We will have seriously under performed if they beat us to it.

we play the saints twice this year. Essential that we beat them both times if we want breathing space from other teams fighting for the 8.

Riewoldt has been our undoing and without him there is no reason to think the Saints are on the way up.

Bulldogs are the unknown re a spot in the 8. Eagles perhaps but unlikely.

If we are just hanging onto 8th place at the end of the year the likelihood is that the other teams vying for a spot will be Bulldogs, Hawks, Eagles and Saints.

The pre bye games are must wins... anything less than 7-4 and we can almost kiss the 8 goodbye.

I just don't rate the saints rebuild. IMO they get a free ride from the media as their rebuild should be nearly finished and you would expect them to rise up the ladder because of it.

Much like we did years ago with our failed rebuild under Bailey. I think it was Voss who said that we were the next big thing. That comment was based on expectations more than anything.

Billings looks like the only one who could become a star. Others look like role players who will help them rise but I don't think they will challenge without getting some more talent.

Coffield and Clark could be the exception as I have only seen their JLT so far.

While no source other than "insiders" at the club are attributed, the article gives some honest insights into the Jack Watts situation.

The pity is the article doesn't speak of the gulf of talent at the two clubs.  The poor old Saints have no mids other than Ross and Stevens, a couple of second rate rucks, one of whom is injured, and a backline of rejects from other clubs like Carlisle and Brown.

Still a good read regardless.

I don’t see St Kilda making it. I may be in the minority but I don’t rate their list.

Not sure, despite some poor performances, some of their young kids showed real promise in the latter half of season.

Mistake to underrate them.

I think we cannot underestimate ANYONE,  but on the upside not to overestimate the better sides, we can match anyone  but 4 quarters is needed not to go walkabout like against the saints in the 3rd qu of the practise game

Saints are very vanilla for me, they will be ok but can see them making the 8 for a few years but not really bothering anyone, they don’t have a star that can take them further, have we sent them a gift basket yet for passing on petracca, I feel like we should

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
