Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'm glad you acknowledged the fact that i50 was 'delivered poorly' but, it was, in fact, an absolute disgrace

So TMac must be playing in a different forward line to Watts. Perhaps he is just really really lucky each week. 8 marks and 8 tackles shows he works his butt off regardless of how the team is going ensuring that his poor games are never really that poor.

You realise 6 of those marks were probably taken in defence? Garlett, Pedo, Watts and Tmac kicked a combine total of 3 goals from those inside 50s so I reckon there's more of a story on the entries and the structure. Watts kicked 1 and set up 2 directly. Where's the thread for Pedo or Garlett?

Its basic but get a guy up into the ruck or around the footy and your away - We have got the mix wrong and need to play Wiederman Wattsy Perderson Tmac Maxy and drop a small . Tmac Watts and Wed can all ruck ( weeds timing is natural) Watts Tmac have proven speed and can play attacking wing back roles as well . get these guys involved and on a windy day .

Irrelevant. Watts s the only senior player to be poor 3 weeks in a row.

You can't be serious. Garlett kicked 3 last week and 2 the week before after flying interstate and back during the week. Pedo is a back up  and had his 1st game back. Again,  Watts is the only senior player to be poor 3 weeks in a row.

1. I called for him to be traded 3 seasons ago.

2. the only reason watts has lasted is because of all of the new coaches we've had over the years thought they could put some aggressiveness in him.

3. So many people on this board have defended Watts for years because they defend all melbourne players but Watts plays such a soft brand of football that it probably has an effect on those around him.

4. Also, IF we play finals football, the intensity of finals footy would make watts even more insignificant than he already is.

People think im harsh on Watts, which I am, but i'm not as harsh on Melksham and Harmes which cop a lot on this board. both these guys crack in every week!

A poorly structured team...

Pedo was ok when Max was out but with him and Tommy Mac forward it doesn't work.

So, the Watts question. He needs to be the relief ruck, it gives him a sense of urgency and has played his best footy playing this way.

Pedersen works as a first choice (out of necessity) break-even ruckman who then becomes an extra midfielder that likes to float forward.

He doesn't work in any other role for mine.

Would have to agree with these comments. Bit difficult for any of our fwds in the 1st half because we bombed.it in all the time !! No brains in the midfield.

Petracca and Oliver need to kick more .

Petracca & Oliver probably also need teammates who are working harder to create an option to kick to, or more switched on so they are doing it when they should be (not thinking about it when it's too late).

McCartney said it all when he reportedly spoke pregame about players resetting to their default when under stress.

We've seen it consistently with Watts earlier in the season. I think he just needs a recalibration (along with a few others).

The return from injuries of many of our players has not been managed as well as you'd like, maybe due to circumstances.

He`s had 3 really poor games coming back from injury, I think we can all agree on that.

Talk of him being traded after 3 poor games, however, is just laughable. Drop him sure, but trade him.....you`ve got to be kidding!

His form prior to injury was as good as he`d played in his career.

Yeah he's another one.

I feel Jeff G & JW are  barometers of the quality of ball going into fwd line.  If the ball is just bombed in these  blokes do not get a look in. When we move the ball well Watts is the player who really delivers the ball well and connects well and makes good decisions. (Yes, I do not think he had a good day today and his style does not meet the bash and crash criteria of some but he is the link man and he cannot get the ball when it is 40 feet above his head...

Petracca is still learning but he will become a quality "fwd controller"

Yes, I know he's the perennial whipping boy. And I have been a supporter of his for as long as I care to remember. But he has been shocking the last 3 weeks, during a crucial period for the club. It's now 150 games plus. I have no idea of his contract status and situation. He has three more weeks. Either they're very good, or it really is time for him - and the club - to move on.

To be fair you should open a post on Garlett and Pedersen also.  The forwards weren't to blame, the delivery to them is horrible

Big Job Goody ahead of you

Not if our midfield delivered the ball like they should. Melbourne has the lowest scoring efficiency for forward 50 entries in the league. Even Buddy Franklin would hit new lows playing in our forward line. The butchering of the ball is our ultimate downfall.

The blokes out of form, no doubt about it, but do we really need to single him out yet again?  Plenty in our side at the moment who are struggling.

Such a predictable answer.

Give the bloke a chance to play in September before you judge his performance in it.

With performances like yesterday we won't be playing in September and don't deserve to

Boys, boys, boys. So quick to judge, so quick to forget the great things he's done this year, so quick to forget he was out injured, quick to point out he's lost some touch, but so has the team. Forwards always cop the brunt of the poor form of the so-called deliverers. What more does Watts have to do to prove to you men of no good will that he has bled for this club, that he's in the trenches fighting for his team?

Not buying it.

Top forwards like Riewoldt of St Kilda go and get the ball from the back line when its not coming in as often as they like.

Our own Jesse Hogan and garlett do it to get into the game.

JW just doesn't want to or can't will himself into a game.

Being out of touch is one thing, but you can't defend some of the defensive efforts, especially late in the second quarter.

For those two reasons, he needs to go back to the VFL and get the necessary touch and intensity.

Performances we are more than capable of rectifying, not to mention the fact we are still well and truly in the hunt.  It's not as if we're two games adrift.  I know it's not in your genetic makeup to have some faith, but you should try it sometime WYL.  You might like it.

He hasn't taken a clean ball in the games since returned from injury. It's not yesterday game on its own. It may be good for jack to have a break. I'm certain it would be good for MFC. This year he has currency. Just look at the manic contest today between eagles and saints. I can't see jack watts willing himself to stand up in a game like that. Yes he played hard a few times earlier this year but it isn't enough.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
