Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Jesus mate.....    Have you ever been on one of these camps?

The main aim is to break you down and then rebuild you to a point where you usefull for a cause ie battle

I have been on a few and all I got out of it was crook as a dog and praying for it to end.   I am no tougher than I was

It was a debarkle last year.   3 players reported in the first couple of games, not the leadership we wanted at that stage but were they tough?

I don't care what the media says about us......We will get done this year and we will win some gutsy ones so even is the competition.   When we do lose it will have nothing to do with a camp not held months ago.

Righto boss, I'll send a memo to Melbourne Storm and the Craig Bellamy, letting them know of your 1st hand impressions, & that they could well save their money for a cinema outing instead, for player welfare.

I'm sure they'll be grateful for the heads up.  These camps are not cheap you know.

By the way.  How is your favorite small from the 2012 National Draft going?

How about you ask Tyson, who dislocated his knee and had to continue walking/ running as there was no medical assistance in attendance

How about you ask Hibbert who had a heel soreness but had to continue walking/running as there was no medical assistance   Missed the first 4 games.

How about you ask Salem who had concussion but had to continue walking/running as there was no medical assistance and had concussion issues throught the year, but that camp toughen them up really well didn't it?

Out of all the headlines the AFL site could run with for the “Pick A Winner” segment going into R1, they conveniently chose the following.

Our preview is about 10 minutes in if any one really gives a ......!

Apologies if already posted elsewhere.

So why then do the Special forces put their men through these trials, & the SOGies as well. They are the elite of their Skills, they have to be, the standouts.

So we here are worried about a couple of little injuries, and some sleepless nights during the course?  really?

Or are we worried that some players may decide to leave the club, because its all too tough?

Do we want to be the Big Winners, or do we want to be the best AFL host team, as we've been for so many decades?

A lot of players got rich from us,. that would not have cut the September mustard, in most Grand Finals.

.

Our problem hasn't been to top up a talented list;  its been to get them playing to win flags. To remain disciplined to that cause. To not party during the week.

To be single minded with the ultimate prize in focus.

And because of this,  lacking the desire needed to develop our recruits into men, real stars, instead of spectacular players fond of the camera.

This is where our players have developed into, doing the spectacular, instead of doing the winning.

Our young recruits all want to do that spectacular thing, instead of busting their arzes all game, every game.

This is our collective failure.  And this is the bathwater experience, & this is what we continue to achieve.

'The spectacles' of the competition.

.

You are conveniently overlooking the main reason why a large group of players didn't want to do this particular camp.  You have completely missed the boat ....again...and again ....and again....and

So out of all the players, one player did something silly putting on his back-pack, and so you want to demonise all camps?  Do you want to stop all contact in preseason, for fear of concussions.

I think one of our players was concussed at training just a few weeks back?  Why haven't you said anything about that issue?

Organising a medic to be at hand, is not hard to do?

I don't think I'm missing the boat at all.

The thing is we as a club are still trying to breakaway from the old soft ways that have haunted us from within our culture, for decades.

Your the one who is only looking from the players perspective, and some worrier supporters are more worried about the players not wanting to work. And apparently it is the young players who didn't want to go.  and they didn't want to speak up as well.

What sort of players & future leaders are were growing, that do not feel strong enough to speak up about strongly held views, so they go outside the club to the players union to act for them in secrecy?

That's a bit weak-kneed, don't you think. It seems these players are just the ones who do need this type training.

See, my perspective is not for players softness, but for them to develop into strong competitors who can speak UP for themselves, without fear.

This action by the players is very much like Gysberts refusing to take part in a time trial.

Leadership comes in many forms Sergeant.  In this case the majority felt their views were strong enough they needed to intervene and act.  Regardless ...the boat has long and truly sailed on this particular boot which had the slipper put into it and is now sunk!

R.I.P.  and may it never surface again!

Looks like Adelaide Crows have their own camp issues and Taylor Walker, he of bad hair fame is chucking another wobbly.

The idea of these camps and getting the edge is beyond stupidity....

...I've got a novel idea, how about you recruit the right players put the right resources in place and then train them to play football.

Caro where are you when we need someone to write an article about another clubs botched camp. Does this mean the Crows are soft? Are they not united? It seems that the camp freaked a few of them out. I cannot see how this is supposed to improve their football skills. As always captain Walker is on the job texting with the same care he extended to lever last year. he recommends it to his family and friends

What, one player concusses himself, throwing on his backpack in a rush without thought ?   hits his head with hard object.  ruthless training regime.  2016/2017 preseason elite training camp.

=========================

Throw to 2017/2018 Maroochydore training camp.

FIRST-YEAR Melbourne defender Harrison Petty has suffered a concussion during match simulation at the Demons' training camp in Maroochydore.

I don't see a hell of a lot of difference, maybe except for the toughness of the Elite camp.

Maybe the players don't like to have their Ego's stripped back to bare honesty ?  just a query.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
