I'm not sure if anyone is interested for me to post these stats every week but I think they are only available to Telstra members (or they were last year) so apologies if I'm wrong

Our best Disposal Efficiency for the year @ 75.3% (AFL average usually around 73%).  Hitting targets more often by foot hopefully!  Seemed to be the case when watching anyways and seemed to happen off and on for the entire match rather than dropping off half way etc.

These stats are awesome., thanks for posting.

Do they calculate them for every player? Does every player wear a GPS?

Incredible that Brown and Hogan were 1st and 2nd for distance covered.

The current 30 second rule is a typically mindless rule only the AFL can word.  There is nothing to stop a player taking as long as he likes off the clock in a tight finish.  All he has to do is walk back 100 metres and as long as he starts moving forward at a snail's pace within the 30 seconds, he won;t be asked to play on.

So doubtless the umpires will invent a rule on the spot to stop it if it happens.  But I can just see it already - Sideshow Ben will be allowed to do it because it is his 'natural' arc......

According to those stats, Hogan's top speed yesterday was equal to that of Hartung and Garlett.

Wow.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
