they are both rubbish. if they play oscar on brown, brown will kick 10. seriously.

No disputing that Nash. ..but you reckon he can match Brown in the air? Do you have any recollection of how Brown has torn up our defence in recent times? Fairly blanket comment by you that factors in nothing in regards to OMACs strength vs weakness

Absolutely need to stop any easy delivery to Brown - he would one on one beat most defenders if he gets it put in front of him.

We can only hold him down with a team effort.

I know it's a bit late but havent had a chance to get near a computer but good on Adelaide for making sure Rance played 1 on 1 footy and had to have an opponent to look after rather than just let him do what he does best.

Yes he had a good 2nd half but he was made accountable in the 1st half and I hope other clubs do this.

Should we be throwing money at Lynch?

I spy 4 teams that are shyte. (Roos, Blues, Suns and Saints).  I expect to add Collngwood and FRE to the list before the weekend finishes (and hopefully a trounced Lions too!).  If you took an international guest to either of the games at Etihad, you would have to apologise pretty hard.

Expect the saints will bounce back, suns will develop, blues will pinch a few.  No easy games this year.

I agree re Roos, Blues, Saints and pies.

The suns however are a seriously talented team with some genuine stars. You can only beat the teams you go up against and so far they’re looking pretty good.

Carl and GC is a dreadful game ( not as bad as yesterdays though ) where they continually turn it over by foot and tackling pressure is near zero.

Surely the Honeymoon period is now over for Bolton, he should start copping a bit of heat now.

No way. Carlscum are full of young stars that will take them to a 3peat. Their supporters told me that so it must be true.

Carlton are terrible, particularly without Kruezer, but the pressure that the Gold Coast midfield and forwardline have brought is what we need to emulate. It's Richmond-like. We were nowhere near this last week. We need to bring it all year.

The Suns are much better than last season, albeit Carlton we porridge today.

Gold Coast don't seem to be missing Ablett

The absence of pre game prayer meetings probably gives them a chance to listen to the coach

Ironically, losing Gary Ablett may have cured the Suns of their individualistic culture.

Rocket did a lot of the cleaning out but Stuie Dew clearly had them playing brilliant pressure football.

Two boil overs in two days. Melbourne be wary tonight!

Not many orange people here at the MCG. Not many of anybody in fact.

Half the ground is still reserved seating so the pies make money.

Go orange men. It will be so nice watching the pies go down.... I hope

Oh dear that was absolutely terrible for young Phillips.

Broken leg kicking the goal post.

best thing to happen to them he leaving , even though he had really left last year.

they will improve without him , they will have to stand up themselves and not look for him all the time.

the kids will come on more

New favourite commentator. Nick Riewoldt. Insightful, thoughtful. He's dominating this commentary team at the G and they're throwing to him regularly.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
