Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Brown could stay at North as per his manager on Sport 927 today.

Ben Brown is willing to listen if North Melbourne gives him a call.

Brown’s manager Adam Ramanauskas said there was still a chance they key forward could line up for the Kangaroos next year.

“If North Melbourne were to make the phone call, everything has to be considered. But at the moment there’s no phone call being made,” he told the Breakfast Club.

Yesterday North Melbourne announced that senior coach Rhyce Shaw had mutually agreed to part ways with the club and there is a possibility whoever takes the reigns wants Brown to stay.

“I’m sure Ben, being the person that he is, would be happy to listen.

The people who made the decision to cancel the early contract offer and to oust him from the club are still there.  No way would he stay.

We absolutely need a Ben Brown type. I would not judge him alone on 2020. If 2 or 3 years ago you said we could get him for pick 23 you absolutely would have.

The question for me is why a busted arz team would want to see the back of him - something tells me I am missing something

Maybe Sideshow is NQR

That is what a full medical should cover

Sorry I don’t know what you mean

I am sure Darren Burgess and Club Doctors can sort out whether Sideshow Bob has a career ahead of him

What I mean is that Freo would have done a medical on Jesse Hogan. That process would not have identified other issues that may (or may not) be the reason why they now want to move him on after being so desperate to get him back to Perth

I'm a JH fan and really hope he sorts his life out and can carve a successful career in the AFL but I worry that is not going to happen - and its not because his body is not capable of playing the game or passing a medical test

If Sideshow Bob is physically up to the rigors of the AFL then I still wonder why his current club (who are struggling for survival) would be desperate to see him out the door

Hence my concern Brown is maybe NQR

This has come up in a number of your posts so I'll give you a view:

The things we know:

  • He turned down North's contract offer which they subsequently withdrew due to covid and sal cap reductions.
  • North messed Brown around at the time of creating the hubs (some of it not their doing).
  • North were insensitive to his wife's miscarriage.
  • North are in a bit of a mess
  • He has seen a number of his mates and club staff unceremoniously dumped.
  • The people who withdrew his offer and (mis) managed the hub are still at North.

North may have initiated the split (and could now be regretting it) but given the above why would he want to stay.

I have seen or heard nothing that supports your idea that he is NQR.  But lets assume he is carrying a lingering injury.   I have full confidence that our medical team has done their due diligence and will get him right if necessary.

You ask those questions as well. Football is also above the Shoulders

The Shockers wanted Jesse back for years, we all knew the problems, Freo chose not to see them.
Why do you think we would behave the same way?

We already have a broken key forward, so i don’t think we are blinded at all

I agree with all of that, but for completeness note the stories/rumour about why he may be NQR are:

- Knee injury shot (should be able to resolve through medical assessment);

- His wife is a disruptive influence around the club (possibly interpreted from,  related to issues you mentioned); and

- He is very family focussed and not as footy focussed any more (could be partially true, but related to 2020 at North Melbourne, rather than footy in general).

Personally I find the issues you listed more likely to be real, but at least here is (an almost complete) list of rumours/issues.

I think Hogan is attitude and drive whereas Brown seems to be purely about the knee.

Freo would have known about Hogans temperament but probably thought being around family and friends back in Perth would help him settle down. The opposite appears to be the case.

If Burgess and the medical team have given Brown the all-clear that's good enough for me.

Thanks.  I tried to stay away from rumours as I felt facts would be more convincing to cover 'Sydees'' concerns.

re the rumours you mention.  Good on him for putting his family first.  If I was his wife and went thru what she did I wouldn't be too happy with the club either.

I also agree, I think Trac should play 50/50 midfield forward, I just think we should rotate more players through the midfield. I would have Oliver, Brayshaw, and Harmes as the mainstays, Trac 50/50 mid forward, and then Viney and even Jackson pinch hitting through there.

These are good suggestions. Tracca is the ideal, dynamic mid-forward and should be given the same liberties of onfield location that D Martin is granted, suiting himself where and when he is forward or returns to the midfield. We must make better use of Brayshaw, Harmes and Oliver's kicking skills, and run into the forward zones. Viney could be a nightmare for opposition sides as a dedicated deep forward utility/forward pressure specialist. With Brown coming into full fwd, I can imagine the work Viney might perform providing clearances of opponents' intentions during leads and gallops to receive.

Interesting article about Brown from 2018.

- Tore his ACL in his under 18 year
- Jason Taylor when he was at Collingwood met with him and offered him a rookie spot after a year of rehab in Melbourne
- Has a big tank
- Highlights some of the previous concerns about his game

You attract an intelligent crowd, with your comedy. The guy who laughed at your comment can’t even spell his screen name correctly (literally).

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
