Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Pathetic and churlish response. If I was an investor in a company that was responsible for such a performance I would expect, and it would be a given, that the company responded to an appalling result.

We’re not investors, we’re clients.

We are more like investors:  Vote in the Board, Go to AGM's, Buy shares (sort of) via memberships; Get Financial Statements and have a vested interest in their fortunes.

Clients buy a service once or more and then walk away.

The club accounts itself to the stakeholders. We and sponsors are these.

As LH suggests as members we vote. This is as a direct result of investing into the club.

When entities fail to meet forecasts etc they are often brought before their shareholders for an extraordinary report.

This would correlate with the club makingvan announcement to its members ( from where im sitting )

Good point about the sponsors. I imagine the sponsors would have been excited to finally see melbourne make finals. This, after all, is a massive potential for exposure and one of the reasons why a sponsor invests in an up and coming team. The extra few weeks of exposure with only 8 clubs left to exploit it is gold.

If the club has treated the sponsors with the same disdain as supporters then this bodes very poorly. Now I have no clue about how they have treated sponsors this year but I know form first hand experience in the Neeld/Gardner years that we were woeful. The club was happy to take the money but the sponsors were almost unanimously peeved at the way the club treated them. The Mission Foods debacle was instructive. We have improved emormously since this period (from a very low base) and I would hope that the sponsors have had the club engage with them about the finish to the year.

But the way they have treated supporters has me fearing they haven't done the right thing.

Big Max put the following caption up a few hours ago on a new sports app called 20four, along with a heartfelt video of how he crook in the guts he has felt since the game....check it out it is a great behind the scenes look into athletes of many sports lives.

"2 weeks hiatus from social media, I`m back! Stay tuned for 11 weeks of determination to get back for a strong 2018. We all feel as [censored] as you do dees fans, lets bottle that and get going into 2018"

Goodwin kept on saying & reference  to the correct behaviours & haven't achieved anything until round 23.....

If thats not saying to his players don't get ahead of yourselves, i don't know what is...

Im sure he will talk about it again at the B&F....

It didn't work did it. He failed at his job of getting them ready for games. 11 times we lost the first quarters and we only kicked 5 goals once in an opening stanza....

I'm stunned we haven't heard from Goodwin. We would have 2-3 statements from him all season (training press conference, end of week/selection press conference, Simon's selection and the post game) and since one of the most disappointing and inexcusable efforts of the year we've had one brief (compare his previous efforts with this presser, much shorter) and pretty flat effort.

I understand that he probably had to rush into exit interviews early last week, but it's been almost a fortnight. If ever he needed to put something on the club website the time is now (or was last week). I honestly believe he is furious and shell shocked and so are we all but the club should be getting on the front foot and not letting already disillusioned supporters drift away. The proof will be in the playing next year but in the short term they should be at least trying to keep the members engaged. It's kind of stunning that nothing has been said, almost worrying.

Tbh if we'd heard from goodwin we'd just be saying how weve heard it all before and we'll believe it when we see it....

I just want to see how badly it burns in r23 next year.

Sure, but it's PR 101. It's not always about what actually matters, sometimes it's about how it looks.

Goodwin talked the talk all season, "it's not where we are now, it's where we are at the end of round 23" "we haven't achieved anything yet" etc.

He has faced very limited adversity in his first year, he's largely been in a honeymoon period, sure we stuffed up a few games and individual players copped some scutiny but largely Simon has relied upon performance and the boys backing up the next week and a lot of the time they have.

However, this is the first time he failed this year and doesn't have another weeks football to make amends. In fact by using his "where we are after round 23" mantra he has put more scrutiny on what just happened and rather than facing the music, even if it's the same old empty platitudes, He's nowhere to be seen.

It looks bad, I'm sure he had good reasons and I personally like him and think we're heading in the right direction, but to some justifiably [censored] off supporters it just looks really bad. Amateur or petulant even and I'm shocked the club hasn't realised this.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
