Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Great start last week wasn't exactly translated to a cruise ?

St Kilda still had something to play for, I think we've seen it enough when we were a steaming pile of......well you get the point. With teams down the bottom a fast start to us could kick in the "here we go again" attitude and the players start going through the motions.

Stretch coming in for Viney, Hogan replacing Weideman.

Kennedy the carry-over emergency.

So the bench will be Brayshaw, Stretch, Hannah and Wagner.

Maynard and Sammy playing for Casey.

This might change tonight but that's the team as of right now.

Looks like I had solid intel

Brisbanes mids are surprisingly good on paper. No idea how they are bottom.

beams, zorko, rocklif, mccluggage, Lewis Taylor, rich, bastinac and a very handy mobile ruckman.

They have class in defense with Andrews and mcstay. Both have played 50+ games and forwards with hipwood.

wouldnt surprise me if they are playing finals in a couple of years.

They are only bottom because of our s---house performances against the Kangapoos. Win those (as we should have) and the Kangapoos would be bottom (as they should be) and we're on the cusp of a top 4 finish!

Yes except for your intel on Hannah!

Using my intel(ligence) I can categorically state that Daryl Hannah never has and never will play seniors footy for the Dees!

My take is that the club probably realise (think) that we wont win the main prize, but to reach the finals in itself would be a huge confidence booster for the future. (And if this WAS actually what they were thinking, i would agree)

The difference between making finals, even if only by percentage, and missing out is HUGE. I could live with being bundled out in our first Elimination final, as long as we made it, and it wasn't a blowout. I would look forward to next season much more than if we missed out. My membership would be upgraded, i would be much more likely to buy club merchandise for Christmas gifts etc etc. Miss finals and i would be so [censored] flat...... grrrr.

Whatever it takes to make the 8 is fine by me. Short term pain and all that. I honestly dont think we are a realistic chance of winning the flag THIS year, but it is soooo important that we at least make the finals.

GO DEES !!!

Great to see so many doctors and specialists (of the medical variety) on Demonland.

I have an appointment with a cardiologist next week for a slightly dodgy ticker, but obviously I can just cancel it and get informed and expert opinion here on treatment and recovery.

Sure Bing, i have had a heart attack, AND 4 angiograms, AND a triple bypass, AND im a nurse.

Ask me anything.......

Did anyone catch League Teams on Fox last night? Wtf is Alistair Lynch's gripe with the Dees?  Argued with Roos for about 5 minutes about the fact the Lions midfield and overall team was better than Melbournes. . Embarrassing for him to be so bias. He, at one point, said you Roo's "who have you got" to which Roos replied "hang on, it's not my team". What a [censored].

It's not what he's got against us it's more who we are up against. One of the more biased former players rolling around in the "media"

Right on the money. Are our high performance team really that high in their performance. Either selection committee are bringing them back too soon or Misson and the team aren't making the right recommendations.

Gawn, Watts, Salem, Viney all seem to have came back too early ...

I must've missed where Gawn was re-injured. He was very good in his comeback v West Coast and I doubt we would've won without him. Fitness was an issue in the following games but do you want the AA ruckman doing 4 weeks in the 2's?

We also probably don't beat Port without Viney. And we don't know exactly what his issue is.

Point is, we're still in the finals hunt because those players came back.

Viney's foot injuries are a concern and need a good rest.

Dont rush him back. If he is available for 1st final assuming we make it. Play him then. That will give him 4 weeks of injury management.

If we are going to win against the Lions and Pies I am sure the boys will step up and cover his loss.

Sense in that.

He is not playing well and probably not allowing injury to heal properly.

Dont lose much in playing a runner or a Maynard and allowing Viney to recover.

No one implied Gawn was re-injued. Nor did l suggest 2"s for A grade players. Truth is though that these players have came back underprepared - needing either more conditioning and recovery.

Take your pick

You have to keep in mind that Lynch will always stick up for Brisbane, and when they're the 18th placed side I think it's okay to afford him that luxury.

Lynch's argument was that Brisbane's top liners in the midfield were at least the equal of Melbourne's or arguably better. To illustrate he asked Roos to name Melbourne's best midfielder, to which he eventually said Jones. Lynch responded with Beams being Brisbane's best. Straight off the bat you can see that he has a point. I love Jonesy but when he's named as the best midfielder you're not off to the most intimidating start.

Brisbane's trio of Beams, Zorko amd Rockliff is elite. It is at least the equal of Jones, Viney and Oliver. To that extent Lynch has a point. Melbourne however has a better spread of talent through the midfield which is partly why they sit 11 spots higher on the ladder.

Ultimately though it was just banter between two good mates. It was no doubt a rehash of discussions they've previously had off air.

I can give him that, that Rockliff, Zorko, and Beams CAN be elite. But as you say the spread of talent and ability can't be questioned at this moment in time. We should (and I believe will) have winners everywhere on the ground.

The duel I'm looking forward to is Gawny vs Martin. Stef has been good at Brisbane and Gawn's still a little patchy at times following his return. If Gawn gets on top though we will kill them, as long as our on ballers lower their eyes.

No, it's not the truth at all, at best it's your opinion. One obviously not shared by the medical and conditioning staff.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
