Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Yes, I believe so.

A friend of mine runs a dog walking business in the Richmond, Toorak, South Yarra area. One of her clients is his mother. She met Jesse at his mother's house when he was recovering from his cancer-related surgery.

I don't want us to lose Jesse. I think he will be a top player for us as we get ourselves into gear.

He seems to me the type of person who cares about whether he lets you down, or not, so will always give his all.

The gestures are nothing more than frustration on his part, most likely feels like he has under performed?

That's a good deal, we get the worst player.

Aaron Hall is definitely not the worst player out of that trio, and he'd be a good get for us. Exactly what we need - quick, finds plenty of the ball and is damaging on the scoreboard. Last year he averaged 530m gained per game and 28 disposals - that's huge. This year he averaged 495m per game.

I'd love to see Hall at the Dees.

Despite all the rhetoric , despite all the assurances, despite all the story so far it truly wouldn't surprise me one iota if Hogan is not at Melbourne next year.

It's absolutely nothing more that suspicion but Jesse has always had that air of a 'visitor' at Melbourne. Happy to be wrong but it would make a lot of sense should he go home.

He's never really settled into our lineup ( for a truckload of reasons ) and it just seems to this seasoned old spectator that he might never.

We've played a lot of footy without him. Won games without him.

I know my thoughts will not sit well with the majority but we might not ever see that potential consistently realised in a red and blue jumper.

Going to be a very interesting circus week.

It makes me wonder why we bother to draft WA/SA players at all, or at the very least, to limit it to low draft picks. I stand to be corrected on that though with past track record. Scott Thompson the most notable off the top of the head player loss. I recall my friend told me excitedly about a key forward named Hogan that would dominate in the future being drafted (having lost touch with the goings on at the dees for 2 or so years)  - in response, i asked him: Where's he from? "WA" - My first reaction was "Oh, ok" and then apathetically: "So when will he go back?"

There was a grab last night on the news, where Stringer answered a young bombers girl who said she wanted him to come to the Bombers and he said "hope so".

Therefore I think he will declare the Bombers as his target soon.

I twigged watching that trade radio the other week. Seemed very cushy with Dodoro..VERY !!

Media are reporting he met with Port?  Was he sighted?

It would strike me as a big move for a Melbourne boy with his board shorts biz and everything else set up here.

I wonder how the exit interview went?  Maybe a few home truths about his prep and commitment - step up or step off sort of stuff?  Maybe not up for the challenge?

Anyway, contracted with 2 years to go, former number 1 draft pick.  Gotta get some things of value back for that (a first rounder for lever deal would work nicely, plus a player for good measure).  I would ask for Ollie Wines.

There is zero chance we are getting Wines in this deal.  Great to think about, but he's contracted and he loves it over in Port.

We're either getting picks in the deal or swapping for some other player.

Spot on. As well as that he's obviously a great player but we should be looking at other sorts anyway, to fill the areas we're lacking in. Another inside midfielder isn't really our priority right now.

Re Jesse, he needed some time to himself after a tumultuous season, no surprise there. He has been in Bali and posted numerous photos with his mates Max & Harmes. Perhaps his need for some alone time is mistaken for home sickness. Too many journos, too much conjecture give the guy some space. I hope he is back as that volcano poses more of a worry than trade week.

So we have to wait another week after the gf for trades to begin. Great another week of bs dribble from journos to read and listen too. Yay.

It can't come soon enough for me. Actually would have been happy for it to happen after our last round.

Just get on with it ffs.

I get the feeling that if he and the Manager went there, the clubs are a fair way down the line on a trade, otherwise why waste the time and money.

Perhaps the Crows want a Port player and our first pick and Watts is being used to get that player across to the Crows.

We will know it all in 3 weeks and 4 hours .

So the countdown has started, albeit unofficially?

Only to officially lodge imho

Once the Granny is out the way all media focus will be on the Circus.

I get the feeling a lot will be brazenly discussed in all but open theatre. The pretence deminishing year by year.

And you would get laughed out the door.

Also Watts draft position is irrelevant.  Redo the same draft and where would he go?  Would be an interesting exercise thats for sure.

Given the whole 'go home thing" it is actually hard not to get a smidge cynical at times. It would be a 'nothing" had such occurrences not happened before.

Re Hogan ; I have no idea whether he' ll stay or go. I've said before and repeat  , all in all I don't really care. Either way we have a very good player or we'll get very good compensation.  What I do know is as I also said earlier he , for mine,  has always seemed more a 'visitor" to our ranks than a deep seated stalwart.

A lot about him , his style I like, but again , we're used to not having him as much as we are. Id hate to lose both Watts and Hogan as you have one hell of a void of goals to make up for in some manner.

We can but wait.

Disagree.

Fair enough, this is a discussion board after all :)

I feel that if Jack's season hadn't been interrupted by injury (obviously not his fault) he would have rated ahead of Hartlett. But Hartlett did a lot of great intercept work this season was quite consistent. Hall beats both of them IMO - massive metres gained and even though he can be inconsistent, wins a heap of the ball and drives it long. He has that X factor with his ability to run and break lines too, so I rate him quite highly.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
