For me, premiership teams have quality in certain parts of the ground; ruck, clearance, midfield depth, key forward, forward half pressure, intercepting key defender, quality ball disposal off the half back line.  If you tick all of those boxes, you are well on the way to being a serious contender.  We also have a couple of players who we can rely on to do a shutdown job if need be (Vince in particular).

We have every one of those areas covered.  In many of those areas, we go close to having the best in the league.  Gawn is clearly the best ruck going around, Oliver has to be one of the best clearance players in the comp, our "first choice" midfield of Clarry, Viney, Jones, Petracca, Brayshaw and Salem runs as deep with quality as any team (and they are all competitors), our two key forwards work together better than any team, we have players like Spargo, Fritta, Melksham, ANB and Hannan who just all love to put pressure on, Lever is showing why we paid what we did and is working so bloody well with Oscar, and then you have Lewis and Piggy just sweeping off half back and hitting targets.

Don't get me wrong, we will lose some games in the back half of the year, but I seriously can't see any weaknesses.

If you did an All Australian team to this point in the season, I'd say we'd have 5 or 6 in the 22; Gawn, Hogan, Oliver, Jetta, Hibberd.  I'd even make a case for Oscar to be considered.

Hogan, Oliver and Gawn at this stage would be surely in there.

I thought that was odd. Why didnt they do that before or after the game?

They flew all the way to Alice, let them watch the game for the love of god.

Media managed without a doubt. TV cameras don’t just turn up in the hope of a couple of random players running laps. And what a message this sends!

I imagine they got into the ground very soon after and watched the bulk of the game.

It is grest to see Melbourne play ruthless team football with everyone doing their job. We now have a lot of tough footballers who also have great skill. CARN THE DEMONS.

Not correct sorry.

They would be crazy to do running before the game, need to be ready to play if a last minute injury.

Cant hide the fact they are doing training, anyone at back of grandstand would be able to see them. They have to do a solid workout, as no game this weekend (every non playing emergency does it at some stage of weekend) and footage was in first quarter, Bruce said they were still at it at half time.

It was particularly enjoyable to have one of the modern day genius’ of our game in Brian Taylor commentating today.

His astute observation in the second quarter of the courage Lever showed in leaving his man, to approach a marking contest and make a spoil, when Lever wasn’t within cooee of anyone was especially remarkable.

Ten seconds later he tells us he “reckons” Max Gawn has been knocked out.

This bloke is an hysterical peanut. I like a bit of charisma but Jesus Christ it’s like watching re-runs of the Benny Hill show when Taylor’s commentating!

At least Bruce Mc could call the names of the players.

Loved the line from BT. "Spargos  been a revelation since being moved forward this year"

Or

"TMAC has gone from strength to strength as the season has gone on"

Felt sorry for Daisy having to spend time in the desert with BT doing fluff pieces.

Can anyone point me at footage of team song sung in the local language?

Great to see the club persevering with communities up there.

I'm still in shock at the way everything has clicked now for both the seniors and vfl teams.

Go Dees

This will be to get the boys fit for next week. 2-3 players will be rested, i have no doubt

I have several theories:

1.  I passed away 5 weeks ago and am now in Demon Heaven where we win every week.

2. They have discovered a cure mfcss ( unlikely as I still got worried when the Crows rallied at the start of the last)

3. We might be a good side (bearing in mind if Gawn had slotted that goal we would be 8-2).

If that is the case then our number was up at exactly the same time and maybe many other Demon faithful also.

Maybe the whole Trump / Kim Jong happy fest actually took place 5 weeks ago but turned completely sour and the world as we knew it ended in a mass of mushroom clouds!

I think Etihad Stadium was attacked at Half Time in the Essendon game, and all who were present were dispatched to this strange afterlife.

It's enough to make me almost wish I knew some Crows' fans.  Almost.

That can be a great feeling. My neighbours, here in Adelaide, are not talking to me this morning as I have a little 'Demon' red and blue flag wafting in the breeze just outside my front door. Let me elucidate: the whole street is not talking to me. They are all hiding inside and their Crows flags have been taken away and are hidden somewhere - however, it is the morning for the garbage to be collected by the local council so I can guess where half of these Crows flags now reside. Good onyer, Dees! Not just a win, a total shellacking!

We've transitioned into an above average team that is getting very close to knowing how to win on a consistent basis - against any team.

And it's all related to talent levels with good coaching ... actually,  without the talent,  Goodwin would have no hope.

X amount of good players generally equals X amount of wins ... we're building a very good list of players but to get to a stage where we're superior to all others (like Brisbane,  Geelong & Hawthorn of the recent past) we've still got to add more talent.

2 finals this season at a minimum though ... that's how far we've progressed.  But you never know,  we might go all the way.  There is no super team standing in our way.

So in a nutshell, the crows in S.A. have ceased crowing.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
