Curious as to why a lot of the better mail on here seems to come to us via Perth?

@Chook in Perth

Has reliable inside info

Unsure of what "personal" favours he needs to do in order to obtain said info, but he must be doing a satisfactory job.

#Bestinthebizzy. I’ll be back Monday, will a  big trade be broken wide open then?

After providing all the big breaking trade news stories before they happen you certainly deserve a weekend of leisure Ethan.

BTW just how does a high octane cutting edge journalist such as yourself wind down?

I know Chook in Perth is originally from Melbourne and his contacts are (obviously) in Melbourne also.

You assume that he/she identifies as such. He/she may identify as gender neutral. Or gender fluid.

Still not worth pick 3

Would have been pick 19 if we won the premiership.

I'm ok with a lower placed team getting compensation for a good player leaving. It stands to reason that they aren't very good because they have less good players. Less about what the player is worth as an individual and what the loss of that individual means to the team overall.

Of course Buddy is worth more than pick 19 in isolation, but the Hawks as a team were clearly more than capable of dealing with his loss.

Maximum compensation should be pick 11 so all the non finalists get to pick first. Ironically if that's what we got we probably would've drafted Lever!

If the max a team could get was pick 11 then the Franklin for 19 deal wouldn't have been so bad, especially when they signed Frawley for free the next year. Frawley and 19 for Franklin isn't such a bad deal, not when you keep winning premierships!

Of course, I should have realized!

I imagine Zumba would be a little passe for you Ethan. I'm guessing a spot of pole dancing would be more to your taste.

You would be correct. I prefer to put on a Culture Club album and do a bit of interpretive dance. I’ve been known to swing around a pole every now and again and get my slide on.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
