I had a quick dig in their Corporate Social Responsibility section and while it is mostly a bit light-on for details (e.g. about ethical investment options) they do have a community partner we can work with http://www.raise.org.au/

A youth mentoring organisation which would definitely have some overlap with the work of the Reach Foundation. There may be an opportunity to get some healthy collaboration going on that level, which would make the sponsorship a bit more 'intimate'.

Also noticed this while poking around the Zurich website. Zurich boosts market presence in Victoria and Tasmania

But setting all this material and practical stuff aside...

How good is it that we have a major sponsor that is definitely an arm of the illuminati?

Will we have our list thrown open to anyone who wants to get on it?

Jokes aside, it's a good time for a new sponsor to get on board. Have a feeling they may get pretty good exposure over the 3 years of the deal, and will associated with an exciting team to watch.

Smart move on their part.

The true value of this new sponsorship should not be under-estimated. PJ and his superb crew have managed to secure a partnership with a global financial organisation seeking to raise their presence in Australia and in the social responsibility profile.

Congratulations to all concerned who sourced and nurtured this deal to its successful fruition.

Anyone uncertain as to the calibre of people MFC now have working behind the scenes, should now be free of that uncertainty.

Bring on the footy for 2018!

Great get, still hate the way they just slap a rectangle on the jumper, surely their is better ways.

Agree Gorg.

Get rid of the blue rectangular background and superimpose it into the red 'V' section (the 'Zurich' white lettering will still be easy to read, going by the white NB lettering). The rest of 'Zurich' in the blue section of our jumper would remain a very similar colour to their rectangular logo. Having the white cirle and then blue Z in the red yolk would look very nice too.

Nope. It's just like how they started with the AHG sponsorship, that was a blue background too, but was eventually superimposed onto our jumper.

I'm guessing it will end up something like this.

I was merely being sarcastic.  I know what a photoshop job is, apparently many of our fans don't and are getting on social media and forums like this saying how bad the jumper looks. Talk about being daft. We should be thankful for the sponsorship

I asked someone I know at the club whether it would be a blue square and they confirmed that it would be. Really odd design if you ask me. They said the printed version looks worse than that twitter photo

Where's the poster who first gave us the intel on the possibility of a japanese car maker joining us as sponsor? Any follow up info from them would be appreciated.

Never hurts to have more sponsors on board!!!

I love this news for nothing more than it renews focus.

A rather messy parting with a long term servant, nasty accusations leveled at  one of our players of quite an unsavory nature and a PR kerfuffle concerning the boot camp had me thinking we were getting back to the 'heady days' of 2011 and it's Krusty's Krazy Klown Kollege level of incompetence.

While this doesn't cancel those hiccups out, it does show that the administration  side of the business is humming along well. When that happens, it gives the football side of things little place to hide if things go wrong.

Do you know what happened to the Luxury Japanese car brand? Or was that just a case of Japanese whispers?

Large, high profile international company sponsoring the MFC ....... who would have thunk it?

Brilliant work by PJ and his team!

Now it's time for the players and Footy Dept. to fulfill their part of the bargain.

I just whis they could [censored] off the New Balance 'NB' from just under the neck.  It makes the jumper look too busy and I bet that they are not contributing anything like what Zurich is.  I'm not about to loose any sleep over it, just anoying.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
