Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

He left a sour taste at Collingwood and the same at the Dees.  I was a fan but really didn't like how he messed us around for 6 months and left us a player short on our list this year.

I wonder what criticisms are in store for us and our doctors in his doco?

I won't be watching.

Well, I didn't realise he was given the nickname 'Chimp' at Collingwood. Say what you like about Lumumba being a bit pretentious and precious, but that is f'n awful.

I mean this is pretty basic stuff, not complicated. Even Collingwood people should be able to get that far.

Doco doesnt cover his time at Melbourne, but from the article, seems his main gripe at the Dees is that we had no indigenous people on staff. Not sure if this has changed since he left?

Chimp is unaccetable but so have some of mine.  I don't condone racism but I also think it gets highlighted in a politically correct world.

Harry was just against all that corporate uniformity and the destructive negativity .

He was Ok doing the Pepsi commercial but after he pocketed the cash from that he began to think of himself as a champion of the downtrodden .

live long enough and life will make hypocrites of us all.

Harry achieved his hypocrisy quickly.

The world has become full of those who would like to demonise others in an effort to display their spiritual purity.

How they embarrass themselves so.

You are right of course as to how these things get blown up.

I guess this is always a weird one, because since the dawn of time giving insulting and hurtful nicknames has been a part of the footy club mateship and culture, but at the AFL level the clubs are also a workplace, so if someone starts making noise you have to stomp it.

I don't agree with the nickname and don't condone racismt. I believe everyone has something offensive that could be said to them

i treat all people equally. Do you think skin colour can entitle people to offence?

Some sense in this thread.

At my high school their was a kid with an oversized head and we called him "moon head", there was another kid who hadn't reached puberty at the same ages as most and we called him "small"

Racism is abhorrent but just a small part of bullying. It is politically correct to call it a driver but in reality it is at the fringe.

The Prince is a conundrum. Much of what he says carries weight (I tend to agree with his overall points on the 'Les' nickname and being annoyed at Eddie re: Goodes) but a lot of his act can be overblown (taking extended time off to mourn the death of Muhammad Ali) or baffling (claiming we were trying to limit the number of games he played so as not to trigger an extra year on his contract but also exposing him to harm re: his concussion).

The nickname 'Chimp' was absolutely apalling if true and it doesn't matter if it were for a week or ten years. Those who are trying to draw equivalence between how their mates in school got called rangas and this might want to look at the historical legacy as to why people of color were compared to monkeys.

I found Adam Goodes' exit from AFL absolutely heartbreaking. I could never, and will never, work out why so many viewed him as a 'despicable [censored]'.

While I concur with some of Herry L's social views, I can understand why he gives people the shits.

The only sensible thing to do is start pulling  down statues.

I can see no other remedy but to erase human history and begin again afresh.

That way we can all live in the belief that we are good and " right".

We can use violence against those we even suspect might "hate".Violence is justified against "haters".

Are you all with me??

Lets go find the haters and stop them now!!

Chaaaaargggge!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"let's get 'em"!!!!

Wouldn't mind that statue of Adam Lindsay Gordon in my garden actually.

i might call the animal lib movement and have them remove it for me .

He was a steeplechase rider so he doesn't deserve to be recognised near the Parliament.

We can all agree on that I'm sure.

Warnie is off limits though- i'm standing vigil by that one.

Why would that be an issue?

He wasn't indigenous. He was Brazilian. Is he some advocate for 'affirmative' action hiring policies?

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
