Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I have stayed away from the keyboard after getting home - concentrating on the red...

I remember Watts lamenting "where are our leaders" in an after game presser some time ago, and I got to thinking: "who has the talent + will to get us over the line

Viney - all the will, and enough talent
Trac - all the talent, and getting the will
Hogan - see Trac
Oliver - see Hogan
Gus - not yet
Jones - nope
Watts - never
Hunt - talent + cares, but limited opportunity
ANB - cares, works hard, but never going to get us over the line
TMac - both, once
OMac - please... I'm trying to be serious
HIbberd - yep, with others up the field
Max - once upon a time
Lewis - in years gone by

And I compare this list (incomplete) to the good teams -  and it's no wonder we don't win. Only rarely can I remember someone from this team getting us over the line - Viney, Tmac once, Max once or twice.

We're not good enough, and the leadership today was beyond bad.

Can someone tell me why the moronic pies supporters kept booing watts? I noticed it more in the 2nd half. Is it because of him kicking the winning goal in queens birthday or does it stem back to when he made his debut and they think he complained or sooked a bit about the treatment he copped?

I think the QB match ended up with Watts in front of the Coll. cheer squad - he gave them a bit, I seem to remember

Where was the team that smashed Port and St Kilda in recent weeks? On vacation?

Next year it is no longer acceptable to just get over the line against teams we should be smashing. We should have smashed Collingwood today. We got beaten because our guys aren't willing to do more than the bare minimum.

Adelaide are basically tanking tomorrow. Season over for us.

We played exactly as we did against StKilda. We were [censored] that game. Saint were just worse so we got away with it. Some people just chose to overlook it because we got away with the win. The same would have happened today if we snuck home.

Lame game plan that has been figured out just as the Bulldogs was and can stick a tackle which breaks down the whole zone.

We have been rubbish since half time in the Port game.

A performance like that will see us get played off the park by 10 goals if we were lucky enough to make it.

Freo, Hawthorn, North, to a lesser extent GWS and now today. These games all had a pattern about them. The other side gets the jump on us 4 or 5 goals up at qtr time, we end up having to kick, punch, scrap, scrounge and claw to get back into it. We end up chasing the game, make a little in-roads and lose by somewhere between 1 to 3 kicks essentially flattering ourselves against some bottom 8 quality opposition. Yes teams drop games, I get that. But when the pattern emerges this many times?

Personally I think the turning point was the Swans game. We haven't looked anywhere near our best ever since the Bugg incident and the culmination of 3 consecutive 6-day breaks. It basically broke us.

No, we were definitely good against Port in the opening half. The Swans game though was a massive drop from the previous weeks.

But there's little denying we played our best footy pre-Swans. Obviously the Adelaide match was the best we played all year, but we've really just been limping to the finish line ever since Sydney smashed us.

This kid should be given license to do as he pleases, there were multiple times today where he won the ball at half back, took off, had a paddock in front of him and decided to kick after 5 metres to where he thought someone should be.

I just wonder if the game is too technical these days with all the meetings and IPads.

Is the game plan always in the back of players minds which restricts them from their instincts?

It's now nearly 11pm, and I just want to say I am now at peace with my self.

After more than 50 years following this club I have decided it's not worth the trouble I put my family thru, rearranging activities for my selfish madness following the MFC.Good bye.

Yes, the first Q effort (lol) was appalling but are we really good enough.

As some have mentioned, and I agree, we are a middle of the road side and as such we need everything to go our way to win big games. In this competition no one has the luxury of coasting.

A few observations...

TMac; he's going to make mistakes but seriously, taking that kick out was not a mistake. It was ridiculous, and probably against team rules. There is no way Tommy Mac is a designated to take kick outs...taking this kind of action on is one of the things that put Dunn on the outer with the FD. Tom owes big time, needs to cut the arrogance and play within his limitations or go play somewhere else.

Big Max; needs to get off media street and concentrate on his game. At the moment he is in danger of being Jamar 2, one AA and drift off into obscurity. He's got ahead of himself.

Oliver; as I said the other week he is our Selwood/Danger needs some help (got a little from Trac today). Other teams know if they stop Oliver they are on the way against us. More time in the middle for Trac will help.

Has to learn how to get back off the mark quickly when he has to take his kick...his first option is to HB but when he gets forced to kick he takes to long. Another sad thing today, with our problems in defence and contested marking Clarry thought he had to push back into some marking contests he shouldn't have. He took one ripper though and figured he needed to keep at it as his defenders were letting him down.

Salem; does some great things, a lot of skill but...I don't know where he fits, sometimes he looks a million miles behind it. Gets caught out way too often and doesn't seem to read the play well. Stop watching soccer kid and start analysing the game that's paying for your lifestyle...be a pro.

Hunt; the faster he runs, the less his vision & awareness. Really needs to pull that together, he did drop the eyes and hit up some targets today but more often than not runs himself or a teammate into trouble.

Lewis; was ok but really should be his last year. Won't make another 2.

Vince; probably his last year though I'm not as down on him as some are, wasn't our worst.

Tyson; gone backwards the last 2 years.

Pedo; if he's getting a regular game next year we are heading nowhere. Has done a great job but is depth. Weideman must step up, if he can't next year than he's a bust.

On marking and defence, anyone who doesn't think we need Lever hasn't got a clue...

Forget holding on to the players that you love kids, we still need to turn this list over and there are very few safe.

The midfield is Oliver, Trac and Viney. Braysh and some others need to step up, or we need to trade in. Jonesy needs to be used a pinch hitter not the main man anymore.

It's been a long season and our style of play depends on high pressure and intensity. The longer the season has gone on the harder it's been to keep this up. Gawn being out of form is not helping, he's possibly playing injured. I'm not making excuses, just observing that we haven't been the team we were when we were firing at the start of the year and I think that's because we are cooked physically.

The ball is transitioning into our defence way to easily and that's due to the lack of pressure up the ground. I'm not a fan of Oscar or Tmac generally but anyone would struggle to cope with the way the ball is coming into our backline at the moment.

If we make finals hopefully we will freshen up. We can only hope to make it now.

The team's form is way off. I don't know what's happened. I still feel though Collingwood were weak opposition and for us to come out with that first quarter ... I felt like it was 2013.

100% agree - opposition are putting a hard tag on him (second season, 20 years old!), and I only saw Trac giving him a chop out. Jones / Tyson / Hannan need to sacrifice their game and look after this bloke a bit.

No Pendlebury, Wells, Reid... it had all the stench of the GWS loss. Had a sinking feeling in my stomach all week and it's rarely proven wrong.

As I get close to pulling the plug on a day full of hope, I remember a kid from school days who had a never say die attitude to life.  He went on to play for the The mighty demons and never ever gave up.  His name Robbie Flower.

Today the MFC again filled its supporters with hope for the millionth time, and again this club failed the test and crawled to the line with a whimper.  There is something wrong with this club, they never seem to get past junior grade exams.  There is a rot of mental blockage and toughness worse than most clubs in the past 20 years.  They just cannot pass their senior exams.

The club are the worst repeat offenders for failing the test at the final hurdle.

we will see the same nonsense platitudes from the usual suspects at the club.  It means nothing anymore.  Today whatever hope existed is gone..the players had their chance and they blew it up in our collective faces.

Beyond sad because it's so, so true. Succinctly put. I shudder to think what will happen to us the next time we even make a Grand Final (god knows how many decades we'll be waiting). Just another soul-crushing repeat of 2000?

We are almost there, we have the best CEO (Peter jackson) in the league, he will not let this continue, we will again turn players over in the off season, our VFL side is humming along,

we are not far off being a power house in the AFL, :D

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
