Heard the same and while no imminent move is on Jesse is alleged to have stated that the clubs treatment of Jack will make his decision easier in 2019. Repet, it is never good ditching good clubmen 1 year into a 3 years contract

Maybe its also a lesson for players not to drop their performance 1 year into a 3 year contract...

Define good clubmen.  Does it include being one of the most senior players at the club having been there for 9 years and turning up from the break so unfit that you have to be put into the rehab group to get fit because you're too unfit to take part in the main drills. Imagine watching your good clubman senior player setting the standards by doing run through after run through day after day and not being able to keep up with anyone. Great example. What about if the good clubman had been read the riot act and still continues to make other non football things his focus. Maybe he played up during his rehab. I don't know but he came back and played two of the most insipid games I've seen him play. And it wasn't due to fitness.  What about if the good clubman turned up to training session after training session after training session late and was told over and over and over not to do that and that as a senior player its critical he sets standards not breaks them.  Do you just let that go on forever. Like Carlton and Fevola until its a disaster.

I'd be guessing it must be s scenario like this. And if it is while he's a popular player I bet the players would understand why its happening. Nathan Jones made it pretty clear in that SEN interview that there were real issues with his commitment and the leadership group had to talk to him. I have no doubt that leadership group would be onboard with whats going on and would be making it clear to everyone else.

How else do you set standards and behaviours. The two big catch phrases for building a team nowadays.

I have no doubt leaders will be talking to all players including Jesse explaining all of this. I find it hard to believe he'd walk out on the Club if he's watching Watts behave something like that and that's why he's gone. A year is a long time in football. He'll be playing finals next year and Watts will be a memory.

BREAKING: Jack Viney seen buying an unusually large amount of pears at a fruit shop. Media reporting all signs point for him to request a trade to Port

This is actually an indication that Watts is staying. Goodwin made it clear to all that if Watts was to stay he'd need to 'get a pair'. Viney was just doing his captain thing and went out to buy some to help Jack.

For every Whale Roberts there's a McDermott, McGuiness, Jarman.

Richmond weren't hoping to keep the injured Deledio ($800K) last year, as they needed to find a way to lure Prestia and Caddy.

And football was really part-time then.  There's no comparison to the business it is today.  Whale would have trained for a month or two preseason and 3 times a week after work.

It's not a great comparison.

And who said Hogan is looking at his future ?  His manager says he wants to be at Melbourne.  This is merely driven by speculation and Freo's desperation.  Nothing more.

Btw, the gambling reference is a poor cheap shot.

The players you have mentioned when they were moved on have nothing in common with our Jack your right it aint a great comparison.

I know it is not the right question but if we have to entertain the thought of Hogan heading west, what should we expect in return. Can someone provide an honest proposal.

Why bother when he's still here for at least 2 more years. A lot can change.

Pick 5 is a given but what else could we secure.

Not so sure. Would love to say he is but have a thought he may not. Could happen very quickly.

Would Crameri or T.Menzel be able to assist our forward line? Both free

Crameri may be on his way back to the Bombers according to SEN, T Menzel was a talented junior, questions remain over his application, desire and attitude, apparently

And how is Blighting kicking out McGuinness, McDermott, etc., and us kicking out Watts similar to Betts, who chose to leave Carlton for money ?

Menzel is a small forward who found himself behind some good small forward at the crows. He showed at the blues that he’s got talent so I wouldn’t be surprised if a team gives him a lifeline

Defiant has the talent but is a bit Wattsy

With Pencil, BenKen, Trengove, Prince and Hulett delisted, it only leave 5 positions on the senior list, in comes Lever, Balic and Smith and Maynard most likely to get upgraded, realistically only leave one more spot on the senior list. I would suggest that would leave us with a late pick in the draft meaning that there won’t be many more changes to the list.

reckon T. Menzel is worth a shot he was really good for carlton a few years back and could get him for free on a low salary

Ive seen Menzel play for the Crows reserves and has struggled at the best of times. He would be a good player at Casey at best.

Because they were all at the end of the career —retirement age , not moved on for off field issues that apparently effect the group . Betts wasnt paid what he was worth so he was undervalued and pushed out ( wrong yes? ) and garlett was involved in an incident and moved on because of poor character ( wrong again  ) . Malthouse mark neeld specials . Watts is being juged incorrectly in my opinion and like betts and garlett  has many years of good footy in front of him .

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
