Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Thoughts.

  • We were playing with a large number of players out of form at the start of the year and were doing ok.
  • Hawthorn game showed that we were out of form and gave us a reality check
  • We were mentally under the pump in the Richmond game with the aftermath of the Hawks game and were not on our game
  • 4 games against easy opponents, but we now have a number of players who are back in form.
  • This one is ours for the taking. They have a large number of players out and we are in red hot form. Lets do this!

We only have had our real game going since the Bombers match. Once TMac arrived our true game style was cemented.

The so called 'easy' opponents of the past 3 weeks has been invaluable & greatly assisted us in further fine tuning the way we play and what each role required. Fabulous test today, full of opportunities for all to continue this journey up the ladder, Go Dee's!

The surface looks crap. Not only dry but large chunks of grass coming up. The curtain raiser not doing much to help. Already been a few soft tissue injuries in this match. I tell you what, if we get injuries as a result of this match, I will be filthy. Combined with the 2 day less break next week, we will struggle to recover. Once again, I just feel this game yields money at expense of on field success

Currently the two best contested posession teams in the game.

The side with the highest 'for' total against the side with the second lowest 'against'.

Playing to be a game and percentage clear inside the top 4, with the loser of the game become that 'nearest chaser' for the top 4 spot!

I've had a remarkable flash of memory.

Round 9 2006. Top of the ladder clash against West Coast, in Perth. We pushed them all the way in a ripper of a game that was only decided late in the final quarter. West Coast went on to win the premiership while Melbourne managed an elimination final win.

Crucially, Melbourne finished one win outisde the top 4, after blowing two games in the same season against a Carlton team that only managed the priority-pick-approrpiate 4 wins for the whole year.

This season, we've dropped the hammer on the bottom teams and particularly the Blues. We have a forward line to rival the Neitz-Yze-Robertson-Davey combo we were running in 2006, and the rest of our 22 has both quality and depth that the Daniher era could only dream of. The more I look back, the more I think Daniher was a genius.

I'd actually see a win today as a kind of 'chapter change'. The tangible and umistakable start of a new era.

I'm also expecting a terrific game.

Great analogy, Goff.  I remember that game in Perth and it was a ripper.

So I have a kiddie matinee show thingo I have to attend,  and if I get caught on the phone by Mrs Naked I’m dead meat.  So I will be blind to probably the first half at least, unless I can a few dunny runs.

Adelaide play a tough contested brand of ball.  We have to serve it straight back.  Max will dominate Jacobs, their midfield will ruck to him.  Need to win the midfield, and shut down their HB run.  And keep Eddie quiet.

1 goal per quarter better, plus a late surge sees us home by 35 points.

I will watch the replay later.

I'm moving house and with showers coming later, I have to trailer the leather lounge now.  Just catching a breath before the trip. Then back.

I hope to catch the 2nd half Live, but I am recording.... thanks FreeToAir.

Seedsman a late late change.

Been in good form

That's a huge change for them.  As you say, he's been in good form and he provides lots of run from half back and through the wings.

Not surprised, he’s done a terrible job with the state of the grass.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
