Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Kevin Rudd has since stated and made clear that Wayne Swann was incompetent. I'm not sure Labor can claim credit for avoiding recession following the GFC.

It will come as no surprise that I liked Costello. He left money in the coffers but did he do enough with the proceeds of the mining boom? Hard to say but give us Costello or even Keating as treasurer today and I'm pretty sure most would agree we would be heading in the right direction. I just can't see any current parlimentarian being a Costello or Keating.

yikes - i agree with you....

(I mourn the loss of real leaders. I disagreed with a lot of the Howard Policies but thought he was the consummate politician.  I was more a fan of Costello as he was much more closely aligned with my social leanings than Howard.). I liked Hawke ( not in his death throes) that he seemed to get the great proportion of the country onside with him - I found him inclusive. We are bereft of decent pollies these days)

You are aware that Turkey got in 3 hours during the peak of the Syrian crisis what Australia gets in one year?

You are also aware that one person per head in Manus costs 140k?

And that boat arrivals, the only source of Manus refugees, were found to have a 90% approval rate before ScoMo cut down avenues to appeal? (Compare that to air arrivals).

Also that asylum seekers have no right to work in Australia while on bridging visas? It’s rich to complain of ‘dole bludgers’ when they aren’t even able to get a job. And receive 75% of  Newstart (which was being argued to have been below the poverty line as far back as 2013)?

Or that this is a thread about the Marriage Equality Survey? (That is addressed to the Tory equivalent of Moe. Larry and Shemp).

Scratch that. This has been fairly emblematic of the knuckledragger conservative side of the debate. They never really wanted to talk about the crux of this issue anyway. It was always about changing the subject at such a pace and sprouting enough falsehoods or non sequiturs that it would be impossible to keep up. Once one load of irrelevant or incorrect steaming horse crap was debunked, 8 more were waiting.

Before you accuse me of changing the subject, pull the fat back from your pinko eyes, and have a look at the post I replied to.

It was one of your lefty clan who brought it up first.

And it's cowardly lefties who want to throw the countries legs open to whoever wants to pay their way around the world to sink their mitts into our hand out culture at the expense of the native population.

Wow, hysterical ranting isn't that much fun, is it?

I thought ssm was inevitable. I always thought that way. Wasn't at all surprised at the Yes vote. I voted no, but until we start getting the wacko ideas brought along for the ride, good luck to same sex couples. Don't forget the pre-nupt.

It only got that way because we started talking about Muslims, communism and we have now moved onto school halls via stimulus funds thanks to right wing point scoring bollocks.

While people do pay people smugglers, do you assume that those involved have money on tap? If that were the case, wouldn’t it make more sense to get on a plane after you have gotten over the border? Of course you will never answer these questions as you clearly have your reality packaged up for you.

I suggest you now toddle off over to an SBS or ABC news thread on Facebook. I’m sure that you will find fellow travelers on there who are venting the terrible things you are thinking but can’t say in public lest you be classed as one link down the evolutionary chain.

Again, I replied to a post from Deiter. I didn't change any subject.

Cool your heels, and understand that you lefties don't own the rights to every argument.

The moral grandstanding is embarrassing.

Now slink back to your protest, and resume your "hey hey ho ho" chants.

Billions are wasted on climate change and mad green schemes.

Billions are wasted on the NBN.

100s of millions wasted on school halls, pink batts and cash for clunkers.

Yet you're worried about 122 million that gave the people a vote to determine an outcome that fundamentally changes the fabric of society as we've known it ?  A vote that could have dire consequences to free speech ?

The Left rarely worry about money.  It's very funny and disingenuous when they choose to.

My concern here Pro was not so much the issue, as the fact that our elected representatives were  too pizz weak to make a decision without testing the electoral water by means of a very expensive poll.

Should we have a postal ballot on refugee policy? Renewable Energy? Tax reform? We're considering buying some new destroyers for the Navy - send out the letters!

Where does this postal polling nonsense stop?

The Victorian Parliament is currently engaged in a debate that certainly "fundamentally changes the fabric of society" as much as any. At least on that issue they are doing their job.

As to my being of the Left. Well I'd say I swing on that issue. Nowadays, I'd describe myself as mostly politically cynical.

I know reading isn’t your strong point.

My original post wasn’t aimed at you exclusively. I know you blokes have a persecution complex so I’m sure you will continue to act like it is.

My complaint is that the thread has been now hijacked by many who can’t bear they lost.

By the way, I’d rather be at a protest rather than being a couch potato, thinking I’m making a difference by belching right wing effluvia online in your bathrobe while eating hotpockets.

No couch here lefty.

I'm in the gym, after a productive day blasting the overburden at my coal mine.

Great industry coal.

Looking forward to Pauline building a new coal power plane nearby sometime soon. Even married gays need electricity.

If you don't want a reply, don't include me in your generalisations.

I thought that’s what you blokes specialize in (at least you did previously)? It’s good enough to cast stereotypes on the downtrodden but heaven forfend anyone say anything about you.

So you are more your ‘the guys who had their way with Ned Beatty in Deliverance’ style conservative than your Pepe the Frog/Japanese anime loving/socially inept alt right type? Bully for you.

Sad thing for you is that I don’t give a rats about your ‘witty’ insults. I am a left winger. While that is an insult in parts of the world where Porleen is held up as a paragon of virtue rather than the paint chip eating knucklehead she is, I welcome it.

Stereotypes on the downtrodden?

It's an interesting world isn't it. I'm heading to the Philippines next April, to (among other things involving family) perform volunteer work providing free medical supplies to the downtrodden in my old home town. It's one of the things I enjoy doing. Will post some picks for you.

It's easy for many of us to label/judge others on the site based on rantings. The reality is often different. Being a right winger doesnt prevent you from looking out for your fellow man totally.

That’s very commendable of you.

In that vein, I have taught asylum applicants myself as a volunteer, and would do more work here in Japan. However, the local support organization seems to be a bit insular and seems to be running a bit of a certain agenda.

While I don’t profess to be the world’s greatest contributor to the cause, it does get me very fired up when people say things about asylum seekers that are verging on plain defamatory. Especially, when I know to an extent what the real situation is on the ground.

So yes, I definitely agree with you. Ranting on the internet often does do injustice to the people who are it’s intended targets when we sometimes don’t know who they are.

With that, and hopefully we can dial down the aggression on both our sides, I hope we can now get back to the thread topic. :)

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
