Wow way to slag off your own players, ever heard of being a "supporter"

Didn't you read the rules Gonz ? For some It's ok to bag the crap out of every other Melbourne player or coach unless his name is Jack Watts.

I'd also like to say that although I have come across as very "anti-Watts" to some on here, if things turned out that no suitable trade could be agreed on and he ended up staying on the list next year I wouldn't be upset.

Seems an extremely unlikely occurrence given whats in the public domain however stranger things have happened.

You have not come across that way Gonzo. I feel the same way as you, if we can't get a decent trade for Watts i'm good with keeping him but some of the uninformed vitriol aimed at Goodwin is bordering on the ridiculous.

You are either showing your age or your emotional maturity - no player has copped more than Jack Watts on this board or with MFC fans.

surely not the pies?

interesting

seems like he doesn't want to get out of his comfort zone and that living in Melbourne is a priority over footballing opportunity.

Could Wattsy be on the outer, and  Lever coming in, be part of a move to have T Mac playing forward permanently next year? I think there was talk of us acquiring another experienced mid - would that mean Petracca playing up forward more too?

If that's the idea, and then I think we should trade Watts for sure. Sounds like he needs a fresh start to reinvent himself (who knows - he could get home sick and come back in a few years? ), and T Mac seemed to relish playing forward (so much so that when he went back again he didn't play like he normally would - maybe he needs to be reinvented as well and going forward is his tonic?). T Mac and Petracca floating in our forward line would be dangerous.

Firstly, he'll have intel from his manager, or directly himself that Victorian clubs are interested... secondly I feel as though your statement about him not wanting to get out his comfort zone is not warranted - surely the bloke is allowed to have priorities when it comes to location around family/friends ongoing business post football - just like many other footballers, or anyone else in middle class australia who has the fortune to pick and choose. God...I don't want to work in Karatha even though there are options there...

What a surprise. That watts just enjoys the lifestyle and not the pursuit of achieving the ultimate.

I'm starting to lean against bust and wouldn't be surprised if he decides to stay.

Correct. My mistake. I did mean player

Sorry,

I was just noting that while Goodwin was a much decorated player his leadership skills are untested.

Actually, he has a very similar career path to Buckley:  A driven, much decorated player, had a few years as Ass coach, understudy to Premiership coach.  Inherited a talented team as Senior coach.

Hopefully, that is where the comparison ends and we have that elusive success.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
