Gives us plenty of time to court some clubs RE: a pick upgrade with our second rounders.

Am I clinging to hope unrealistically?

If we can't get in to the top 15 I'd rather keep our 3rd pick at 36. Use 47 to upgrade one of the first two picks as high as it can go but I'd want to get 3 ok picks in rather than 1 good one, 1 ok one and one dodgy one.

Such a shame live trading in the draft isn't allowed because this really is the perfect scenario for the club trading up on draft night if they have a player they want around the 15-25 mark.

nearly but not yet

Will be a very large bonus to see Adelaide sell the farm for Gibbs, thinking they can still win the flag next year, and fall flat on their faces with an aging list, and no early picks.

Conversely, will be sickening to see the Blues with 2 x  extra first round picks, and a young list with some talent already on it.

Hope they fluff the picks badly. Stuff both of them.,

Do we have too many draft picks and not enough available list spots? Would this mean a trade is imminent?

Sorry if its onthe wrong thread but just a hyperthetical for next year.

The trtade rumours of Hogan to head back home will be bbeating lowder than ever and I think he is a real chance to elect to go - obviously dependent on where we and Freo finish.

I would be demanding  the 2 first rounders as a base minimum and be looking at slingshotting them to GC for Lynch who is  already talking of heading back to Victoria.

IMO thats a like for like WIn / Win.

Please let me reiterate that I am a huge Hogan fan and do not want him to leave at all

Id be demanding not just 2 first rounders but two top 10 picks....just like we made to get him in the first place! But next year is a long way off and if we're a good team I reckon he'll want to stay.

Correct. Also 29 and 31 would be equal in points to at least pick 13 if not 12.

We would have 12, 36 and 84 which would be enough.

We have done well with later picks so I'll back Jason Taylor and the team in with four picks under 47

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
