Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Don't know where else to put this, but just heard news of another delisting (can't say who until the official announcement)

Not sure how many years they were signed up for, but my guess would be Ben Kennedy or Pat McKenna. Unless Garland has been paid out for his final year of his contract.

Kennedy had a pretty decent year in the magoos and still couldn't crack a single game.  I won't be surprised if it's him that gets the chop.

Exactly. Had his cards marked all year because he's too slow for a small forward role, and is an average kick.

Yep.  He either didn't work hard enough over the pre-season or Goodwin never rated him at all and planned to move him on at the end of the season.

Kudos to him during the season for always playing well, but as you say, he lacked some key attributes to hold down a spot in the AFL side.

Can't think of anyone else aside from Ben Kennedy.

EDIT: Bye Benny! I really thought there was a spot for him in the team but it seems that Goodwin was never really a fan.

It always went against my better judgement, but I always thought there might be something there with Kennedy.  No idea what that was, but it quickly became apparent that he was in no man's land - too slow to be a half forward, not good enough to be a midfielder.  Therefore he was never going to find a spot in our side.

Cast aside twice now, doubt he gets another look in.  All the best, Ben.

Interesting comment about not questioning his effort in the second half of the season, which obviously raises the question about the first half of the season. He was not a good enough footballer to get by on any less than 100% commitment.

Anyway, good luck for the future BK.

Ben Kennedy is the fifth player to be delisted by the club in 2017. He joins Jack Trengove, Jake Spencer, Mitch White and Liam Hulett as other recent players to depart the club.

The big surprise to me is that we haven't as yet delisted one or both of King and Filipovic.

Richmond showed us there's room for only one genuine ruckman and we already have a ready-made back-up in Pedo and two others - T-Mac and Weid - who could play there if required.

All are infinitely better than anything King has shown to date and Flipper did not endear me as a project player pre-season before injury.

If the club rates one of them long-term, fine keep one. But there's no no excuse to have two back-up dinosaurs on a list that already has the best dinosaur ruckman in the game.

I like Tommy Mc as a back up ruck. I don't mind the idea of Weid in that role especially if mobility becomes more important but I'm not sure it will to that extent. Still think you'll need 200cm guys in the ruck.

So if we don't add a Spencer replacement we may as well keep both of these guys to see which one (if either) makes it. If we do add another then I might cut one of them.

Also I wouldn't rush. Both of them need to build their bodies to be good VFL players yet alone AFL players. Give them September and October and give them a strength and fitness test to see which one has made progress.  If they are getting fitter and stronger in a 6 week training block then keep both because the ruck is still mainly a test of determination and character more than skills!

This is either shaping up to be the biggest cleanout in the Club's history or one of the shortest coaching stints.....

I'm thinking, it's got to be almost top 4....2018

Agree though Filopovic is only a rookie. Skinny. Raw. No football brain.  Doubt he will be a player.

WHY do you think that? Is there some that you know about him?

Seen Filopovic play in under 18s. Very surprised he was a rookie. Did not show enough footy smarts. He is athletic and was okay at hit outs and centre square leap. But lacked around the ground smarts and no overhead contested marking.  Will need plenty of time or a revelatory experience.

Not a delisting but I've noticed Weidemen like a couple of Collingwood posts on Instagram the last few days.. One of Daicos & Brown celebrating the win on Saturday (fair enough if not against us & the circumstances) & now one of Bucks resigning... Seems a bit odd

Weideman was overlooked as a father/son by Collingwood. His uncle Murray played for Collingwood and was a champion at the Magpies.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
