Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

My grandmas toaster told me that Kent for balic could work out for everyone. I tend to agree. Kent has seen others leapfrog him, and balic is a kid trying to get back to his home state, never really settled over there.

I've always liked toast and Kent for Balic sounds like a good trade to me.

Just had a chat with Dr.Turf about the whole Watts trade at work. Said he spoke to Rocket Eade and there are big rumblings about Hogan involved in a 4 way trade with Freo/Carlton/Adelaide/Melbourne. In summary, Hogan to Freo Lever to Dees.

He said he hopes not, but that's what he heard.

Absolute rubbish that we would entertain trading Hogan to acquire Lever! ?

Completely agree. Turfy was gobsmacked when he was telling me. He wasn't confident, but that's what he heard. Just thought I'd pass on the info of the chat I had with him]

It would be staggering without doubt.
Do you not think Dr Turf ( and brother ) just might have some handy lines of info ?

I am sure that there are a few around who have 'handy lines of information' but we are talking about Lever here not Sloane! Hogan for Lever is paying way 'overs' and not even Prendergast would have contemplated such a trade! ?

I dont see it as likely either if for the Lever/Hogan aspect. That is if thats all there really is to it.

Its always been my concern that Hogan is EXACTLY what Lyon needs at Freo...and right now

Freo have pick 5.  Ive not the time right now to sit and work on a convoluted  trade-around but Im not dismissing the idea out of hand. Not until 2.00pm on Thursday the19th

I'm starting to get concerned with the amount of Hogan to Freo rumours that keep surfacing. Where there is smoke there is fire. Many website and papers coming out this rumour from a similar angle.

They're mostly coming out of the Freo camp. There may be some truth it to but I dont think we'd be looking to offload Watts if Hogan was on the way out.

Regardless, while I'm admittedly in the "Trade Watts" camp, if there's any inkling that Hogan won't stay long term, it would be a mistake to offload Watts unless there is talent coming directly into the forward from his trade. There's no doubt that trading Watts stands as a huge risk.

If Hogan did want to go I'd be looking to use the picks we get for him to get Lynch from GC.

I highly doubt he's leaving though.

Agreed. We already paid 2 x first rounders for Hogan and since then he's proven himself at this level. If we were gonna lose him then that deal would be one I could well and truly live with.

Maybe l misread it. However the day comes that Jack does leave, the Watts critics will regret it and the simple minded ones that bag him constantly won't know what to do with themselves.

The critics wont regret anything...

I hope and think if he is traded to another side he will prepare and play to the level as expected.

His best football is elsewhere and not at the MFC. No one loses out of this trade. Win MFC-Win Jack.

If Jack has a tremendous 2018 at another club. It does'nt mean he would have had a tremedous season at the MFC.

I think talk about Hogan being traded is BS...

But if it was on the cards. The Dees would already have had conversation with a key forward recruit.

Tom Lynch would be the man...

This thread is about rumuors so if Hogan was to go. I would think this is a fair scenario;

Fremantle IN- Hogan

Melbourne IN- Lynch

Gold Coast IN- Pick 5, Freo first round 2018

Don't forget who owns the Suns. Lynch is a current Captain and contracted for at least another season.

The AFL's investment is looking desperate at the moment. A new coach will come in and Gil will make sure this doesn't happen.

I can't possibly imagine any trade that would compensate for Hogan going. As a very gifted key forward, a very very rare commodity he's worth a hell of a lot more than an intercept backman no matter how good Lever is.

The draft would be no good to us and I can't think of a player who would fill the hole. Can't see why the Club would offload JW in these circumstances.

The place is gone to hell if this happens. Will put us back years structurally. No forward again.

Wonder if this is going on in the background whether they would consider Stringer. Would he be an upgrade on JW? I'd rather keep JW but I certainly wouldn't rather get rid of JW and have no one.

I choose to think it's all crap until the trades are finalised.

Jeffy says hello.

Not technically a "key" forward. He's someone you use to build around key forwards. A good small forward is useless if you don't have a dedicated target nearby.

Can we all Agree that a Hogan trade would need to be at min 2 first round draft picks , and in this supposedly shallow draft pool  picks 1-10 standouts. I dont see anybody on the Freo list that they could trade out to gain the required 2nd draft pick.

Gil has no say in Tom Lynch's career. If he wants to move clubs he will. If GC Suns want something for him they will trade while he is under contract. The ball is in Lynch's court here... If the Suns hold him to serve his contract. Good luck too them being compensated when he walks. Gil will have to give them priority draft picks.

Lever wont be part of any trade for Hogan.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
