Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I would players and coaches to apologise to supporters!

Often when clubs put in shocking performances they apologise to their fans and supporters.  Has anyone heard an apology from our players/coaches in recent years?

As someone said in another thread, we buy memberships, merchandising, go to games stick with the club thru thick and thin and endure the humiliation directed at us.

Well its time they new we existed and stop taking us for granted.

It would be nice if they took responsibility but does anyone at the club really give a toss how we're feeling? They're looking forward to a hard earned mad money!

Why, seriously, would any worthwhile free agent want to come to this soft teaser of a club.

There is just no soul, no leadership and definitely no pride, or commitment to the long suffering supporters.

Get stuffed.

Couldn't agree more, Dappa.

I think more will come to realise this in the coming few months when the anger fades a little.  The fact we were in a position to play finals, when you consider we had Hogan and Gawn out for long periods, had Jones and Viney also miss extensive time, had to throw around players in different positions to fill the gaps and also deal with (very silly) suspensions from others, means we had done very, very well to be in the positions we were in.

Doesn't excuse the fact that we should have made it from where we were, but the future still bodes very well.  You'll get smashed for your post, but it doesn't make it any less relevant.

Here's another interesting metric for you wise...

My brother is inconsolable today. He says we're improving too slowly. I tried to explain that it's all relative. You can only compare to the teams in the league... Noone that was at our level at round 1 is now "better" than us. And noone who was below us has gone past us... Port have been developing nicely for a few years with their core. GWS for longer than that. Richmond's mature players are all 5+ years in. Swans you could argue have jumped past us, but I see their usual superstars doing the heavy lifting. No Parker, Kennedy and Buddy and they're just another team. The dons is the only one that you might say went past us. They had a finals squad before the bans though, and have been given plenty of picks. Also, if they had half our injuries, we would have smoked them easily.

We're about where we should be. A final would have been nice learning... but next year we're in or there'll be hell to pay.

All good! Just thought the way I wrote that was confusing.

Its gonna be bloody hard to see any sun from here. Gonna take one hell of a positive spin artist to snap me out of this that's for sure

Pathetic weak efforts as always.

Each time we need to and should win we stuff it up completely.

We need to look at all areas. Too often we keep on keeping on.

Goody needs to realisr that vince and Salem are not defenders.

Tmac either plays forward or they hammer him until he can kick a football.

Oliver must learn to handball a lot less.

Tyson needs to improve his kicking.

Viney should be made sole captain and the leadership group re vamped.

Hogan needs to show intensity more often and lead for the ball more often.

And our game plan needs tp whole off 25% of our handballs.

That's a start.

I'm inclined to agree on the Viney statement. Probably the only one that has punched holes in his walls tonight.

Shudder to think what the vibe is like in the Viney household tonight. I imagine Todd and Jack watched together.

Just yesterday he was fielding questions on 3AW about whether he'll play in the first final. [censored], he must be livid right now.

Pity Tom that you don't take as much pride in your club and give as much care to your supporters that you do to your car.

I'm not worried at all. Not even a little bit. I was shattered after the second Roos loss cos that was the proof we're on a hiding to nothing this year. I would have preferred to get a final into the kids, but that's negligible.

The big picture here is the core list. We need a KP defender in the off season, and we're getting one. Or at least doing everything we can to get one. Aside from that, the core is well and truly there. Our only pressing concerns in coming years will be replacing Vince, Jones and Jordie who will all age out. Aside from that we can only improve.

It'll fall on deaf ears, but we can't possibly go backwards next year. We were smashed by injury all year. And we were never going to win one in 2017 anyway, so this sad time on demonland would have come at some point in the next few weeks anyway.

All's well folks. We/re looking good.

The North loss was undoubtedly the key message. Once we lost that i just knew the season was shot.

I like to think it's a development phase and we'll break out of it, but it was the way we lost to North, GWS and Collingwood that has me worried, combined with the Brisbane performance. It was almost too familiar to matches in the later Bailey years. That's what worries me.

I hate to say it, but our "rebuild" still involves kicking out perennial losers. I'm not naming names because I've said them enough on here. We are still in flux and will stay in neutral until we make big decisions on club favourites.

Well that's actually a good question. Why should anyone want to come to this club? What is actually setting us apart? Yeah we've got upside and a couple of good youngsters. Everyone does!

They need to ask themself, what is the appeal to come over instead of teams around us like Collingwood, St Kilda, Essendon, whoever.

F*** it

This hurts. More than any other year of watching other teams in the finals this hurts. I don't think I'll be able to bring myself to watch any of it.

The idea that Essendrug are in there, West Coast who are the biggest flat track bullies, that had we actually beaten the bottom team properly when we were 32pts up, that had we actually done the job when everything was on the line this week, we could/should be in there instead.

We've improved, but we're still a laughing stock.

Failed Season. Kick 3 pts more and allow 1 less goal we play finals. that simple.

3 tackles in the first 20 mins and 7 marks in Coll's fwd 50 in the first qtr broke our season.

The players that represented the team yesterday have failed the club, themselves and the supporters. We need to get rid of players that continually fail to stand up when counted.

I barrack for the club. Not the players. Fork em. The players will come and go but I will always barrack for our club.

It's time to move on from the Jones and Watts era. They need to go.

We certainly made it very hard for ourselves.

Is it totally down to leadership?  Did Goodwin not have a Plan B outside of moving players around, so when the conditions/momentum changed we didn't have something else to fall back on?  Are we not preparing in the right manner?

So many questions, and hopefully we can find a few answers over the summer.  We do need to be ruthless without going over the top in the trade period, and Goodwin needs to sit down and reassess the game plan, as clubs had it covered in the second half of the year.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
