over a long period but bloody hell it feels exciting like we could be on the cusp of something really special.

It was Robbo on AFL360, apparently relaying what Lewis had said on 360 last week.

But as strange as it may sound, I reckon our supporters in the media (Lyon et al) will help keep this group pretty levelheaded. There's so much MFCSS about that you won't hear too much Carlton-like rubbish (ala "they know we're coming") and I think when the rest of the media is hyping us big time, this will balance us.

I don't think we handled the pressure of media hype earlier in the year, but now we're in our groove, it'll be interesting to see if we can handle the pressure of media hype as the season progresses.

I noticed that when Mackay fumbled that ball and Melksham pounced, no one went and got stuck in, I think Melksham thought about it for a split second but just celebrated with Hogan. Petracca was in the vicinity too. No doubt in my mind they would’ve been all over Mackay last year.

No doubt Goodwin’s message of being a strong but humble footy team is sinking in.

For the record I wouldn’t let Mackay hear the end of it.

So true.  It happened week in and week out.  I used to tell my little boys one day we will be like the good team and kick easy goals like they do and lots of them..  For years I told them this.  The last five weeks have been a joy.

fitzy's tunnel ball seems like just yesterday......

I get the feeling that Lewis is playing much better at the moment and maybe it's because he senses something special going on here, Bet he'd love so snare another flag, wouldn't that be the way to finish off a career, two flags in your last two years.

That would give him one more than the 5 Dermie likes to brag about.

I noticed it and thought it too, but I'm glad we didn't. Particularly, as Salem's was arguably worse moments later.

Yeah Paul’s is not bad (I’ve been to Paris that much I tried all the coffees). To be honest the coffee is the sideshow to the best pastries in the world anyway. And they nail the champagne.

Have just downloaded the replay so I can watch it on the way to London in a few days. Train ride sorted!

What's to brag about? Paris is a toilet of a city. Literally. There is dog crap everywhere. I mean everywhere.

Then there are the people... worse than the crap.

You’re crazy!

Like Melbourne FC, Paris is not perfect, but it’s easy to fall in love with.

I cannot understand how anyone doesn’t love this city. It is incredible. I come here so often for work, and still choose to come back on my holidays. That’s how much I love it!

So off topic, sorry.

We always do. Hardly ever stayin tge city, we always stay in outer suburbs to get a feel for the place and do day trips around.

Really found the place overated.

Just to clarify...

We're on a dream trot, the likes of which have been pure fantasy for all of us for years, and what may be the beginning of something very special, and we're so used to our new and rightful domination that within 20 pages we're talking more about whether Paris is a good city or not?

Ffs how bloody good were the Dees? They were awesome and inspiring, like a day's long walk up Montmartre during the fete de la musique. Thought Petraccas form looked much better, and love a game plan that brings the ball so close to goal that our accuracy is really marvellous.

How atrocious were the crows? Completely, like the smell of armpits on bus 22 in the Parisian summer as you stare out at people living on mattresses on the street. I still rate them above the likes of Cwood but theyre sitting right now about where I'd expect them.

Btw Paris has an estimated 1 tree every 22 persons. Amsterdam has 1 for 1. Clearly superior. Don't know about Melbourne's tree count, only its Footy team. The best in the land.

Fin.

I think early in the game, when the game is in the balance you go and get stuck into him.

But with the margin as it was, there was no need to do it and I'm glad he didn't.

I too noticed this. I think Trac had a quiet word with him but it was more of a sympathy thing and not getting stuck into him.

Think the boys invoked the mercy rule and didn’t kick him while he was down there. If there was still heat in the contest, they might have. He’d have been in a pretty lonely place sitting there dwelling on it by himself anyway. It was an awful fumble and everyone saw it.

Paris, I am biased (In love with an elegant French woman) but I love the place, it helps that I have friends and multiple places to stay (so for me people seem warm and hospitable), but food and wine is always a pleasure, galleries break your heart with the incredible beauty. I usually have a motorbike so the traffic is not such an issue. great shopping. Also many cool things to do with kids. Yes I have noticed the dogs, but hardly a deal breaker.  IF you are going to pot something, CDG deserves a whack, that place can be a nightmare, but lately I have been even having a good run with that airport.

Yeah.  It was so unusual for a team not to get stuck into a player in that situation it was very noticeable.  It's clearly been an instruction from Goodwin and I like it.  Reverse arrogance :)

Although you can see Petracca saying a few words to him (but not looking at him) as he was walking off.

If you have the time and inclination, it's worth a look at the Crows board on BigFooty, my son sent me a few snippets through last night, it goes from

Before the game - We have a few outs but we'll smash these frauds - They are downhill Skiers

Then after the game - The umpires are to blame - They had a midfield full of Faux tough guys - We fielded our B team - That free to ANB against Milerra should have been a push in the back to him - Jesse's handball in the first for a goal was a throw - It is a Vic conspiracy to push us to a flag - The Crows are so bad they made a dud like ANB look good

It just goes on and last night there were 75 pages of the tripe.

Inferno, I went there for some light hearted gloating myself. It's hysterical, they were going to crush us, we are seen as the AFL's pets and the umpires pets! Faux tough guys! There is no faux in our tough guys. The want Pykes head but even after that thrashing they don't rate us. So yes Dante as you say it is well worth a read, don't comment they will want to murder you.

I've watched that tackle a few time - I think its a fantastic technique - to push and then grab with the fingers and pull down. I know when I used to play, I couldnt be arsed grabbing in case I hurt a finger nail... there is no way that was a push in the back.

If you go into a oppo player to belittle him, it can go either way. Against a strong side down on form, being arrogant can cause the oppo side to fire up.

Or give them ammunition for when they are back to full strength, for next time.

This is how I would hope our players would react, in that case.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
