Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'd back Hannan in to bounce back unless he's really sore and then maybe bring in Stretch or DJ.

Up to Goody if he wants to give Vince his spot back or punish his stupidity.

There's no room for Lewis this week. The Giants are too quick in the midfield and run far too hard on the wings. We don't need a loose man back and we can't carry a midfielder with no pace or run, not one who is afraid of putting their head over it either.

Petracca has to go forward and be a creative link player. Bring Maynard in to crash and bash around the packs.

Seriously? There is room for Lewis every week

The Jack Trengove Experience is over.

Massive fan of his but he cost us several goals yesterday and had no impact whatsoever,  I thought it was a very poor performance from someone as experienced, playing for his career

I would agree but being at the game can only say his was not the only very poor performance in such an apparently important match. Trengove also contributed some useful moments as did others. What he lacked was the "impact" play but again he was not the only one who failed in that.

There were a number of players who cost us goals and every player would be dropped if the criteria applied to JT was universal.

JT should not be the scapegoat nor should his career be defined on this game.

But he may miss this game due to structures and the roles that are needed for this weeks competitors

No Lewis? it's our biggest game of the year. Lose this and we are out of the 8 and will struggle to make finals and you want to rest our most experienced player? Can you not see that we struggle from lack of leadership in a normal game let alone a must win finals type game against a premiership contender?

Without Hogan now I would think this would be the best 22 we would want in form for the remainder of the season:

B: Jetta Frost Hibberd

HB: Hunt Omac Salem

C: Tyson Oliver Lewis

HF: Hannan Watts Melksham

F: Garlett Tmac Petracca

Fol: Gawn Viney Jones

Int: Vince Harmes ANB

If we need the extra tall so Tmac can play deeper fwd obviously Pederson would come in with backup ruck duties where he was successful earlier in the season.

I assume your 22nd player is the Invisible Man. That should give us heaps of outside run.

I fear for JKH and JT, as they are likely to have to make way for Jones and Vince. Others to feature heavily in selection conversations are Hannan/Watts/Frost although they all have some credits in the bank and we would back them to turn things around this week.

Baring unknown injury news there will be 3 changes. Maybe 4 if someone is sore and they want to trial Maynard.

In:Jones/Vince/Weid

Out: JKH/JT/Hogan

Hoping Weid is in form and will be better with the support of other talls in TMac and Watts which he didn't always have earlier in the year

Playing the weid would be a big risk but it could give the opportunity for tmac to go back if necessary.  If any rain then forget it.. I would have Hogan and Trenners out with Jones and Vince coming in.

Agree he is a risk but he needs to get exposed to improve and that should be when he is in form and has the support of other talls to limit the double teaming that happened when he played earlier in the year and carried some injuries.

What if he has a breakout game and takes some strong pack marks and goals?

Drop Watts until he decides to try again

He is playing like he is in a stupor

Moves like he is running in treacle and is showing zero aggression at the contest

He currently appears to me to be a liability

At least it wasn't in all caps.

When Watts had some ruck duties he was at his best, i think he responds to a challenge. In any event he is no top of the drops for mine. Trenners and Hannan out. Jones, Vince and Weid in. I think against the GWS the weid is a chance to play well. I dont think you counter GWS's speed and switch by just speed alone you have to cut off the switch. Last week we were out-coached (TMAC had to be dropped back when they had the wind) and Goody will learn from that.

Would TMAC really have made a difference? Ultimately we wanted to play on our terms and once Hogan went down we needed Tom forward. Brown has two shots on goal when out marking 3-4 Melbourne defenders. That says it all really. And it was more so our ineptness going forward in the 4th that lost it for us, not Brown beating our defenders.

Agreed. As much as I'd also like to see Maynard get a gig, this week probably isn't the week to play him given that our finals chances are kind of on the ropes and if it is wet then weidman won't be much chop I wouldn't think. I'd expect that we stick with bringing in the leaders like Jones and Vince. Maybe bring weids and Maynard in against Saints or Brisbane if the opportunity arises.

Well hes not up to AFL standard anymore, so you're right.

It's strange that a top 3 draft pick or whatever he was is in serious question at the age of 25. I know he missed a year but he's fit now. I think the MFC has been pretty patient with the guy and alas he may still be around but if you were to place a bet....odds are he won't be with us.

We're already chalking up a win based on GWS's outs, days after a poor effort against a wooden spoon contender?

No wonder the server crashes after a loss.

All too regular a mindset here I am afraid.  Been happening for years.

X, Y, or Z is out - hooray!!!  We will win easily.

Those who go on with this seem to forget that X, Y and Z are replaced by M, N and O.....so it still ends up our 22 vs their 22, and our 22 need to be focussed and at it all day.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
