We shouldn’t get too smug about Watts. He’s had more marks, kicks, handballs, goals and tackles that Fritsch this year. And it’s not as though our astute recruitment of Lever is reaping us any rewards at this stage.

If he left us, as many of his former teammates have done, for more money or success, then let him have it. But he fought to stay. Not sure why this thread becomes the Jack Watts bashing thread every week..?

I wish him the best, but he’s a Port player. Time to move on.

You must have been very impressed when he completely f****d up that goal opportunity in the 4th. How he made so many mistakes in one passage defies logic.

He's been half paced all game.

He’s been half paced all career bar a handful of games

Would be very interesting to see that broken down into set shots etc.

With forward pressure I am not surprised by the seemingly low conversion rates.

Mind you Greene and then Shield kicked two beautiful goals on the run from different pockets for GWS.

On a more serious note the team that cracks the accuracy stakes will go far. How they do it who knows.

Think the Swans were 1.7 from set shots last night

What do you mean, Wise?

I'm in the right section to bag out Wattsy, aren't I?

It's not just this thread big fella.  You seem to have devolved into making everything Watts related yourself.  Before everything went down with him I thought you used to contribute some really worth while stuff.  Now you've allowed yourself to sink to their level.  I guess I'm hoping you can find your way back out again. Cheers.

You're right, I've allowed that to happen

But, the vitriol, the bitterness had to be addressed and most of the posts where bordering on abuse

See how we go

Cats won, btw

Well I don't care what anyone thinks but Watts tonite showed why he wasn't wanted at Melbourne. Half hearted was the term used in the commentary box I think.

Yes but Fritsch is in his first year. I think I’m right in saying Fritsch had 7 tackles in one game. Watts has never done that. Anyway the point is moot.

A week is a long time in footy.  The Dogs were praised for their efforts last week, now they've served up some absolute poo yet again to be 1-4 after 5 rounds.  Is Bevo under the pump?

They won a flag 18 months ago. You get a few credits for that!!

FWIW Fritsch has had 5, 3, 0 and 3 tackles this year.

If MFC does not get our backside into gear and win a couple soon we are in deep poo.  Sides not expected to make 8 are doing much better than us.  Finger out of bum time for this club.

What about that nice Lindsay Thomas; I have always had a soft spot for his clean fair minded style of footy.  A lovely fellow!

LOL you guys are obsessed. He's one of their highest disposal winners. Been involved in a lot of plays. Covered a lot of ground. Has quick hands and decision making. Been asked to swing across half back and the forward line. Laid some tackles. Landed a huge bump in a recent passage of play. But yeah because he's not Dangerfield he's a spud who should be in a dress.

And we're still paying for him!

Good thing we got rid of him so we can make way for hard nuts like..Bugg and...you know...all those other amazing half forward talls we have in our line up.

I'm happy to have Bugg instead of Jack, and i think he, Bugg, will pay his own way overall this year. Mac back will straighten up our forward line, and he, along with Weideman when ready, will take care of the height. Thanks

Yep, Clint summed it up.  Fritsch is a 21 year old who already shows courage in the air.  Jack runs around with the intensity of an indoor cat and has virtually no impact on the game.

Hawks losss was shocking.

Yet  if Maximus kicked true we would have 3 wins. We will have a clearer picture in about 72 hours.

Menzel also missed some sitters before max missed his and cats should’ve won by more also

And we kicked 7 behind in the last quarter many of which were gettable, we should have won comfortably

the whole port side were average, not just watts - although i thought he had a classic watts game in that he almost nearly but not quite did some very nice things, and then stuffed up too many

some other dees and pear supporting mates have a guessing game in which round he'll be dropped to the sanfl - i said by round 13; he's been dropped by every senior coach he's had, so it's bound to happen unless he gets the equivalent of jake melksham's free pass from simon goodwin from ken hinkley

this season is so unpredictable at this point in time - every team has ups and downs

except for wretched hawthorn, who're looking good AGAIN

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
