Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

THANK YOU ADELAIDE FC

Thanks for your insipid performance on Sunday allowing the Weagles to pinch our spot in the top 8 by a measley .5%.You could have made it just a little less obvious that you were not really trying. 'Resting' two stars was indicative of your intentions. May you go out in straight sets in finals. Also hope Weagles get thrashed in elimination final. Ah!!  that feels better getting that off my chest. i wonder how many Demon fans would concur with my rantings?

Adelaide did us a favour in a way. It would not have benefited the club to limp into finals and get belted by Port. Yes, I want to see the club play in September again as badly as anyone but at the very least the nature of the end of season collapse may force the footy department to reassess and make tough calls rather than persist with minor tweaks after achieving the club's goal of playing finals.

And FWIW I think WC may end up ruing finals, as this is a crack papering exercise for them.

To be honest, I don't even care. I just feel broken at the moment. I keep telling myself that we would've been thrashed by port adelaide in the first week anyway. Even if we were, it feels like I've been robbed of the opportunity to lose in the first week.

Life goes on, this will not be the be all and end all. But, at the moment, I'm not sure I can watch a football game for a while.

We're now in the full-on pro era Bobby so the way Adelaide approached and played out their game today was foreseen by many.  It's just the way it is these days and they'll be primed for their home final against GWS in 2 weeks.

I reckon they'll win easily ... GWS have plenty of talent but they are not a heart & soul footy club.

I dont know about getting thrashed by Port. Just over 4 weeks ago we had a comfortable 4 goal win over them at the G. We don't play too badly on the Adelaide Oval as well. We'll never know will we?

Yeah fair call. I was just going on the form we've shown in the last couple of weeks vs the form they've showed. I feel like that Port game we got the jump on them in first quarter and they just went into their shells. It felt like they were the better team after. Had they kicked a couple of their missed set shots it would've been a different story. But like you said, we'll never know...

Oh, we'll know if West Coast, of all teams, smash them in a fortnight.

We'll know.

Basically this. It isn't Collingwood's fault, nor Adelaide's, nor West Coast's that we ended up here.

This entire outcome rests squarely at the feet of two groups: the MFC coaches and the MFC players who threw the season in the bin. Direct your angst and frustration at them.

It's not the responsibility of other clubs to clean up a mess of our own creation.

Spot on.....

Questions need to be asked of our leadership group  & a review to identify the cause if such a disastrous capitulation!

Our teams form over the past few months has been pretty average. We coukdnt beat the pies, end of story.

We peaked against the odds in the midst of a heap of injuries. But when the guys came back we never found the spark.

Hate the Eagles but credit where its due - they ran GWS close last week and beat the top side the week after. Sure they didnt have the best year but they won the game when it mattered.

Yes our fault for not showing up, but we need to stop pretending we're premiers in waiting if it werent for us choking. Other teams can show up and play finals level footy like the Pies did yesterday. The Hawks against us too when they had a mid year hot streak. So its not totally our fault for being in this position, other teams share the blame for beating us fair and square, and for professionally resting to get pick 10 for Lever :)

Agree. I have never felt so let down by the club in all my 25 years of being a member. PJ talks a lot about regaining the trust of the MFC faithful, well PJ you just lot an absolute shitload of it with that pitiful performance against the filth.

I feel let down by the entire club, from the top down (PJ included). The football department along with the playing group head that list. I just feel betrayed. A massive indictment by all players' and coaches alike. We've all been let down by the club many times before, but this one burns the most and cuts the deepest.

I don't know what the MFC stands for anymore, but it is certainly not one that stands by its long suffering members. It once stood for something i was proud to be a part of, something that could never be taken away. Ironically, they are the ones who have stripped it from me. You put up a video thanking all those who signed up, then serve up that pathetic effort on Saturday. This club simply does not get it and i fear they never will.

If pain, frustration and anger are the responses this club wished for me to elicit.............mission accomplished.

Thank you for turning my once unwavering enthusiasm into perpetual heartache. Into something i now equally love and loathe, but you are starting to lose the war. I have given 25 years of my heart and soul (and will regrettably continue to do so - i'm too far in to escape this black hole) and for the most part, all i have received is humiliation and a virtual slap in the face.

I have foolishly committed 25 years of my life (many of you have given way more) to this club and i have still nothing to show for it. Stupid me.

Yes, lets blame another club for doing what is best for their upcoming finals...

This is probably the most baffling post I've read in a while.

If we were I  the same boat I woyld hope we would insure those with niggling injuries would be rested.

Who you should be blaming is the MFC players who lost to norf twice... TWICE! lost to freo after being up 32pts. Who couldnt lay a tackle vs the filth and mainly the leadership group who once again stank it up and allowed us to get mad scored against and did nothing!

Your anger is so misplaced it's bloody ludicrous.

I have a similar feeling today to the one I had in 87. That after the siren loss in a prelim took me quite a few weeks to be feeling myself again. Then as now, I had to stand back and appreciate actually how far the team had actually come. My hope is that, similar to 87 where the players went into the off season hurting and focused, that they use the pain to step everything up a notch and bring in a period of sustained success.

If this doesn't burn nothing will.

No way can you say that Adelaide denied us a rightful finals spot - it was in our own hands both last week and on Saturday and basically we choked big time.

Being unable to grasp the opportunity we were given meant that we did not deserve a finals place, and are clearly not nearly ready to determine our own destiny.

Notice that every team that need to win in Round 23, did win.... except Melbourne, the perennial laughingstock of the AFL.

Port needed a huge win to give them best chance of top 4 - DONE

Sydney needed a huge win to give them best chance of top 4 - DONE

Richmond needed to win to stay top 4 -DONE

Geelong needed to win at home to finish 2nd and a home final - DONE

West Coast needed to win by 20+ to play finals - DONE

Melbourne needed to beat lowly Collingwood to play their first finals in 11 years - FAIL

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
