The coach,s future would be looking shakey. If he cannot get a win in the first three with this group then the question will be is he any good?

Yep, you are spot on. I dont want to waste the talent we have, as its the best list we have had in years.

I was hoping that was the case. If the ACB have any spine. There should be three people disqualified for life and a number of others for the remainder of 2018. However I will not hold my breath.

What a crock of sh1te this thread is.  We go down by a kick and the world is coming to an end.

Pathetic and should be shut down.  A bit of positivity thanks!

Imagine if we lost to Brisbane and then North.

With our track record, that is a surer bet than us beating them both!

Avoid the grand kids for fear of telling them that the Easter Bunny is a pretend story, put about by adults to keep them happy .................... just like the fairy stories about the resurgence of the mighty Demons.

If we lose to North AGAIN this year, I will seriously give up on life.

I am going overseas for work, and specifically organised my trip so that I fly out straight after the North game because I can't possibly miss us beating them finally!

If we lose, at least I can enjoy unlimited champagne in business class to drown my sorrows.

I just wonder if the coaching group at the Club read these posts, to internalise the sentiments of history since 1964 that have been endured by the MFC supporters. We even speak to one another in terms of imminent Domesday outcomes and cannot help being hesitant to dare a win or its likelihood, let alone a chance at finals footy.

We see the talent that we had in the past and have in the present but we do not see coaching making that significant difference to achieving success. We just get monotonous excuses, monologues and distanced communications - so I also wonder if these are what the players, in turn, receive. We just pick a team based upon 'form in the pre-season' and retire our players to the gym for recovery from the Grim Reaper each week. Is coaching exploiting the patient members of the Club? Time to deliver, folks!

Prepare for a long, tortuous season...

Really, we need to do more than just win.  Surely, if we can't put away last year's wooden spooners with a convincing win both on the scoreboard and on the field, we will be just making up the numbers should we make the final eight.

We let hubris get to us in the last game vs the Lions.  Instead of pressing our advantage and getting a big win we relaxed and nearly lost it.  No room for that on Saturday - this is a game where we need to make a statement.  Win convincingly!  Take no prisoners!

yell, shout, get abusive,  give up of the demons and footy altogether, announce to anyone who will listen that footy is "a stupid [censored] game anyway"

then 5 days later completely forget all that and get excited and enthusiastic of how well Melbourne will do against the Kangas

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
